How to Thanksgiving Table Ideas

Dear wonderful, patient, kind, insightful, ingenious, generous people of Walmart,

You are the best.

Truly.

I cannot thank you enough.

My Thanksgiving table today will be better…..

…..because of each and every one of you.

Simple Thanksgiving Table Ideas

Thank you to the line of people by the egg department.

Thank you for waiting patiently as I opened up the containers one after another to make sure none of the eggs were broken.

Your words of encouragement and helpful suggestions on which container to open next and discussions about large eggs versus medium eggs and why brown eggs had more flavor helped me choose my eggs wisely.

Thanksgiving Table Decor

Thank you to the team member who explained the difference between fresh and frozen turkeys.

I didn’t even know turkeys came fresh.

#brilliantidea

Thank you for strongly discouraging me from buying a frozen turkey 24 hours before Thanksgiving.

I would be crying and ordering gas station pizza today if it wasn’t for you.

Thanksgiving Table Ideas

Thank you to the butcher who introduced me to sage sausage.

Thank you to the manager who walked me over to the turkey bags and told me they were a must.

Thank you to the five people who discussed chicken broth with me and told me I didn’t need the package that was as big as a two liter coke bottle.  Thank you for telling me 16 oz. of chicken broth would work out just fine.

Thank you to the lady in the produce section who introduced the holy trinity of stuffing vegetables and explained that when the list said onion it probably meant yellow onion.

Not white.

Or purple.

Thanksgiving Table Ideas Linens

It only took 23 of you to walk me through the shopping list for today.

Thank you.

Thank you for being so kind to the lady with the hair piled up on top of her head with a random bobby pin dangling from her bangs, wearing yoga pants and a frazzled expression…..pushing a cart and holding a cell phone with recipes on it and clutching a list full of scribbles and parenthesis.

Seriously.

It takes a village to put that Thanksgiving dinner on the table.

And I’m so glad you are part of mine. 🙂

PS  And ditto to all of you.

Thank you for reading and listening and commenting and cheering and encouraging and giving me all those biscuit recipes so long ago.

I couldn’t have done it without you. 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving.

Ha ha! I nearly cried when I realized I was going to have to make a Wal-Mart run on the day before Thanksgiving. For dog food no less! I just wanted to make sure I didn't have to go out on BLACK FRIDAY for dog food. Yikes!!! I got lucky and found a 20 items or less cashier with no line. Woot!!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Your story is hilarious and so cute! On my first Thanksgiving away from home, I made the mistake of keeping the turkey frozen until the morning of. I attempted to speed up the thawing process by boiling the turkey. Needless to say, it turned out to be pretty dry in the end. I also forgot to buy milk, a key ingredient for some cakes I was planning to make, so I attempted to improvise with powdered milk I had in my pantry. That also turned out pretty badly. Live and learn.

Well, I would have walked you right through it all. My heavens you had your cell phone and I was just a ringy-ding away!! I bet they were in absolute awe of your bouncy blonde curls, beautiful eyes and red red lips!! They probably couldn't take their eyes off of you. Of course they would help, they probably wanted to adopt you and your whole family. Put my number on speed dial and I'll always be there to help. Happy Thanksgiving and I'm giving up a prayer of thanksgiving that you didn't purchase a frozen turkey. BTW if you have a Kroger and you're in a pinch -- you can buy a meal for eight really cheap. They provide everything. Now that is if you're in a pinch. Otherwise CALL!! Big Hugs and I hope you had a wonderful day.

Wouldn't change a thing about you. Love who you are. Thanksgiving blessings to you and yours. You would definitely be the kind of person that I would want to run into in the produce line at Walmart.

In changing the subject a bit......want to "Thank-you" for always bringing us the upmost wonderful blog posts! You are truly a Thanksgiving Angel to a whole lot of us around the world! Wishing and hoping you and your family had a super good Thanksgiving Celebration! Now.......onto the beautiful Christmas Holiday! :) :)

Fyi: the link didn't work on this post, but as they say there's more than one way to skin a cat, so I went directly to your site. Love your "it takes a village" comment because after years of producing that mammoth dinner all by myself, This year I joined my daughter's in-laws for a pot-luck style Thanksgiving dinner, and actually enjoyed myself. A traditionalist, my husband says we're not doing that again next year, but he'd better round up some Indians to help this Pilgrim if he wants the big spread. Thankful I didn't have to do it all alone this year!!! Glad you had encouragement; hopefully you had hands-on help too. I advise making your children help in the kitchen, even though they will likely be messy trouble, because it will pay off later.
