Dear wonderful, patient, kind, insightful, ingenious, generous people of Walmart,
You are the best.
I cannot thank you enough.
My Thanksgiving table today will be better…..
…..because of each and every one of you.
Thank you to the line of people by the egg department.
Thank you for waiting patiently as I opened up the containers one after another to make sure none of the eggs were broken.
Your words of encouragement and helpful suggestions on which container to open next and discussions about large eggs versus medium eggs and why brown eggs had more flavor helped me choose my eggs wisely.
Thank you to the team member who explained the difference between fresh and frozen turkeys.
I didn’t even know turkeys came fresh.
Thank you for strongly discouraging me from buying a frozen turkey 24 hours before Thanksgiving.
I would be crying and ordering gas station pizza today if it wasn’t for you.
Thank you to the butcher who introduced me to sage sausage.
Thank you to the manager who walked me over to the turkey bags and told me they were a must.
Thank you to the five people who discussed chicken broth with me and told me I didn’t need the package that was as big as a two liter coke bottle. Thank you for telling me 16 oz. of chicken broth would work out just fine.
Thank you to the lady in the produce section who introduced the holy trinity of stuffing vegetables and explained that when the list said onion it probably meant yellow onion.
It only took 23 of you to walk me through the shopping list for today.
Thank you for being so kind to the lady with the hair piled up on top of her head with a random bobby pin dangling from her bangs, wearing yoga pants and a frazzled expression…..pushing a cart and holding a cell phone with recipes on it and clutching a list full of scribbles and parenthesis.
It takes a village to put that Thanksgiving dinner on the table.
And I’m so glad you are part of mine. 🙂
PS And ditto to all of you.
Thank you for reading and listening and commenting and cheering and encouraging and giving me all those biscuit recipes so long ago.
I couldn’t have done it without you. 🙂
