Random thoughts on a cloudy fence-building Saturday:
1. In shameful news? I fell for an ad on Facebook and bought these random stickery things that are supposed to make your eyelids look bigger.
Sigh.
If you are wondering if they work.
Umm.
No. Just no.
2. I just got back from a small retreat in Waco with the most amazing women on the planet. It filled me up and made me happy to be alive and in the middle of that classroom, I found myself wanting more. I wanted to form a group to pour into. I wanted to put together a place where we can grow as bloggers and as business owners. So right now?
I’m working on putting together a monthly mastermind full of challenges and ideas and tips and inspiration and zoom meetings full of encouragement.
Details to come.
(total aside: if this is something that you might be interested in? Just sign up here and I’ll add you to the top of the list of people who will find out all the details first.)
3. I went to my first cheer mom meeting of my last year of being a cheer mom. It was exciting and a little sad all at the same time.
4. It was an amazing week on the blog. We talked about cleaning tips and I shared why reading advice columns on your wedding day can be challenging and we all discussed the new paint color in the laundry room.
And now?
Let’s chat about all the fun things I found for us this week from around the internet.
Love this post on ideas to put on a blank wall.
My favorite?
How this gallery wall is friends with that television.
See the post here.
I thought this was a clever solution for a lamp on a table in the middle of the room.
Or any place you can’t plug in a cord.
This story made me laugh out loud.
Thank you friend for being so authentic.
And I’ve been looking at workshops and ideas for our back yard.
This is one of my favorites.
See the entire story behind this barn here.
And in random news this week:
This is where I stayed in Waco
This kitchen garden
This fairytale home
These reusable cotton balls
This amazing piece of furniture
These homemade french fries
This bathroom (do you think I could DIY these towel bars)
And this.
This is one of the cleverest ideas I’ve seen in a long time.
You can see the entire finished room here.
And one more for the road.
In case you needed a FREE charger project for your summer table?
Here’s the project.
OMG! Thank you for solving the problem of not having an outlet where I need one! I am wondering why I didn't think of that! It is a great idea...and it works!!!!
I have been SO tempted to order the sticky eye things. Thanks for the scoop!!
You never fail to delight with all your wonderful Thistlekeeping links. That vegetable garden has given me new inspiration for next year. Thank you, KariAnne!
Happy Saturday, KariAnne! I love the lighting trick. I have used it with wall sconces, but not with a table lamp. What a great idea! Thank you for sharing wonderful inspiration each week! xo
KariAnne, I love reading your Thistlekeeping blogs and all the fabulous ideas you share! Your great tip on what to do if you don’t have a plug for a lamp is genius!! It’s a keeper along with many other of your tips! Thank you!
All of us seem to love the puck light lamp trick! Apparently this is a common problem. So, I'm not sure what sticky eye thing you ordered, but we've all been there with beauty solutions which aren't beautiful and are definitely not solutions. Several years ago, the formulation for Jergens self-tanner was changed (to make it less stinky, if I remember correctly). I had never had a problem with using it before so I applied like I always had. My kids were small at the time and it was a hassle to go shopping with them. They were with me as we got out of the car to go into the grocery store (which I desperately needed to do) when my daughter looked at me and said, "Mommy, your legs are orange!!". Sadly, she was right. I did the fasted shopping trip ever and have never used Jergens again.
I’ve seen the pucks used for sconces, but this is the first time I’ve seen them used for a lamp!! That is genius!
Hi Karianne! Love me some Thistlekeeping! That house in Waco, what a humdinger! And am getting ready to try the puck light hack. I've heard it called the magic light hack but whatever else it's called, it's genius. Happy Saturday..... and your weird question of the day is this: Have you sampled any of the clothing that advertises on the blog? Is Roselinlin any good? How bout the any of the others? Or are these just ad bundles that show up? Am hesitant to buy internet clothing without a testimony from someone I trust. Thank you for all the inspo your throw at the world! You are a light.
Do NOT order from Roselinlin!!! I placed an order on May 2 and still have not received it. Tracking number is "not found", they have no customer service telephone number. Tried to cancel the order and they refused, saying it had been shipped. Fortunately, I purchased through Paypal and initiated a claim. However, as of July 2, no shipment and no refund.
1. Thank you so much for all of the efforts you make to send us beautiful ideas. 2. Ahhh...the fairytale house. Love it. If we were not old as dirt I would really consider moving there. We visited once, very lovely. Maybe genetic. I have some nordic ancestors. Ha Ha plundering vikings I heard. 3. That large apothecary cabinet almost stopped my heart. Lucky dogs! 4. I can't wait to see your backyard projects.
I love all the inspiration in your posts so much!! Than you so much for sharing my post about the lamp! You’re the best!! Michele (vintagehomedesigns)
Glad to know about the eyelid thing. I was thinking about getting them and now I’m definitely not! You are a wealth of information! Thanks!
You are so funny! I saw those eyelid things too...I was really tempted but didn't do it. Lol. Women are such suckers for these things aren't we? I really have trouble with eyeliner or shadow because my eyelids fold over and then the makeup gets all messed up. I leave the house thinking it looks good and by the time I get home it's a mess. Oh well getting old sucks! I love your blog and always look forward to all your tips and your sense of humor!
Those Facebook ads! Gah - one of the reasons I am not on Facebook much anymore. Your retreat sounds amazing - I am much in need of something like that right now! Happy Monday, KariAnne. PS: I love your sense of humour.
I don't think I can pick my favorite Thistlekeeping tidbit today...they were all so yummy!! Thank you for bringing us so many scrumptious surprises!! Love you!!!
Wow! Had to save the wrap-up until I had time to do it justice! Glad I did! Yes I think you can DIY the towel racks. So many ideas...so little time!
