When the twins were born, this is the room that they came home to.
We had a house (you can see the house before Thistlewood here) that we lived in that was a couple of blocks away, but we were in the middle of renovations and the house was full of dust and the twins were preemies who were born at 29 weeks and when they finally came home from the hospital after a month they both weighed right around 4 pounds.
Way too little to be around dust.
So we temporarily moved into my parent’s home.
Right into this bedroom.
There was a full-sized bed pushed all the way to the left and the crib was on the wall to the right. They shared a crib because they were so tiny.
I was so nervous and scared and I paced this floor more times than I can count with those tiny little babies in my arms.
This room has come full circle after we bought the house back and now Whitney lives here (with Westleigh just across the way).
And now?
Thanks to all of you and the big rug selection of 2025?
The room looks like this.
// blue and white rug //
Our RUG.
The one that got the most votes (including the most important vote—Whitney).
When I first unrolled it, I had one thought.
WE CHOSE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL RUG.
Seriously.
// blue and white rug //
Look at the pattern.
Here’s a close-up of what the details of the pattern look like.
The background color is slightly whiter and less cream than it looks like in these photos. The pattern has flowers and swirls and vines and it looks so elegant and I only paid just a little over $100 for it. And whoever suggested turning it horizontally I wish I could give you a standing ovation.
It made all the difference in the space.
BEST EVER.

// blue and white rug //
Here’s a pulled back photo of the room so you can see the rug in the space.
It is the happiest room ever.
These pictures don’t even show the joy, so I filmed a video that you can see over on Instagram here.
// blue and white rug //
// pink watercolor dotted pillow covers //
Instead of the bench at the end of the bed?
I added these baskets.
I got them years ago (they are the Safavieh brand) and they have casters that roll everywhere. I tried to source them for us, but I couldn’t find any that were this sturdy and this size.
They are oversized and are perfect for holding all the extra blankets and pillows at the end of the bed.

If they were handing out awards for the happiest bedding on this planet—this would be the winner.
I found this pillow at Hobby Lobby, but if you don’t have a Hobby Lobby near you—look what I found—almos the exact pillow covers. They are so bright and happy and bring in a pop of color.
I love, love, LOVE this gingham bedding. I ordered it for the Cape bedroom, too, and it has a zipper and little ties on the ends of the duvet cover that you can tie the duvet onto. It comes with a set of gingham shams, too.
You can see the gingham bedding here.

// XO XO art (similar) //
// blue and white curtains // tulip pillow cover //
I got this artwork at Hobby Lobby, too.
These are actually the same piece of art.
Here’s a simple artwork hack—I took the piece of art and painted it with new colors and new designs to make it into two different pieces.
I’ve actually flipped art upside down and painted it, too, to make it look different.
// Jane Austen playing cards //
And look at this.
The cutest playing cards EVER.
I got them for my birthday and each of the cards has its own Jane Austen character—from Mr. Darcy to Emma they are all there.
You can see the Jane Austen playing cards here.
This room has been here for so many of the events in our lives.
And now it’s changed up and decorated up and ready for the next chapter.
You know.
The one where that tiny little preemie?
Graduates from college and comes home for the summer. 🙂

That room is gorgeous, thank you for sharing!
The room looks beautiful I love the rug that was the perfect one. What a beautiful space!
How is it even possible that those girls are graduating from college?! Gorgeous room and am coveting that rug! Love the bedding, accessories, all of it, including those cha-cha navy shoes with tassels!
KariAnne, it just looks beautiful and it is totally you. So cheerful, so bright and so put together. Love the rug in there. Great choices.
I want to live in that room! It’s so cheerful and welcoming.. ♥️♥️
Such a happy room! I love the nightstands. Is there a source for those? The rug looks perfect.
How cute! I absolutely love the big baskets!
The room turned out amazing! Love all the colors -- what a great idea to paint the art from Hobby Lobby to change it up. Love Hobby Lobby, too! Whitney will love the room -- can't believe she is graduating. Thank for sharing!
Cutest room ever! How fun!
What are the dimensions of your Safavieh baskets with casters? You know your team of groupies is going to go on a mad hunt trying to find something very similar for you to post! 🤣😂
Whitney is so lucky to come home to such a cheerful room. I love it and I am sure she will too. All the pops of color make me happy , how could you not be.
The tulip pictures and the colorful pillow on the bed are gorgeous!
Wow! Time flies... I remember when the girls were starting their own business from their dorm rooms! Seems so long ago. The room is gorgeous and you did a wonderful job. Welcome home soon girls 😊 Big Hugs
The room looks AWESOME, KA!!!!! That surely was the best rug choice. And I wasn't sure how I felt about the springtime lumbar till I saw it together. Yes, yes yes what a fun pop of color - but what makes it work SO perfectly? Your use of the round artwork to the left tying it all in together. Add those moss rabbits as the bridge. WELL done! I have to say the VERY clever way you changed that round artwork was genius. (And I just love knowing that full circle story. It is just so neat and special.)
Such a gorgeous room you put together for your precious Whitney! So nice to see pictures of it all finished. Just love all the special little touches you added -- little blue and white bunny, the Mackenzie-Childs vase, those lovely pink flowers in the milkglass vase, the lovely art, the bedding and that beautiful carpet. KariAnne, you have, once again, done such a fabulous job. Your Whitney will just love it! Have a great day!
Ditto! Spectacular!
Such a SWEEEEEET room!! I love the rug, the baskets with pillows, the gingham, Hobby Lobby wall art and those precious green bunnies!! 💖
Stunning! It looks like spring sunshine☀️! BTW Rifle Paper Co has classic books (at least they did before Christmas). They would go perfectly with this beautiful room. Book covers look similar to the cards!♥️
Great job! love the pattern mixing! Might have to get that wildflower pillow.... definitely in my wildflower era. Just bought a journal with wildflowers on front and back covers for bullet journaling.
You must be punctuating this decorating adventure with a big fat exclamation point!! Love, love!! xxp
Beautiful and welcoming!! Anyone should enjoy sleeping or hanging out in that room.
Wow! I normally look but don't comment. I have to comment--can't hold it in...this room is a delight! I just added your style to my own style--the pom pom shams...I have sham inserts and now know what I want to do with them.
