At the top of the stairs, around the corner and through the door, at the end of the hallway…
…is the coziest room in our house.
The room that makes you sigh after a long winter’s day.
The room that makes your heart snuggle.
The room that makes you want to kick off your shoes and wrap your toes around the carpet and pull up a furry blanket and pour a cup of hot tea and rest your weary self.
The room that makes all the troubles of the world…
…melt away.
This bedroom.
The rest of the house has hardwood floors.
And I love hardwoods, truly.
But in my cozy room?
On a cold winter’s morning?
When my toes are chilly and my feet are freezing and I’m tip-toeing to turn on Christmas lights and I don’t want to make a sound?
And at the end of the day?
When the lights are low.
When I’m putting on yoga pants and a messy bun and popping popcorn.
When the Christmas lights are twinkling and my feet want to snuggle.
Carpet is best.
If you are looking to add a little cozy to your space here are some of my best tips:
1. Add a throw
Or two. Or four.
Drape them over chairs.
And beds.
And benches.
That way they are within arms reach at a moment’s notice.
2. Add texture
The key to cozy is adding texture to your space.
Faux fur pillows on the bed.
Down tufted benches in your space.
Chunky knitted throws for your space.
Cozy is a feel and a feeling.
3. Appeal to the senses
Well-rounded cozy is best–especially when you appeal to all the senses.
Bring in fresh evergreens.
Snuggle up with hot chocolate and marshmallows and cookies.
Tuck in a down throw.
Listen to the sounds of your favorite Christmas carol.
Watch the lights twinkle on the tree.
4. Add carpet
Nothing says cozy in a space like carpet.
Whether Berber or Frieze or Plush or Shag—the key to cozy in a space is wrapping your feet in warmth and comfort.
And the best part?
In addition to being beautiful and cozy, carpet can also improve indoor air quality—making it a good choice or everyone including people with asthma and allergies.
So if you want a room that makes you sigh after a long winter’s day or makes your heart snuggle or makes you want to kick off your shoes and have the troubles of the world melt away add a little carpet.
And let your weary room rejoice.
And just in case you needed an extra dose of cozy?
I thought it might be fun to see the Christmas lights during the day…
…and with extra twinkles at night.
And now?
Today?

Me too on the bedroom carpet for a cozy feel on the toes. I love those white marble trees. Where did you find them? Thanks if you are able to reply. Merry Days to you and yours.
Donna, The trees came from Target last Christmas! They are marble. :) Merry Christmas friend! karianne
What a beautiful and cozy bedroom! I love my beautiful wood floors, but wouldn't trade the carpet in the bedroom, especially on cold winter mornings. Merry Christmas!
I have a beautiful all soft grayblue carpet in my gray blue master bedroom and it is so cozy. I just love that bedroom.
Agreed! Carpet in bedrooms - it's Ohio - we stay cold a very long time. Getting my coffee on the cold kitchen tile wakes me up so rudely, haha. I so need new carpet in my master!!!!! Yours looks amazing - such a gorgeous master, KA! Thank you and thanks to The Carpet and Rug Institute for the opportunity to actually get one! This give-away really couldn't have come at a better time.
Carpet in the bedroom is the best for my cold feet! Love your bedroom....elegant and cozy 🌲
Unless you live in warm weather climates, carpet is a necessity in the bedroom for warm feat in winter ! Love the white decor!
Your room looks so cozy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love your JOY NOEL Garland on the tree. Where did you find it?

So pretty - and soft and welcoming … and COZY! I love it! We re-did our bedroom this past summer and I am still trying to add some elements to make it more warm and cozy so your tips are very timely! Thanks!
Love your chairs in the bedroom. Where did you get them?
They came from Kirkland's! Merry Christmas! karianne
Love this room. It is the epitome of cozy. I'm in the middle of giving my bedroom a makeover and am definitely incorporating a number of the cozy elements you mentioned.
I sometimes think I overdo with throws. They are everywhere in my house--in my defense, they all get used regularly! And I also agree about bedrooms with carpeting--I love the look of hardwoods, but I prefer the feel of carpet. Such dilemmas in life! :)
KariAnne, I did learn something about carpet and pets.... we installed new carpet in our bedroom in May (loop). What a mistake, our one dog a pulled up the loops all over the room, so sad. When we replace this carpet it will be cut pile, who knew. I agree carpet on the bedroom floor is a must!
I need 4 rooms recarpeted....whoa is me.. I love your room, it looks so serene.
Your bedroom is so cozy Karianne! I agree that carpet when you have wood floors throughout is so great especially in the winter! Thank you so much for a great giveaway, and Merry Christmas!!! Hugs, Tanya
I have 4 dogs and live in California ;-), area rugs are my friend! I adore your cozy bedroom!
Area rugs and quilts are my go-to's for a cozy home. I can make the quilts but I can't make the rugs. Thank you for sharing CRI with us so I have another rug source.
KariAnne, where did you get the dresser in the last pic? Is it an antique? Love, love!!! xoxoxo
More than anything, I love the sign over the bed. It's one of the songs from a childhood favorite movie, Urban Cowboy. Did you make the sign? It really is such a sweet message. Janet
Just beautiful so cozy looking! I loved your room exquisite.
Karianne, What is the name of your carpet? I just love the color and texture...I need new carpet!!! It's just beautiful....
