Random thoughts on a brilliantly sunny Saturday morning:

1. I learned a new term this week.

Flex.

According to the twins, it means you are not-so-subtly dropping compliments about yourself in conversation.

Apparently I “flex” all the time and didn’t even know I was doing it.

2. Have you watched the new Masterpiece series on PBS called World on Fire? It is SO GOOD. It takes place in Europe at the very beginning of World War II and there are so many story lines and characters that draw you in. I may or may not have stayed up until 2:30 last night watching it.

3. I also found the BEST face cream that I’m hooked on. You can order it on Amazon. It’s under $10 and it makes your skin feel so hydrated and soft.

4. Thank you so much for all the sweet comments and encouragement about my new YouTube Channel and the video house tour. I’m going to be posting a new video every week and I can’t wait to share the next one about all the decorating mistakes I’ve made.

5. It was a fun week on the blog. We talked about simple art projects you can make and I showed you a before and after room makeover and how to paint a ceiling and we talked about how far the house has come.

And now?

Ready for a little distraction?

Oh, good.

Me, too.

Here are some of my favorite links from around the web this week.

A friend of mine just started a brand new blog.

And I LOVE IT.

She has so many fun ideas like furniture makeovers and this book page table runner and this open shelving idea so many more.

You can see her blog here.

Love everything about this bathroom.

Especially two sinks in a smaller space like this.

See the bathroom refresh here.

This was my favorite transformation of the week.

Wait until you see the vase before.

Here’s the DIY for the project.

And if you were looking for Mother’s Day brunch ideas?

Start with these muffins.

You can see the recipe here.

And in random news this week:

This yummy strawberry bread

Where to splurge and save

This fun new collection at Target

This creative space

What your habits determine

This beautiful home tour

This creative DIY

This beautiful before and after

I’m going to try and grow this

This beautiful dining room

This upcycled project

And this?

This was my favorite post of the week: How to revive day three hair.

I took notes. 🙂

One more for the road.

I wrote this post a while back about how to mix and match pillows and it’s been pinned over 12,000 times.

You can see it here.

(total aside: I just ‘flexed.” Did you notice?)

I need to check with the twins to make sure I did it right. 🙂

happy random Saturday to you

I smile at the word 'flex'..........I think we all do it more than we know.........yes, I am guilty - is that the word I want to use or just saying I'm in this boat with you too! ha

Honestly, I'd rather hear flexing, or be doing it for myself, than the usual female "I'm sorry" all the time. Stand up and be heard, be proud!

I have clicked on the link for the BEST face cream but its not working:o(. Would you be able to give us the name of the cream so I can go on Amazon myself to check it out? I know you wouldn’t get credit it for it but I’m really looking for a good face cream!! Thanks!

Hi Caroline, if the Amazon link still hasn't worked for you, the cream is this: Eucerin Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Face Cream - Fragrance Free, Moisturizes for Softer Smoother Skin - 1.7 Ounce (Pack of 1). It's a steal at $8.28 - even less with Subscribe & Save@

What a fun weekly wrap up! Thanks for doing it and I don't think you flex. You are just being honest and I agree with Sue above-you are good at what you do, be proud and never apologize for being good!

I am going to ask my son if he knows the word flex. It's hilarious to hear the differences between the boys and girls' vernacular. Is that the right word? I am knee-deep in a history paper with Evan and I woke up at 3am thinking about his essay. I will never look at the classic Frankenstein in the same way after getting thru this writing assignment. Ha! totally a helicopter mom right now.

My dad always says “It’s a pretty sorry dog that can’t wag his own tail.” 😂 He’s incredibly humble! 😉Thanks for sharing my barn loft!

I thought flex was something you did with your muscles. Silly me 😋. BTW, you have mind reading skills! I'm getting ideas for throw pillows and can use a little help!

I enjoyed this much. Even went through most of the list of links you have here. Very interesting. Loved the results of the renovations on the ranch house. Just beautiful.
