As you are reading this….
….bhg is in the house.
I know.
Seriously.
At this point I’ve told you….the general population of Wal-Mart….my entire county….the guy at the gas station….my sunday school class….
….and a few random assorted people at Hobby Lobby.
I might be just a little excited. ๐
I had big plans for the day.
Big…..I’m telling you.
Like when it was time for lunch here at Thistlewood…..this is what I was going to be serving them…..
……Cherry Cheesecake in a Jar.
Yes…..please.
Easy and simple and looks exactly what you should be serving people that come to Kentucky from much fancier places to visit your home with cameras.
But….you see…..well….umm…..
….sigh.
There are days when I’m a whole lot of talk and not enough action.
I was hanging stockings and cutting fresh greenery and cleaning the back porch and sewing pillows….and I did spend a considerable amount of time discussing evergreens and the new season of Downton Abbey with everyone in the produce section of Wal-Mart.
And I totally forgot to make it.
Now…. tomorrow is here…and so is bgh.
And there’s nothing for lunch…..
…..good thing we have that famous gas station pizza. ๐
In case gas station pizza isn’t on your menu…..here’s the mason jar recipe just ย for you.
Cherry Cheesecake In a Jar
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 tub of Cool Whip
1 stick of margarine, melted
1 cup of sugar
1 can cherry pie filling
8 oz. cream cheese
1 cup of chopped nuts (optional)
4 small mason jars
1. ย Mix cracker crumbs and melted margarine.
2. ย Press mixture onto the bottom of each of the mason jars.
3. ย Mix cream cheese and sugar.
Spread over crumbs in jars.
4. ย Fill rest of the jar by layering cherry pie filling and Cool Whip.
Alternate layers.
On the last layerโฆ..add a cherry on top and sprinkle extra graham cracker crumbs on last layer of whipped cream.
Or nuts.
Chill before serving.
Makes four servings.
I’ll be back tomorrow with all the details.
The uncensored….uncut version of Christmas and bhg in January.
You can follow along with me on Instagram if you want all the behind the scenes.
Happy day friend!
PSย There are tons more recipes here and one of my favorites farmhouse pecan pie here.
BHG...so exciting! I know it will be awesome! Oh, and this recipe...YUM!! ~Sonya
Today I received my first post and Iam lost. What does bgh mean?
better homes and garden magazine
Congratulations! You deserve it! So exciting! I can't wait to see all the details. And oh my goodness ... that cherry cheesecake looks so pretty and sooo good! Love me some cheesecake!
Oh how fun! Have a super day!
I am thinking of you, and I share your joy!
How exciting and well deserved but truth be told, it is BHG who are the lucky ones. They have the pleasure of being in your beautiful and inspiring home with the added bonus of having you as their guide and hostess. Enjoy your day. Suzanne Pieced Pastimes PS - BTW, the cheesecake looks amazing too!
Cool Whip??Really? Take a course in nutrition or just read the ingredients on the container. Would you feed that to your children? Cherry pie filling is loaded with bad sugar. How about just fresh or frozen cherries and reduce the amount of sugar?
Big, Big Day!!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!
Knock the proverbial socks off the folks at BHG, K! Make the Commonwealth and us Thistlewood followers proud! Praying for you to shine!
Oh my it is your big day! So sorry I was pestering you this weekend. I am so so proud of and for you.. And yes our beloved Bluegrass state. You will knock their socks off! You can never go wrong with cheesecake or gas station pizza in this house. Enjoy your special day! Blessings by the bushels and prayers by the pounds! Hugs from my hill too..
You are so stinkin' cute. BHG will love your home and will love you more. And the cheesecake in a jar sounds yummy.
I know just how you can make it up to BHG! It might not seem like it at first but trust me, in the end they will know how delish it was. First - come on over to my house with some of that cheesecake and gas station pizza. Second - sit and dish with me for several hours while we stuff our faces. Third - go back for seconds of the cheesecake. (and pizza) Fourth - repeat above steps. Oh that's right... Fifth - I write BHG a letter saying how delish it was. Ta DA! Perfect solution. :)
I'll be thinking of you all day!!! They are gonna LUV you and your home! Have fun and enjoy every freakin moment of it!~~~Angela
Wishes and dreams do come true!! Just like everyone else, will keep my fingers crossed and sending POSITIVE thoughts your way!!! Cheesecake looks great too:)
Big Day for you! Can't wait to hear all the details! Got your good earrings on? ;)
So excited for you! Take a minute, breath and be in the moment. Consider the gas station pizza a cultural experience. Dessert makes everything better and cheesecake is delightful. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Wow, that looks yummy! Pinning now! And congrats on BHG, that's so exciting!! ~Lisa @ Practically Perfect Home
Yum, I love cheesecake! It also looks so cute in the mason jar. I just might have to make this...I think I'll do it with real whip cream though...did you know cool whip is basically a petroleum product...found that out years ago and haven't touched it since ;) Good luck with the photo shoot and have an amazing day!
