Random thoughts on a Baylor Homecoming weekend:

1. Today is Baylor Homecoming. Whitney is in the parade and Westleigh is performing in Pigskin with Chi-O. They won “Sing” last year so they get to perform at Homecoming this year. We went and saw her perform and she was THE CUTEST. She was wearing a yellow dress and a fascinator and the biggest smile in the entire world.

I cheered until I couldn’t cheer any more.

2. The Texas Rangers are in the World Series. My husband has been a Rangers fan since he listened to games on his transistor radio. They’ve never won at the World Series.

Here’s hoping this is their year.

3. Remember last week when we talked about the Count of Monte Cristo? We saw the movie and it’s SO GOOD. You can see the movie on Prime if you have it. We watched the 2011 version.

4. It was a fun week on the blog. We discussed:

5. Remember all those questions you asked me about getting ready for Christmas? Next week on November 1, I’m sharing a fun series with my friend Leslie from My 100-Year-Old Home with 12 Days of Getting Ready for Christmas.

And I’m answering all those questions.

And now?

Let’s celebrate this weekend with a little inspiration.

This is so much fun for Thanksgiving.

How to set a pie buffet table for dinner.

So many cute display ideas and you can see them all here.

I get asked about rug pads so often.

This post I just read is so good with all the advice on where to use rug pads and all the answers to all the questions.

Here’s the info on which is the best rug pad for every kind of rug.

This super simple magnolia centerpiece is perfect.

It doesn’t have to be fancy to be beautiful.

See the centerpiece here.

This fall home tour is so pretty.

I love all the texture and neutrals.

You can take the tour here.

Remember last week when I told you we were going fancy?

And I promised I’d get a picture?

Here it is—and we had SO MUCH FUN. 🙂

edited to add for everyone messaging me about this dress it is NEXT LEVEL. I actually got it at CATO for $35.99. It’s a sweater dress (although the sweater part is super high end and doesn’t look like a sweater if that makes sense) with sequin sleeves and SO COMFORTABLE. It has a slight skater skirt and it doesn’t hug the middle too much. It held it’s own with all the fancy dresses.

You can see it here.

One more for the road

I share this every year and it’s worth the repeat.

These are pumpkins that roll—literally.

They are SO easy to make and you can see the recipe here.

My favorite find

I shared these Christmas tree candles on Instagram and they sold out. They are so cute with a remote and a timer and they feel like wax and the flicker on the candle looks so real.

I just found another source and you can see them here.

Happy random Saturday to you

Adding to my resources as we move forward and find our downsized home. Your moms room is so sweet. Where did she find a resource for cross stitching your/her previous home? Love that idea. That kitchen is killer! Wouldn't it be perfect for a family lakehouse type situation? The kind where there's always LOTS of company and EVERYONE wants to be "in the kitchen" ... helping, snacking, hanging out with the cook(s). With all the counter space and THREE sinks there's plenty of space for anyone who wants to participate in the prep. It's fabulous. If starting from scratch (or doing a big remodel) you could follow this plan for the oversized kitchen and dining/chatting/card-playing space, then have really modest-sized sleeping quarters since it's our experience at the lake that everyone either wants to be in the water itself during the day, outdoors at the firepit after dark, or in the kitchen most ANY other time of the day! The kitchen and dining space is ALWAYS a huge gathering hub. A set-up like this might actually be easier on the host(s) because it would be perfectly okay to put guests "to work" ... and everyone would actually love it. Changing the subject. Your dress is to die for on you. Really, perfect. Your hair looks fabulous. And I am ESPECIALLY taken by your more neutral lipstick shade (instead of your usual bright red). You should wear this color more often. I know red is your "signature", but this color/shade REALLY suits you! Very sophisticated and chic!
