I need a little help this morning.

(total aside:  I actually need help in more ways than one today….starting with my hair, but for sake of time I think I need to limit help to the topic at hand)

I’m working on the book promotion and ideas and tours and marketing and I have one question:  if you could sit in an auditorium and listen to me speak on any topic….

….what topic would you like to hear me speak on?

Anything at all.

Any. Single. Thing.

Like Interspace dating:  Exploring new life on Mars?

Or Hair questions we all wonder about: Should you trim or own bangs or leave it to a professional?

Or Grammar conundrums:   Is it their, there or they’re?

Or the ever popular oft debated question:  are leggings be considered pants?

Inquiring speaking minds really want to know. 🙂

This is such an easy project.

I love your posts on photography and always enjoy the beautiful photos you share. More tips on getting those perfect shots would be very interesting! Thanks for all of the great ideas you share.

You have so much to offer and an amazing wealth of things you could talk about. I would hang on your every word regardless (although I don't see leggings in my future....) but I am kind of in awe of what I can only assume are your military-precision-like skills at time management and planning. HOW ARE YOU DOING ALL THIS!!!!!!? or rather, how have you done all this? how have you learned to set things up to produce so much beautiful content on such a regular basis while keeping up with kids, house etc?

I would have to say that I would be willing to listen to anything at this point as I have just discovered you yesterday, lol. Interstellar space drives aside, I have a strong bent for DIY and living simply with useful items that are also beauty for the eye... I eat off my Depression Glass daily just for an example and nothing has to be perfect or a set match in my life. I love all the forms of expression that people find whether I would do it or not. Oooops, turned into a bit of a missive, but that is me. Looking forward to future articles.

I love how you wrap your blogs into these delightful stories, always with a lesson learned, always with clear observations about life. I would love to hear you talk about storytelling. Have a great weekend!

  5. Image for june june

I too love your family stories. Your DIY's are easy to follow. Best of all I could sit back and listen to you talk all day...I love how you express life, family and your beautiful surroundings in words.

Just go for it ! Speak what ever comes from your heart! Your family which is so loved, your pets ( which I love your Golden since I have two ). Your pretty home or any of your great ideas !

I imagine any group would be disappointed not to see some clever DIY project photographs, and a show-and-tell piece would be icing on the cake. But in looking at your "About" statement: It’s about family and tortoises and burlap and shutters and twirly whirly skirts and pancakes and Lee Press-On-Nails and little pieces of paper. I think you could speak with eloquence about how small details and decisions shape a family.

You have such a knack for storytelling, no matter what the topic, you'll find a way to weave them in in a meaningful way. I'd love to hear you talk about how you make your beautiful house a home for your family - DIY projects, decor ideas and some real life Mom stories (those are always my favourite to read)!

  9. Image for Taste of France Taste of France

I think people would be interested in hearing about how you find the right balance between sharing stories about your kids and respecting their privacy. Some blogs make me cringe a little for what the parents tell or the extent to which the children are almost exploited in photos. But a lot of the readers are moms, and we do like to hear stories about other families. I think there are ways to share the universality of some experiences without revealing personal details that aren't ours to divulge. You seem to do a good job of it.

Courage....you are a fearless woman. I want to know how to jump with both feet instead of standing back and analyzing every option to death.

I would love to see pictures of every room in your home and learn how you make things beautiful yet homey. How your family actually lives in it. It is a special place!

  12. Image for Lynn W Lynn W

I would love to hear more about blogging and how it has affected you and your family. Personally, professionally and listen to your stories of real life. You have such an engaging personality and it really comes through in your blog posts. Just be you! :)

ALWAYS love Saturday mornings with Thistlekeeping and my coffee. Loved each one this morning. Thanks for always inspiring. :-)

I'd like to know what you do in one day. A normal day. You get so much done and go so many places and have so many kids and there's twinkle eyes and all the pets...

Karianne, what inspired me to even read your first blog, was the story of HOW God directed you and your husband to KY. It was so inspiring to read how the two of you listened to God's call. How far he has brought you and how through your lives there God has inspired you to do all the projects and use your many talents to reach soooooooooooooo many people. Always share about your family and show photos of your wonderful disign ideas. Be

I agree! That way you could share your passions along with your faith. Have you thought of where you want to go as well as where you are needed? Forever your cheerleader and God bless you sweet pea in this new adventure! He will and yes already is at work on his next project for you talented lady.

KariAnne, you are one amazing lady and we all love you for being so special! Have a wonderful week-end! Blessings!

Hi Karianne, I would like to hear how blogging has changed your life, the good, bad and ugly. I personally think you do a tremendous job of sharing your family and respecting their privacy. How do you make it look so easy.

