Random thoughts on a sunny Saturday morning:
1. The roof is already finished. It took only two days and they took it down to the original frame over our attic. They reframed everything to bring it all up to code and put down new dark charcoal shingles that look so fresh and current.
Who knew a roof could make such a difference?
2. Next week we are starting on the paint and the exterior and I need your help picking out a paint color. I’m thinking of white, but choosing a white can be a little challenging.
Stay tuned.
3. We went to see the new Jurassic Park movie last week for Father’s Day. I still haven’t recovered from seeing these GIANT cicadas swarm in the movie. Every time I hear that cicada noise?
I jump.

5. And speaking of summer? How hot is it where you are? Texas is HOOOOOTTTTT. Dallas just tied a 111-year-old record for 100-degree days and it’s ONLY JUNE.
These are the days when I wish we had a pool.
I’m actually contemplating getting a blow-up pool just to sit it. 🙂
And now?
To take our mind off the heat? Here are some amazing ideas and inspiration I discovered for us this week.

What no pictures of the roof?
Can't wait to see your roof - and the rest of your exterior home makeover! We took our grandson to see the Jurassic movie Friday. Oh boy. I couldn't wait for it to be over -- way too intense and loud for me! (I didn't let on to him - he loved it!)
Congrats on the roof. A friend just painted their home “Extra White” (7006), Sherwin Williams. It’s a gorgeous true white. Have fun choosing! Stay cool!😎
I'm dreaming of an early Fall :)
Shoji white by sw is a nice white too. Not too bright not to cream. I’m currently painting our exterior with it and accenting with urbane bronze.
I love a creamy white so I’d go with Benjamin Moore’s Navajo White. I have it in many rooms and it’s a pretty warm white.❤️
Just had my brick house painted SW Shoji White trimmed in SW Amazing Gray and the front door is BM Wythe Blue. Love the softness of the white and the gray is almost a pale taupe.
108 degrees expected here in California’s Central Valley today with more days over 100 expected for the next 5 days! Way too hot! Good luck choosing a color for your house. White is such a classic color for your style of house.
That was fun. I did need something to do since I can't go out in this heat and this did the job. I loved the gardens, the house updated, and the light blue office. It's only 100 here in Oklahoma and that is hot enough. Even a kiddie pool to sit in sounds good to me!! Lol!
We just had our exterior painted and we chose BM Edgecomb Gray. From a distance, the house actually looks off white. Originally, my paint store guy told me that paint on the exterior will always look lighter. I didn't really believe him because interior paint always seems darker once you get it on the walls! Well, he was right. But I'm happy overall. Our house is stucco so I wanted a little color. If my house had siding on the front, I probably would have gone whiter...something like White Dove. Anyway, good luck with your decision! Shelley
So hot in Florida, too!! Breaking records. I am thinking of getting one of the kid splash pads and putting my chair in the middle of it-especially after weed pulling! Leaving on a cruise Monday so that might help my mood!
The ads are so distracting and interrupt reading so much more than they used to. Kind of spoils the experience.
Come to Michigan! The temps are moderating for the next few days and we never get over 100 degrees. 😊 Thanks for another fun lineup. I've made similar cakes for the Fourth of July--it's a super easy and fun way to be festive, and a great way to involve children in helping out.
Love that bookcase interior!! I saw another blogger cut cardboard to fit each bookcase shelf and covered with wallpaper....they just pop right in and you can change them out when ever you wish. You could also use fabric to match decor. It looked amazing!! (I wish I could remember who I saw do this first!!) Just a cheap DIY tip!! I'm doing mine this weekend!
Wait! Did you not just paint your house? Did you not like the color or is the paint not holding up? I thought it was white before. I am so confused!!
Thank you SO VERY MUCH for the sweet feature. :)
Such a great week. Loved all you shared.
This is such a good wrap up. Can’t wait to see the color white you select for the house. The sheet cake is so pretty! And holy smokes a new heat record for JUNE! 🫢 Your son’s wedding was phenomenal. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Clicked on that link for the pretty blue office. $1000 for an office chair and $800 for the table lamp is absurd. I appreciate the link for its inspiration but i follow you for your stylish yet affordable decorating style. Aspirational and delusional is not a roadmap.
Patricia, LOL! I had no idea it was that expensive! That office is so pretty and we can use it for inspiration! It’s not my blog—the link was to someone else’s blog with expensive stuff apparently! :) happy day, karianne
No pictures? Ok we'll wait lol I know it will be wonderful!!
GREAT Thistles! I absolutely loved the Meryl Streep love story - she's an icon and I have adored her since Kramer vs. Kramer. She's BRILLIANT and has a million different looks on film. 40+ years married in Hollywood? THAT is a miracle. I have praying for all married couples a lot lately for some reason. Been seeing a lot of marriages end since Covid - so many being forced together has forced people to show real colors. For us and my two daughters our three marriages got much stronger - but two of my neighbors (4 kids each, too some still fairly young) have dissolved. It is heart breaking. Sigh. So this story meant so much, thank you for sharing.
You are so sweet to share my post this week, thank you, I really appreciate it. I'm beyond thankful we had the chance to get away and ease into the summer season. Q2 was too wild for words yet each challenge was met with abundant grace and thankfully little gifts along the way that kept us going. Big hugs and thank you for supporting creative ladies across the world, CoCo
