If there is one thing I’ve learned on this decorating journey…

…decorating doesn’t have to be expensive.

Not for one hot minute.

Some of my favorite rooms on this planet are full of shopping my house or shopping by the side of the road and mirrors that showed up at my front door.

I even wrote an entire series on how to decorate your house for free.

You can see it here.

But truly? One of the most expensive items in a room can be the rug—unless you get lucky enough to find one at a yard sale, traditionally rugs have been super expensive.

But now?

I’ve found 10 beautiful, amazing rugs (most of which I have in my home) that won’t break the bank or your decorating budget.

Are you ready?

Let’s go shopping. 🙂

My Top Ten Favorite Rugs from WalMart

Number 1: blue and white rug

If y’all only knew the amount of messages I get about this rug.

It’s one of my favorite rug purchases I’ve ever made.

You can see it here.

It’s super stain resistant (Buddy has tested this) and comes in a zillion different sizes including a runner.

Number 2: cream and white rug in entryway

This rug is so pretty because it has layers.

It’s really thick and the colors go so well in any neutral space.

This rug is actually out of stock, but I found it’s identical twin here.

number 3: distressed gray area rug

This is the current rug that we have in our family room.

It’s a 12′ x  15′ but it comes in tons of different sizes and colors.

You can see it here.

number 4: patterned gray rug

Here’s a different version with gray as the background instead of white.

A similar damask pattern, just a different look.

You can see it here.

number 5: seagrass rug

And here’s one of my all-time favorites.

I had these seagrass rugs all over the farmhouse in Kentucky.

They are amazing durable (although a little rough on bare feet sometimes).

You can see it here.

Number 6: natural fiber rug

Here’s another natural fiber rug option from the post yesterday.

This rug is not quite as stiff as the seagrass rug and much softer on the feet.

The rug from this photo is discontinued, but I found it’s identical twin here.

Number 7: brightly patterned rug

This rug is everything.

I cannot even tell you how brilliant it is in person.

The colors are absolutely amazing.

You can see it here.

Number 8: muted colorful rug

This is a similar version to number 7, but the colors are a little more muted than in the previous version.

It would work perfectly with colorful or neutral furnishings.

You can see it here.

Number 9: plaid rug

This rug was the surprise hit of the Christmas season.

Maybe because it’s just a little over $100 for an 8′ x 10′?

It sold out TWO TIMES. Every time they’d get it back in stock, it would sell out again.

It’s in stock right now and it’s so cute in any room that needs a little color.

You can see it here.

Number 10: black plaid

This is the red rug’s cousin.

I’ve been looking at this for a while and trying to figure out where to use it.

It’s just a little over $100 for an 8′ x 10′, too.

You can see it here.

I hope one of these rugs inspired you.

Be sure and let me know if you have any questions or need me to try and source something for you.

All of us budget decorators need to stick together. 🙂

Thanks for this post! Redecorating my house and will be using several of these! For me, rugs are the hardest thing to find.

These are nice! Just want to mention Safavieh rugs from Wayfair and Overstock are well-priced and such quality in many nice styles. They are my go-to area rugs for our house.

LOVE that ivory photo of your family room with the current rug, so beautiful and peaceful. Does anyone know the best way to clean a natural fiber rug? We have an ivory one that gets a little dirty where you step on the edges...thanks!

I had ordered, from either Overstock or Wayfair - I don't recall which, a 5x8 natural rug for a room that is really not used that much and we (OK, I) found it to be really dirty - shedding a lot of black silt and little sticks on the floor. After letting it stay down for a couple of months, I asked my husband to get rid of it. I would love another one, but was wondering what your experience has been as far as this issue. I think that ordering one from Wal-mart would be better as you could look at it in person at the store upon pickup and decide if it will work or not.

Ohhhhhh how I love your dining room with that rug! I said it before but it looks awesome! I love it so much more than the other rug. Your dining room is a dream. But of course, I LOVE blue! 😁

How big should the dining room carpet be so the chairs can go in and out without getting caught up in rug? Should it continue out under your side board and hutch also or just come to the front edge of those pieces?

Oh my goodness I wish I had someplace to put that plaid rug! These are all great finds! Am going to order a natural fiber option. I've also had good luck finding reasonably priced rugs at Home Goods.

Woo hoo! Actually managed to get the plaid rug! Tried all holiday season-but always sold out. Thanks for doing all the hard work for us!

I bought the blue & white rug you have in your living room for my living room in December. I have coveted it for quite some time. I bought it to replace another natural rug I had bought last year which my husband hated. So glad I pulled the trigger on the purchase. Both my husband & myself love it. I’ve received numerous compliments on this rug. Not only beautiful but easy on our feet.

I understand having sponsored posts. As a blogger, I am sure that compensation is important. It seems though, that lately, your blog is a WalMart advertisement. :(

Michelle, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean for it to come off like that! The rugs are affiliate links and I do get paid when someone buys them, but Walmart didn’t pay me for this post! They have no idea that I’m even posting it! I just put this on there because the rugs were such good deals and people are always asking me about the rugs in my home! happy day, karianne

I, for one, love that you reference your wonderful Wal-Mart finds. Many of us may not have the funds or access to more high end stores for finding and purchasing the items wanted or needed to complete the look of our homes. Those rugs are all beautiful and look lovely in your home. It is nice to know there are affordable choices. I have never felt your blog is an advertisement for any business, but that it is a wonderful platform for sharing all the things we love about your home and you❣️

Karianne- Look what I ran into on another blog site!!! Can you stand it!! I thought of you immediately, not in a creepy stalker way just "I-have-to-send-this-link-to-her kind of way.

Rugaliscious! I always appreciate it when you share resources, it makes shopping so much easier, and also even if I'm not buying gives me great ideas! I appreciate the time and effort that it takes to put all this together and thank you so much for sharing! One thing I really love is how generous you are! You don't keep things to yourself as far as your home goes, and you share it with so much joy!
