Random thoughts on a sunny fall morning:
1. I didn’t want to mention anything until it was over and I was home because I didn’t want to worry anyone, but I just had surgery.
Yep.
My hip was damaged and now I have it all fixed and I’m ready to run marathons.
If you thought the holidays were fun before? Wait until you see what my hip and I have planned for us over the next couple of months.
2. My favorite fall lipstick just went on sale and it has over 14,000 reviews on Amazon. You can see it on last week’s episode of What I Bought Wednesday.
3. Yesterday was the twins’ birthday. They have the best group of friends who surprised them with a birthday party in the laundry room in the dorm.
Living. Their. Best. Life.
4. It was an incredible week on the blog. We laughed together at this story and I shared these home DIY projects you can do for under $100 and these 28 creative fall centerpiece ideas.
5. I have the BEST before and after room makeover I’m sharing with you all on Tuesday with Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year.
And now?
Let’s share all the finds I discovered for us this week.
Spoiler alert—it was a good one.
This took my breath away it is so pretty.
That floral is called a Smoke Bush.
You can see the rest of the mantel here.
Doesn’t this look yummy?
It’s no-bake AND low carb.
This vintage potting shed is so pretty.
It’s everything I love about fall.
Take a tour here.
Have you ever thought about renting your home out to film movies?
My friend Leslie does it all the time.

I always enjoy your blog especially Thistlekeeping. Sorry to hear you even needed to have a surgery but very glad it went well. Now it's easier to put on your skinny pants!! Much luck on a full recovery!!!
Glad you are OK and give yourself a few more breaks as these next weeks go by.
Wow, you are so young to have hip surgery. 😉 I hear it’s one of the easiest to recover from. I wish you a safe and speedy recovery. 😍
Wow KariAnne ! Nothing keeps you down! Glad the surgery went well and you can rest and recover quickly and fully! ☺️

So glad you are doing so great after surgery! You are a champion! Love the weekly wrap up.....have been to the Breakers in Newport, RI...gorgeous. Thanks for the great ideas....more to do this weekend.
Hi Karianne: I'm hoping you can help me with a paint color question. I have a very narrow laundry room that I would like to make appear wider. Should I go with a light color of paint or a dark one? I'd like something other than white if the answer is light. It's already light and I'm trying to branch out as my whole house is builder white. Boring! Thanks for any help you can give me. Blessings, Jan
Hi Jan, I'm obviously not Karianne, but if you don't mind me poking my nose in here I'll tell you what I did with the dining room in our last house. It was long and narrow, or certainly appeared to be that way, so I painted the end wall a darker color than the two walls on each side of it. The darker end wall appeared to be "pulled in" closer to the other two walls, for lack of knowing how to describe it. In short, that dark red wall made the dining room look more square-shaped. I also put a large mirror on one of the side walls. So perhaps a darker color on your end wall, and a lighter color on your two side walls might work for you? Best of luck!
Hope you're feeling better! Though, I'm sure you'll have a fast recovery with your positive energy! Happy birthday to the girls! Shelley
Always such a great dose of upbeat here at Thistlewood, even during a week of hip surgery! I know you'll recover well, but sending healing thoughts and love! Thanks for another lovely Saturday read!
Thank you for sharing my chocolate mixes!!!
So glad your hip surgery went well and that you are looking forward to a busy and creative holiday season!
Prayers for a speedy recovery you sneaky girl! I look forward to seeing your face on Wednesday so I can be assured you are doing okay - doesn't that sound just like a mother!!!! Wanted to tell you - I have tried several of your Wednesday suggestions - even tried the awesome mascara when you mentioned it the first time. I've got the lipstick in my basket for today and love the embroidered pillows from Walmart, as well as the round straw bag. I got compliments on it over and over again. Putting it away safely for next Spring. Take care and hope all goes smoothly and quickly.
Wahoo! So glad you are on the mend and doing well after surgery. ❤️❤️ Thank you for sharing my cheesecake recipe! Xoxo Stacey
So happy you are doing well!
Concentrate on continuing to heal. It's ok to take time for yourself! Thanks for pulling together yet another Thistle keeping for us. I spotted the tiny house earlier this week and practically swooned!
Kariann, Happy and speedy healing.......
Glad to hear you're on the mend...now we'll really have a hard time keeping up!! Thanks for sharing my fall fan blade and Happy Birthday to your girls! Nothing better than knowing your kids are happy! xo
KariAnne, I'm glad that your hip surgery is over. Make sure you take good care of yourself and don't do more than you should. Keeping you in my prayers for a fast recovery. It's great to have this behind you. Bless you! How nice that the twins had a surprise birthday party. May they be blessed with a wonderful year.
Well, now you can't wear that bikini without explaining your scars!!! Lol You get better so you can chase Denny!!! Here's hoping you will be hopping around soon!!! Love you and Happy Birthday to those sweet twins!!!
Hope you continue to mend properly. It isn't fun getting older is it?
Glad you are on the mend and feeling good sweet friend!! Thank you for the shout out about the potting shed- Let's catch up soon! xo
Oh dear! I'm sorry you needed to have surgery, but I'm glad it went well. I wish I lived next door and could bring you and your family a hotdish or something to help out. Also, Happy Birthday to your twins! Lastly, the second I saw that dried floral arrangement I was going to ask, "Is that a Smokebush?" I've only seen one once: it's an interesting looking "bush" (it was more like a small tree). It's in our town, and I'm not tempted to drive by and see if its flowers are dried out, and if so, "Could I please pick a branch of it?" Thanks again for your decorating inspiration, and heal up fast and completely!
Hip surgery wow, glad your recovering well! Happy Bday to your girls!! Take it easy, slow down All the best to you!!!!
Happy healing!! You have so much energy and share so much of that with all of us!! Take care, rest up and heal! Your blog is a blessing to so many!
Dear KA - I am so sorry to learn of your surgery. Sending prayers up for you. Awesome about the girls' bday being happy - sure had to be weird not having them home. How are you handling being an empty nester? My sister is learning - though this past weekend was Family Weekend at her 2 youngest (who look like twins 2 years apart and go to same school and are in the same sorority. ♥) And one last thing that may make you smile: Believe it or not on Sept 20th, our anniversary, many years ago my hubs and I took a cruise up the East coast (ok we loved it so much we have taken that same cruise 3 times now, haha) but on that day on that tour we actually danced in the ballroom (during a fun day tour and they had costumed re-enactors) of that beautiful Vanderbilt Breaker's summer home. EVERYONE should take that cruise. I absolutely LOVE Newport, RI!!!!! Anyway, fast recovery for you. Hugs.
I'm glad you made it through surgery! Now you will be running circles around everyone!!! How chock full of fun ideas this post is and thanks for mentioning my Newport post..
So glad that you are doing so amazing after surgery. Love reading this posts with all of the wonderful links.
