Random thoughts on a first-day-of-school week Saturday:

1. Have you noticed that if you say something out loud it appears in ads?

The other day I was talking about going to a store and IT SHOWED UP IN MY ADS ONLINE.

2. My son is going back to college today. He’s packing his bags and his computer and his six-month supply of Ramen and he’s heading to Waco.

I am going to miss him so much.

3. Just in case you ever thought about moving to Texas? It was 108 degrees in places in Texas.

Fall. I’m looking at you.

4. It was an amazing week on the blog. I shared with you the start of my makeover in a month series and we talked about what every French door needs and I showed you my before and after back porch and how to turn any room into a classroom.

5. I ordered the perfect mesh tennis shoes for fall. They come in so many different colors and they are SO comfortable and they are so inexpensive. I already had one pair, but I’m ordering another pair in the apricot. Just a quick tip—if you order them be sure and size down if you are in between sizes. They run a little big.

And now?

I sympathize with you about the heat. It was 119 in Palm Desert yesterday and next week the lowest temperatures will be 117. Oh what did we do to deserve this

Wow- it was 93 here yesterday and I thought I'd die. We need rain too. Love this weeks Thistling - the garden tour and reviewing that awesome kitchen were two of my favorites. Funny what she said about ruining her brand new garbage disposal cuz she left it on day and night because it's so quiet. Ours is loud enough to wake neighbors I swear.....so hubs went out and bought one right after I let him read that part. : - ) Good luck to your son in school. Loved the new Waco addition, and now Waco will have yet another, you son! ♥ Hugs.

I love your Saturday stories...especially when they include your Dad, desk drawers and coupons with no expiration. Family love is best.

Truth? I show up every Saturday to build my hopes and dreams. And I'm retired!! I love the new decor, the old furniture and antiques, the surprises and the givens. And maybe if I'm lucky, like I was today, there's a story to make my heart swell and my tears to fall. Thank you, Carol

Dear KariAnne. I click the link to read the story about your husband and son. It moved me deeply. And that garden tour~! OH my, just gorgeous. Thank you for taking the time to find these lovely things for us every week. Have a blessed new week.

KariAnne-it is over 108 here.....lowest temp this morning was 82. Boiling. Dreaming of autumn and cool night temperatures. Thanks as always for the weekly wrap up. Hope you are surviving the school leaving and starting time.....busy, busy. Thinking of you and yours.

One son leaving for college and your twins starting their senior year- I'm feeling sentimental and they're not even my kids, haha! New seasons in life are hard, even if they are good things. Decorating and nature always helps me. I'm having a change as well- going back to teaching after 6 years away (in a time of pandemic and virtual learning no less!) This could explain why I have been obsessed with re-doing my flower beds recently. It's like decorating with nature😆 Just remember, you got this mama!

Reading Thistlekeeping is just as good on Sundays as on Saturdays. :) But I can't go down the tear-jerker story road today. It's too close to my heart. Anywhoo, I especially enjoyed the features on the new old farmhouse, decorating for free, and that luscious garden. I love how varied your featured articles are. And that you follow your reader's blogs, like Jenn's tables!

KariAnne, your Saturday posts are so special! I enjoy each one. Always enjoy when you share some precious memories of your precious Dad! You were truly blessed to have him as your Dad! Dads and Daughters just have a special bond between them! Then, loved reading about the note that your hubby wrote to Zachary! How special is that? Thanks for always sharing your family with us! Each one is so precious! Have a great week.

Our oldest just left for college as well, and I'm still not sure how to feel about it. But, I really want them to succeed and be happy. 108 is way too hot! I will stop complaining about 93.
