Random thoughts on a sunny Saturday morning:
1. Here’s my go-to summer salad. It’s the Chick-Fil-A side salad with grilled Chick-Fil-A nuggets and 2 packets of zesty buffalo sauce.
My tummy is full of salad every night.
2. I’m starting something new this week to support small businesses. It’s called Thistle’s Things. It’s a once-a-week email full of curated home decor finds that are unique and special and affordable from all of my favorite small businesses.
If you like to shop? You can sign up to get it here.
3. I just finished the BEST book. It’s called Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. It’s a little out of my genre because it has an octopus as one of the main characters. But I finished it in two days.
4. It was an amazing week on the blog. Check out these posts if you want to:

5. And speaking of summer? How hot is it where you are? Texas is HOOOOOTTTTT. This week is supposed to be even hotter and it’s ONLY JUNE.
These are the days when I wish we had a pool.
I’m actually contemplating getting a blow-up pool just to sit it. 🙂
And now?
To take our mind off the heat?

Love that greenhouse makeover! I need that!
My girlfriend really wanted a pool but wasn't possible. Next time I went to visit, there in their back yard was this round metal thing. She was so happy and was getting ready to decorate all around it and her hubby was going to figure out the water. It was for cows or horses or something and they purchased it at the farm store. It was big enough for her to be comfortable. She loved it and has used it for years! Just thought I would give you an alternative for a pool and, boy, I know you could really decorate around it!! Blessings for a beautiful summer!
Hard to believe it’s so hot in some parts of the country bc in So Cal, we haven’t seen the sun in months!
Hello, friend! I am a firm believer in ‘once you say something it will happen’. The weather here has been, um, lovely and unusual. The ground has not moved in quite a while. Ahem. If I say I haven’t broke a nail in weeks-there go all the fingernails. Maybe the cable hasn’t gone out-that day it blacks out. Maybe this is some sort of ‘Murphy’s Law’. Just whisper, that way bad things won’t happen.
So many reads, so little time but I will soldier thru them with that early morning coffee tomorrow. No fathers day celebrations for me to attend. Have a great Saturday. BTW, go get that blow up pool, we only get this one life. Live it how YOU choose. Splash on bathing beauty.
Dear friend…this HEAT and these storms and heat in SC. I saw TX weather and how crazy hot it is right now…100…110…115. Just unreal!!! Here in SC we have had such high humidity…here it comes. Can I say UGHHHHHHH. No pool here either my friend and I told hubby that a blow up pool might be coming my way or that slip n slide. Remember that? Stay cool dear friend. Maybe we should plan a Thistlewood Farms trip to Northern Canada where we could roast marshmallows and wear jackets in July! ☺️🥵
Funny you mention it! I live in SC, all my other homes had pools but not here! Fear not! Ck out Jasonwell inflatable tanning pool on Amazon! I’ve been in it reading all afternoon! Went inside to get a drink… come out and hubby’s in it! This should be on a future “ what I bought Wednesday”!!😍❤️
I just finished the same book, and I loved it! Not really my genre either, but it was so good! Enjoy your summer days!
So many fun and inspiring posts KariAnne.
Getting to read your thistles a bit late this week - busy with father's day. Hope your hubs had a great one. Excellent reading - thank you for the great inspiration, KA! And this is what I think. Seriously, if I lived in TX where it is hot hot hot and with mild winters - and if I had a huge yard like yours? AND to celebrate how good you must look in a swim suit now that you are so skinny................um....................what are you waiting for????? Call a pool builder and get on it. You guys need a pool. And invite me if you hire a cute pool boy to keep it sparkling clean. I'd get a pool if I didn't live in Ohio where it's either FREEZING or RAINING or too hot to even want to be outside. Though honestly? We have had the best spring and early summer weather of my entire life. And I am OLD and have seen many many summers. it's been PERFECT until today - humid, getting ready to rain and got hot, I blame you. lol
Loved this edition!! Sadly, the garden tour was for members only. xoxo
I always enjoy your inspiring posts. How did Westleigh's kickoff week of Thistle & Co go?
Hi Karianne! “Happy 4th of July to you & your family! I have a quick question. I am a pretty organized person and have purchased some of the items that you have shared over time. I can not find the plastic shoe boxes that you posted that are your favorite & would love to know which site to purchase them. I am needing to stack them 3-4 high at the top of my closet, so I’m hoping that they are sturdy enough to do that. Fun! Thank you for all of your tips, suggestions, & ideas! Leslie
Getting ready to meet my Mom but wanted to say thank you so much for featuring my painted buffet. It's super sweet of you! I've been working alongside my parents for a good part of the summer trying to create a retreat space for our entire family. It's been a ton of work but also so much fun! Hope your summer has been full of special memories too! Big hugs and thank yous, CoCo
Getting to this late. Thanks for he weekly roundup. Love it!❤️
