Random thoughts on a brilliantly sunny yard saling Saturday:

1. The twins had senior prom last night. It all seems surreal. I remember when I carried them upstairs in this house on my hip and now they are walking down in prom dresses.

My eyes are spilling over.

2. Another episode of What I Bought Wednesday is live. You can see it here. I’ve already gotten 37 comments about how great the mascara is.

3. We are in the middle of graduation party get-ready right now. There are balloons and cookies and a cake and yummy food and a coffee truck all showing up at the house in the next 24 hours.

Yikes and Let’s go all at the same time.

4. It was an amazing week on the blog. We took a tour of a vintage farmhouse and decorated with paper and organized the bathroom and came up with the VERY BEST economical idea for those metal columns.

5. Are you watching Atlantic Crossing on Masterpiece? It is so good. I also am all about World on Fire, too if you haven’t seen it yet.

6. Do you think skinny jeans are out? Here’s a giant opinion on the matter.

And now?

Are you ready?

Congratulations to the TwinThistles...they are gorgeous!! As I read today's post I thought of a frequently repeated favorite quote of mine that originated in a book by Hodding Carter II and reprinted in the May 1953 Reader's Digest as : "A wise woman once said to me : There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots; the other, wings." I usually repeat the quote without the addition of attributing the words to a "wise woman", but do so today as you are also a very wise woman! I have followed you for so many years and have watched the girls become these lovely young ladies about to leave the nest and fly on their own, though still securely held in the love and safety of their roots. Might I just add that judging by the Instagram photos the three of you look like TripleThistles! Thank-you for sharing your family!

I can just hear the giggles of your girls. What a precious photo. This is such a special time for them and for you. Enjoy every moment! I especially love the garden photos and the french inspired kitchens. <3 I have two linen skirts in my pantry...best thing I ever did to hide my extra stash of paper towels and garbage bags. :)

Oh my goodness, to open up Thistlekeeping and see my garden ... what a thrill. It's almost too much ... and you're so kind! Love, love, loved seeing your twinnies headed out to prom last night ... looking amazing! I hope they had so much fun! And speaking of fun ... their grad party is shaping up to be one for the record books. You're an incredible mother ... and this is a milestone milestone moment for you, your sweet hubby and these darling girls! xo

I love your Saturday blogs. I dedicate at least an hour on Saturdays for them. This week was awesome as usual. The only thing missing were pictures of the prom. Was it an actual prom or virtual, how about graduation, real I hope. I remember both my prom and graduation back in 74, such wonderful memories, I hope kids today have great memories of all the wonderful things out there. Covid has robbed them of that so I hope it gets better soon. Thanks for sharing every day.

I'm right there with ya--I've been working out details on my son's high school graduation open house. We are combining celebrations and also doing his Eagle Scout Court of Honor the same day. Will I be tired? Yes!!!! But it's exciting. You'll have to share details about your celebrations. Anywhooo .... another lovely lineup. Isn't the Scandinavian Home kitchen charming?? And the French Country kitchens speak my language. Too bad I didn't have any blueberry lemonade to sip while perusing all of this! Thanks for including the home of Will and Kate--fun to see!

They grow up fast!! My only child and his wife had their first child on Thursday. It seems like it was just a couple of years ago he was graduating from high school/college. As for proms and graduation, the 3 high schools here graduated one on Thursday, one on Friday and one yesterday. Proms are in April here. Enjoy this time you have with your girls. It goes by so fast!!

Atlantic Crossing is a real favorite of ours. Our last duty station before my husband retired from the USNavy was with the NATO Command in Northern Europe. We lived in Norway for 4 years. Oslo for 2 1/2 years and then to Stavanger for the last year and a half. Our youngest daughter was born there, 3 months after we landed in Oslo. It was an incredible beginning for her. She learned to ski when she was 2! Tussen Takk.

What an exciting and scary time in their life, congratulations. I pray they will enjoy their time at college and you will not miss them too much, although I know you will! Thanks for the goodies and have a great summer with your girls.

I think I'm going to have to start calling the "mini Thistles" the "twin Thistles" because they aren't so little any more!! They are beautiful, just like their mum!!! xoxo
