Looking for Nutcracker Christmas decor? Here are some of my favorite ways to add Nutcracker decor to the holidays.
// similar glitter house (splurge)// similar paper glitter house (save) // pink bottle brush trees //
This week I decked the halls and put on the cutest Christmas sweater and made the EASIEST banana bread on this planet and turned on the Christmas music all over the house and lit the candles and turned on the crackling fireplace channel on the television.
And waited.
And waited.
And just when I thought I couldn’t wait any more?
Just when I thought I was going to eat the banana bread all by myself?
The door flew open and in danced two of my chicks lugging suitcases and Stanley cups. Suddenly the room was full of laughter and giggles and stories and that house that had felt so empty—now seemed to overflow with so much busy and chatter and exclamations.
It was official.
Thanksgiving break had started and the house was bursting at the seams.
And even better? To surprise them for Thanksgiving break I had their rooms all decorated for Christmas. I watched them walk up the stairs and then waited for the comments over the staircase when they saw their rooms for the first time.
I wasn’t disappointed. 🙂

Here’s this side of Westleigh’s room.
I added this new bedding for Christmas. It’s from the My Texas House line at Walmart. You know how much I love that line and I’ve shared it organically so much this year, that Erin (the creator of the line) sent me a few pieces for the holidays. When the box arrived, I was literally DANCING in my dining room and I knew they’d be perfect for the twins’ rooms.
Seriously.
I mean—-just look at those holly berries. They look like vintage linens created by a skilled embroiderer. It’s the sweetest set that comes with a comforter with the embroidered holly berries all around the edges, pillow shams with embroidered holly berries around the edges and two Euro shames with green ribbon edging.
Yep.
That’s why I love this line so much. Everything I’ve ever ordered exceeds my expectations and the price is so good for the value of the pieces.
// similar galvanized metal presents (these have a red bow)//
I put the tree on this side of the room.
It’s kind of hard to tell from the pictures, but the tree has pink ornaments and nutcracker ornaments and gold ornaments and snowflake ornaments and pink beaded garland and snowball garland with a big white star on the top.
But from here?
It just looks glittery white. 🙂
// sugar plum fairy pillow // glitter house village (similar) //
I’ve been collecting these glitter houses.
You can find them everywhere now. Anthropologie releases new ones every year (and hopefully they will go on sale for Christmas). I’ve found them at Walmart and Michael’s.
I even got a ferris wheel last year on major sale right before Christmas.
I added a few nutcrackers into the village and tons of bottle brush Christmas trees.
There are beaded Christmas trees on the nightstand next to the bed.
And of course—there’s always a little handmade.
(total aside: don’t you think that handmade just makes everything better?)
My sister made these giant tags one year for Christmas and I wish I had tons more of them. Look how cute these map letters are on them. She glued them on and then added a clearcoat to the entire tag. I think next year—I’m going to do an entire tree with tags like these and little world ornaments with places we want to visit.
But my very favorite thing in the entire room?
This quilted Santa.
I’ve decorated Westleigh’s room with it since she’s been little.
My mother made it from my grandmother’s vintage quilts and gave it to me for Christmas one year.
It’s not really Christmas until the quilted Santa shows up.
I wish I could type the joy that is in my heart right now to you.
Another Christmas movie is starting (we just finished Christmas Angel).
I have a cup of Christmas blend next to me on the table and there’s a Christmas puzzle ready for the puzzle table and the Christmas lights are twinkling.
But the most wonderful thing of all?
The chicks are home.
Happy Thanksgiving week to you. 🙂
PS Tons of questions about the banana bread. It’s AMAZING. It comes in a roll and you just squeeze it into the pan. Quick tip–I sprayed the loaf pan with cooking spray and sugared the inside before I added the banana bread mixture.
I found the banana bread roll here.

KariAnne, you are such a sweet MomMa. Thank you so much for sharing your family with us. So much fun hearing your excitement! You’ve done a beautiful job preparing for this Blessed Season! Seeing your sister’s tag and your Mom’s santa reminds me how talented your family is! Don’t forget to show us what you all make for each other this year. One of my favorite post you do each year. And the family PJ’s!
Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving. I ordered the Holly Berry Bedding! It's so pretty and cozy looking. I think it will look beautiful on my Jenny Lind bed. Thanks for the inspiration 👍🥰. Big Hugs,
Beautiful post Karianne! It must be so exciting to have your twins back home for the holidays! I love how you decorated Westleigh’s bedroom. The quilted Santa will become a family heirloom for sure. I love the glitter houses too. Years ago I purchased a pink glitter house (it’s a big one) from a garage sale. Couldn’t believe my luck! It also had several white bottle brush Christmas trees around the base. It’s also meant to light up, but so far Zi haven’t tried that since it’s pretty enough in its own. I hope you and all your fans have the best Thanksgiving ever!!
Oh, the quilted Santa. Sigh. So sweet. Your home is lovely, but Westleigh's room is my fave. Enjoy your family this week. My son comes home tomorrow and then our house will feel complete.
They are home! Your heart is full❤️! Love the quilted Santa and the nutcracker theme, and the bedding sigh😃. I ❤️ bedding so much! As always you did a beautiful job!❤️

With all the world’s problems, we need as much twinkle as we can get. Blessings to you and yours for a beautiful Thanksgiving holiday. Gobble ‘til you wobble!
I love how you decorated Westleigh’s room. Do you remember what paint color is on the walls and where you got her headboard? I love that the whole room feels welcoming and cozy, something I want to create for our guest room.
Have fun. Getting to enjoy the kids when they're home for a holiday is like Christmas early! Karen B.
I wish there was a pattern for your quilted santa. So precious and that your mother made it priceless!
I was blessed to come home from a week stay at the hospital, to spend Thanksgiving at home with my family. There is nothing better!!!
What about the other bedroom?