Congratulations! BHG will be blown away by you, your creativity and your gorgeous home!
Karianne, Congratulations again!!! I am so happy for you and not surprised one bit. They will LOVE you and can't wait to get that issue of Better Homes & Gardens!!! It's gonna be fantastic and you deserve every bit of hit. Have a wonderful day, xo Lisa
I think you can totally be forgiven for not getting that little detail done! I mean, after all . . . BHG? :) I can't wait! And just think - after they leave you can take down your Christmas decorations! LOL!!! Have a totally fun day, sweet lady! (and bless their BHG hearts for coming to KY on a day that's 16 degrees after a day when it was 61 . . . oy!)
BHG is going to love you as well as your home with or without the cheesecake. I, however, am SO thankful you posted it! Making it today!! XO, Jane

that looks SO YUMMY! can't wait to make it.
How exciting about BHG! Oh, someone please bring that cheesecake to my door...: )
I just love this jar idea and want to use it the next time I have a group of people in. And, by the way...big congratulations on the Better Homes and Gardens visit. Can't wait to see you published on glossy pages!!! Sheila , MyKentuckyLiving
Some of you out there lighten up. Quite a few of us are unable to eat dairy products. Occasionally, a dollop of CoolWhip is just wonderful! Love your blog!
A bit of Iowa coming to Kentucky..... lovely! I Imagine it will be wonderful! Janita
Who needs Cheesecake in a Jar when you have gas station pizza?! I bet today was AWESOME! Can't wait to see the magazine! Life to the full! Melissa
Miz karianne, I know you knocked 'em dead....no doubt in my mind! And probably by now, nearly 10 pm your time, you are asking yourself why you ever doubted how impressed bhg would be with you and your home. Seriously. Am I right, Rock Star?
You're 89 kinds of awesomeness, woman - I'm THRILLED for you!!! And I laughed aloud when I read that you ended up chatting in the produce aisle about Downton Abbey! (aren't we all? Unless you're busy drooling over Mr. Darcy in the new keepsake edition of the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, which includes a FULL HOUR AND A HALF OF ADDITIONAL NEVER BEFORE SEEN FOOTAGE. Mr. Darcy x 1.5??! Oh lawd!) But, I digress. Back to your awesomeness. I'm sure I saw pompoms on some craft you did a while ago, so envision me waving some oversized ones and cheering your name like some middle aged cheerleader - GIMME A K!!! :))) The pizza will be perfect, you're going to have the experience of a lifetime (which hopefully you will repeat with any number of publications in the near future), and nobody was killed by the cool whip, which one less-than-tactful (tsk tsk...does she not realize you're a southern kinda belle? I mean, manners, much? The reader, not you, I mean.) reader pointed out is a petroleum byproduct and perhaps shouldn't be consumed, at least not orally, or at least not to those you like (my ex husband is fine). Replace with whipped cream - the real, fatterning stuff - and it sounds delish! It sure looks purdy. So ya. My comment is almost as long as your post. And every other sentence has me spinning in my chair, because I'm just that excited for you - you're in the big leagues now, Karianne!!! And we love you :) And we love your smocked curtains. And your to-die-for-butler's-pantry. And your stamped spoons. And your lee press-on nails. And your honesty. And you deserve this day. <3
Oh my goodness, easy cheesecake! I am beyond excited! I absolutely love cheesecake, but never make it. Pinning! I can't even tell you how excited I was to see this!
Oh Kariโฆso excited for you!โฆgood luck on the photo shoot โฆ will be thinking of you waving your hands with excitement!โฆHey, who wouldn't love a great cherry cheesecake in a jar after gourmet gas station pizza!..all the way of course!...
How exciting to have bhg at your house! The cheesecake looks amazing and fun and country-wedding-pretty. :-)
Good morning! I love these so much that I'll be featuring them on my 'weekly wonders' post tomorrow morning. Hope you'll stop by to check it out! ~Lisa
Holy Moly this looks amazing! I wish I had a spoonful to enjoy right now! Pinned this, and found it from the Whipperberry link party! :-) Cathy
ok this looks amazing! I've always wanted to try food in a jar :)
Oh heaven above..... I need to go back to the grocery store, just to make this..... have everything but the cherry pie filling!!!! And you have made me just starve I tell you! I guess I will just have to settle for Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate Chip Cookies instead.... but I am not happy yet, cause I need to get up and go make them. I want that jar right now... sound a little like a typical Aries do I?
I am confused. So is the whole amount of the cream cheese and sugar mixture you added to the jar like what's pictured in step 2? Only about the size of a crust...and then rest of the jar is filled with cool whip? Is there any way to make it more like cheesecake and less like a cheesecake flavored crust?
This looks delicious! You're funny "discussing evergreen and Downton Abbey with everyone..." hehehe
Oh my! Would LOVE for you to link this to Friday Favorites going on now at https://imnotatrophywife.com Love!!!! laura
