This nutcracker Christmas bedroom is full of all the SugarPlum fairies and dancing nutcrackers of the season. See all the tips and ideas here.

Did I ever mention I danced on my toes when I was younger?

Yep.

Toe shoes and lambswool and wrapping my feet up and I perched on the end of a pink satin shoe with ribbons wrapped around my ankle.

Truth?

I was the worst ballerina you’ve ever seen.

My feet hurt and I couldn’t balance properly and I broke my toe and I’d fall over in second position and my pirouettes looked like a wet noodle.

And so it was that after two years of dancing, I gave up my dreams of one day becoming the sugar plum fairy.

Now?

I just decorate like one.

Here’s the cutest Nutcracker bedroom decorated for Christmas.

Nutcracker Christmas Bedroom

The whole idea for the bedroom came when I found these nutcracker pillows. Look how cute. There’s Clara and the nutcracker and the Sugar Plum fairy and the mouse king.

They come in a set of four, but I only used two of them on the bed. The pillows are under $14 for the set of four.

You can see them here.

I also added this bed in a bag/seersucker comforter set and the BEST hotel pillows. I know I talk about them all the time, but they are on sale for 40% off right now and we have them on every bed in our house.

On the other side of the room I added some bottle brush trees.

Here’s a similar set that comes with tons of “nutcracker” colors.

The tag was made my by sister several years ago with these map sticker letters.

Over the mirror, I hung this knitted “PEACE” garland from Target.

You can see it here.

I added a nutcracker tree to the room.

There was the CUTEST 20 piece-nutcracker set on Amazon for about $22.

The tree also has white pom pom garland and white crocheted snowflakes.

Next to the pillows on the bed, I added a Santa my mother made from my grandmother’s quilt.

Then I added more bottle brush trees and this advent calendar from Target.

You can see it here.

All the doors open up and I added a nutcracker standing sentinel.

I wish I could go back and tell my toe-shoe self that it was going to be okay.

Life will go on after dancing on my toes.

The Sugar Plum fairy will live on in my heart.

We go see The Nutcracker every year for Christmas and the twins and my mother already have our tickets for this season.

I can’t wait to see the Sugar fairy dance across the stage…

…just like she’s dancing on my tree. 🙂

PS I added all the sources (and a few other nutcracker suggestions below) if anyone has dreams of a dancing Christmas room, too.

So when I read you danced on your toes I thought how perfect your life was until you went on with your explanation. Then I laughed and laughed. I too wanted to dance but never had the chance. So I decorate with nutcrackers too. I am doing my entry with a 4 foot nutcracker standing guard and garland on the stairs with old ballet shoes attached. There will be a table filled with my nutcrackers too. I have it in my mind but haven't done it yet. We are still remodeling our 100+ year old house so it takes a while to get the decorating done where I can. Thank you for the ideas! I will have to do a bedroom one year. You are a delight and your blog cheers me when I am emmersed in building supplies. I want to be you when I grow up! LOL

Love the Santa your mom made from your grandmother’s quilt. I’ve been wanting to make something for my granddaughter from a quilt that belonged to her great grandmother. This would be perfect. Is there any way your mom would share her pattern? I know this is an almost duplicate comment, but my first one had so many errors. Darn voice text. That will teach me to proofread more carefully.

Love this room❤️❤️❤️ I am blessed to have many ballerinas in my family. My niece now 43 started ballet at 3. She still teaches even virtually. Her oldest daughter is amazing. I sent her your post before commenting. I too love the Santa your mom made. What a wonderful talent. I can tell the genetic nut didn’t fall far from the tree. Wish I was this creative.

Such a cute room Karianne! Love the idea of the Santa your mother made from your grandmother's quilt. Old-World Santas are one of the Christmas-themed items I collect and that's a great idea for one. Also, love the floral quilt at the foot of the bed, and where did you get that beautiful hanging snowball/flake light? I love it! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and holiday season.

Both of my daughters were ballerinas and having collected nutcrackers for over 30 years I know exactly what my bedroom is going to look like for the holidays!! I was not going to decorate it this year as I have every year not wanting to have the same thing up again . I immediately ordered the pillows , tree skirt and ornaments! I can not wait for them to arrive! Thank you for this adorable idea!!
