Random thoughts on an ice-covered tree snowy Saturday morning:

1. Just in case I hadn’t mentioned it 29 times? It’s icy in Texas. They shut down the highways yesterday.

And my toes are freezing.

2. Remember my book list from last week? I finished The Social Graces. It was EXACTLY like The Gilded Age series on HBO Max we all watched last year.

It was a fascinating period in history.

All that money and relatively little happiness.

3. I have the best make-up tip that I shared last week, but I didn’t really explain it very well. If you want your foundation to look airbrushed, here’s how to get that look:

  • start with a big powder brush
  • add drops of foundation to your hand
  • dip the big powder brush in the foundation
  • brush it all over your face
  • this technique allows the foundation to glide over the skin and it looks amazing
  • you can thank me later 🙂

4. It was an incredible week on the blog. We talked about:

5. Did you know if you don’t like the grommets on your curtains, you can hide them? That tip along with 5 no-sew curtain hacks here.

And now?

Here are all my favorite things from around the web this week.

Spoiler alert: it was an AMAZING one.:)

You know how much I love a dutch door—we’ve had one at the back door for years.

Did you know you can make your own?

Here are the DIY instructions.

I loved this post.

It’s all about what to put in candles besides (wait for it) candles.

There are so many fun ideas to reimagine candlesticks.

You can see them all here.

Look at these ingredients.

Chocolate chips.

Walnuts.

Oatmeal.

Yes, please.

You can see the entire recipe here.

One question I get asked all the time?

How high to hang your curtains?

This post answers it better than I ever could.

These are my holy grail of leggings. They have pockets and buttery soft material and they aren’t too long and they have compression to hold my tummy in, but not too much to be uncomfortable.

Oh. And they are $25.

And over 2,400 of you checked them out last week. 🙂

Just in case you missed them, you can see them here.

I saw those dutch doors on Courtney's blog and the instructions and project seemed easy. Stay warm, so many people are losing power in Texas, hopefully that won't be you. Thank you for all the ideas you share and the lovely stories.

Make the most of the cold weather. And thank goodness we aren't in Maine. Their windchills were 100 below. Boggles my mind. You gave me some terrific Sunday coffee reads. Thank you for everything. Enjoy this First February Saturday.

Time to cozy up with those throws! Stay safe and stay home if it's icy out. I enjoyed today's lineup--the classic white kitchen is my style--when I hear that white kitchens are on their way out, I always think, hmm, there are endless options for changing up the look of them without changing the cabinetry (speaking of which, I'm Team Cabinets with glass front doors--it's too hard to keep items on shelves clean). I will always be a fan of white cabinets. I loved the literary dishes post--so many good books! The Guernsey .... Society book is fabulous, if you need a good read.

What a vintage find! I can see why your heart went pitter patter. The patina on the wood is beautiful and it looks 100% more charming hosting a chalkboard backing then pool cues. What were they thinking!😉 Your styling for each season is adorable! I LOVE Dutch doors.....like have never had one and really love to have one kind of LOVE! The new home we are building really doesn't have a door leading outside that we can Dutch out. Question.....would it look totally weird if I did the single door to our small walk in pantry as a Dutch door? You can tell me honestly. I can take it. Also, I'm sorta done with the multiple open wood shelving, BUT, I love the narrow stone shelves above the range stoves that go from one side to the other about 6 feet. So European feeling! Happy Saturday and stay cozy warm!
