Random thoughts on a rainy with a hint of cold Saturday morning:

1. Do you drink regular water or sparkling water?  I didn’t even know sparkling water was a thing until I attended an event where everyone was drinking sparkling water.  I think I’m team plain water with lemon.

2. I just posted a new blog post over on the Jeffrey Court blog about new tile products that are arriving at a Home Depot store near you.  There are so many incredible new options, including the most beautiful patterned tile I have ever seen.  You can read the post here.

3.  I love my mother-in-law.  I was talking to her about the artwork in this room and how I was thinking about moving it to this room and I needed another option and that I was having trouble getting the room right and she suggested the BEST OPTION ON THE PLANET.  We are moving everything around today.  I’ll keep you posted.

4.  Yesterday the twins had a study party.  I surprised them with a “Nothing Bundt Cake.”  Cutest cake store on the PLANET.  All the cakes had a giant sunflower on top.  I was going to take a picture, but the cake was gone too fast.

5.  I wanted to watch the Baylor football game today and guess where it’s playing?  Not television.  Not cable.  Not satellite.  FACEBOOK.

Seriously.

When did watching football games on FACEBOOK even become an option?

*sigh*

I still remember life before cable.

Let’s see what the internet has been up to this week.

It’s like the entire internet wakes up after Labor Day.

There were so many fall ideas to choose from.

This tour was one of my favorites.

Love this tip on how to make chocolate chards.

There can never be enough chocolate for me.

Find the how-to here.

And this fall floral arrangement.

What are those red flowers in the back?  Zinnias?  Some type of hydrangea?  My kitchen needs them, too.

See the rest of the tour here.

And look at this copper.

I never really thought about adding copper to my kitchen until I saw this post.

That rolling pin?

SERIOUSLY.

It almost makes me want to bake.

See the rest of the copper in its kitchen here.

And in random news this week:

Easy fall projects

This coffee table

How to stay married for 50 years

This ceiling

How to paint interior doors

These decluttering tips

Decorating with white pumpkins

These doors

What to do with the rest of your pie crust

I love learning new things.  This post made me smile…

…and pick up a paintbrush.

And one more for the road.

Are you going to Round Top?

Courtney and I are!!!!!!!!!

If you are in the area, we’d love to meet you.  We’re having a joint book signing at Old Glory on October 2 from 5:00-7:00pm.

Hope to see you there!

Happy Random Saturday to you.

I believe the flowers are dahlias. My grandmother used to grow them. So pretty! But wait... what was your mother-in-law's brilliant idea? Inquiring minds need to know. You're leaving me in suspense! :) Enjoy your weekend, KariAnne!

KariAnne, we have a plethora of those red dahlias here. I believe the variety is Kyle Mingus. When we moved to the farm, I kept hearing about the beautiful dahlias that the farmer grew here. Word got out that I would like some, and the next fall, the farmer's granddaughter's husband was at my door with a large box full of dahlia bulbs. I love that the dahlias have come home again. Here in the North Country we have to dig them up and store them in the basement for the winter, but it is well worth the effort.

Karianne, I enjoy your posts. Your comments are open my eyes to so many ideas. The red flower is a Dalia. Not one for our summer heat, but can be found at most floral shops. Thank you

I believe those are dahlias and Nothing Bundt Cakes are the bundt bombs of the bundt cake world! Best cakes ever!!!!

I prefer still water but I like sparkling champagne! And one can never have enough chocolate! Lots going on this week...Round Top looks like fun. Too bad it's far from NJ. Speaking of that - our 90 degree weather turned and now it's 67 degrees! It's raining but I am loving the change. Enjoy your weekend! Shelley

Sparkling water doesn't even SOUND good to me. Ice and lemon ... or cucumber... or lime in my water does! And I smiled at the pie crust cookies--when I make pie, there isn't any crust left over. However, my mom, in her heyday, made lots of pies and I have fond memories of her baking leftover pie crust and sprinkling it with cinnamon sugar. She broke the baked crust into small pieces and we would gobble them up. The cookie idea you posted is adorable and I would probably be more mindful of how much I was eating if they were in cookie form!

I always love all the neat things you find during the week. I manage to copy & pin most of them. I got your new book yesterday "You Got This". I bought it for my daughter. She will love it. Thanks for writing such an inspiring book.

Definately dahlias! My grandma grew them in all kinds of varietys. But her favorites were “dinner plate”. They were big and beautiful.

Want to throw in something off the subject--Reunions. Lots going on now (reunions) and the need to take pictures of each family. Someone needs to be designated to take the pictures and then e-mail them to everyone so they get a chance to see them and pick out what they want. It's a job but everyone enjoys the results!!!

I've been a huge fan of that bakery and was over the moon when I found out that both of my nieces work at Nothing Bundt Cake! (Well, one did till she went off to college then her sister took her spot.) It is the perfect answer to so many dessert/ entertaining dilemmas. YUM. Haven't met a flavor I didn't like! I love the itty bitty ones to serve at tea parties.

Yes... Dahlias are my son's fave flower! His fave used to be Bird of Paradise. Go figure! (Pray for me if the thought crosses your mind, friend. Hugs.) Great features this weekend!