Miz karianne.....I would just love to hear you speak in person! And be in the front row, front and center, and then be able to give you a big hug! A big hug for all the stories you've shared, especially about growing up, missing your Dad, all the memories you have....and tell you how much you are appreciated and respected and admired. I would love to see a slide show of old pictures, and newer pictures, and it would be icing on the cake to see your entire family on stage with you at your closing. Uhm....what was the question again? LOL, you are amazing little one. Happy Weekend!

KariAnne ~ I absolutely would love to hear you speak about ANYTHING, but my first thought was the same as David said early on: How do you manage all that you do ... Kids & "Twinkling Eyes" (first priority always ~ I'm sure), Home, Church, Blog, DIYs, Charity ... just cannot see how you can do it all and still rest! Maybe I could glean something/anything from your speaking to that! I'm older, but even when I was your age, I didn't have the energy you must possess! But most of all, I'd just love to be "in the room" ... !

I would love to hear more "how to" projects. I love the recipe wall that is a plate rack, the wooden boxes that are cut and hanging on the wall, the window frame that you use as to keep track of activities, etc. etc, etc. I want to know how you look at something and see something completely different and it is absolutely beautiful. I also love to hear stories about your sailor and your children.

KariAnne, you could read the phone book and people would listen :) I would love to hear some of your stories. Also, would love to see the laundry room above, but the link takes me to the tool organization post that is before it. Please update and I can check back later. Love me some laundry room inspiration!

What I absolutely LOVE about you is that you can go from subject to subject and I can follow you. It's like were in the kitchen sitting and just gabbing. You could talk about your hair, your red lipstick, your nails or the poop between your toes. It doesn't matter. I feel like I just walked into your house, you grab my hand and drag me into "wherever" and bare your soul. I said it before and I'll say it again -- I love it. You make me feel special? like you're talking to me -- not at me. We're sharing in a conversation. Oh my, that is so special. You, my friend, are my inspiration. There will never be another you, but I can always aspire to make my readers feel comfortable and unique. Keep doing what you're doing -- you've got it right.

I was reading through the comments and agree with so many. Just be you. You feel like a best friend whether you are sharing stories about your family, doing a DIY or even talking about a new camera lense. You are like a ray of sunshine.

My dear, I want to learn about story telling from you. I recently changed my blog tag line to Rescue. Repurpose. Reinvent. Rewrite the Story. But I don't really know how to do the story telling part, and you, my friend, are the master. ??

If I was to hear you speak as a speaker to crowds of us peeps... I would absolutely LOVE to hear what your childhood was like, who inspired you to become the talented woman you are today, when was it growing up in which you knew you loved to create! where and how in your brain do you come up with the wonderful words you choose to share with all of us on your blog. What drives you? And these are just a few topics for now....at least the ones which come to the fore-front of my mind!

  26. Image for Julie Briones Julie Briones

I agree with David. I would love to hear about time management. Also, because it's a hot-topic for me right now, a how-to on photography.

  27. Image for Patricia Patricia

I am would like to learn how you go about designing your fabrics. Do you sit down with graph paper and colored pencils? Maybe you use a computer? What comes first, the color pallet or the pattern? I also love hearing about your brother and sister's creations. You are one amazing, talented bunch!

  28. Image for sharon comly sharon comly

I would like to hear how people can discover their own decorating style and what are the most things to consider when decorating your home. Also, how to keep it low key and not to stress too much about it. I would love to hear you someday and I will definitely be buying your book!

  29. Image for Peg Peg

I think I would like to hear about how you balance family life, home decorating, blogging, a fabric line and writing a book/ Do you have hired help? Fairies? Elves? : )

  30. Image for Colleen@LilacDriveDesigns Colleen@LilacDriveDesigns

I would love to hear you speak about finding inspiration...in your life, your business, relationships, etc. I think you would rock it! I say this because over the years I was blogging (even though I stopped blogging last year) you always, always-- lifted me up when I was struggling, had kind words and suggestions and were simply amazing. One of these days we'll get to meet in person so I can just give you a big hug.

"Home & Family" ( I know.. more than one word ... but :) ) .... always real.. so many stories that you share with perfect strangers .. well, most of us anyway.. that hit a cord in all of us in one way or another !!! I still laugh out loud when I read a new post and then REMEMBER a former post that was unbelieveable and hilarious !!!! Like when you went to an event and spoke and thought so highly of how it went and how well you had done ??? UNTIL .. you tripped and rolled down that hill ?? lololololololololol........... more home and family and life stories !!!!!

Kari Anne I can't tell you how much I appreciate your thoughtfulness and encouragement including me here on your post - thank you! I have always looked up to you and what an inspiration you are. I am SO looking forward to your book and all that you are doing... have the best weekend!
