When I was in first grade my father taught me all the states and all the state capitals.

Every.  Single.  One.

Complete with super memorable hints.

As in “What’s the capital of Idaho?”

It’s not girlsie…..but Boise. 🙂

I learned them all and would proudly stand on a box and announce every one of them to anyone who would listen….

….and even a few who didn’t. 🙂

It was my first public speaking experience….

….and I never looked back.

And now that I’m a grown-up I speak about so much more than the state capitols.

I’ve spoken in Texas and Kentucky and Georgia and Utah….

….and now I’m heading to North Carolina for the Becoming Conference.

“Becoming 2014 is a weekend designed to encourage and inspire women to live intentionally by becoming more creative, purposeful, and frugal. As women, many of us desire to be more intentional with our time and financial resources; more intentional with our family and homes, but aren’t sure how to make that happen.

As we gather from all walks of life, we will tackle some of those day to day issues that typically seem mundane and give you a sense of magic. Our desire is that you will leave, not only refreshed, but encouraged, empowered, and motivated with the practical and tangible ideas you have received.

From personal finance, meal planning, hospitality, fashion, home decor, trash to treasure, and more, Becoming 2014 will revolutionize the way we think, not just about our finances, but our homes.”

If you are interested in registering for the conference….click here.

I’d love to meet you.

I’ll be the one with the red lipstick and super-amazing earrings and waving hands…..talking about how to create an amazing home on a budget….

….and I’m counting the weeks until August.  🙂

For me, Becoming is going to be a time to re-connect and re-fresh and take time from this busy life that we are all living….

….to simply “be”.

*sigh*

I can’t wait. 🙂

PS  And just in case you were curious…..

….the capital of North Carolina is Raleigh….(as in….you always ride the trolley to…..you guessed it….Raleigh) 🙂

PPS  I would love to speak and your conference or event, too!

I would love to see you and you'd notice me right away because I'd be waving right back. My hubby swears I can't talk if my hands are tied. Do you have Italian blood in you? In fact if I begin to speak he starts moving all objects away from my vicinity :-)

As a girl from Boise, I'm just thrilled you know how to say it right. I'm tickled that of all the things you could post it was Boise, haha. We can spot anyone who is not a local by how they say Boise...if they say Boy-zee, it's a dead give away. I wish all these amazing conferences would come to the west or pacific northwest for those of us in this part of the country. The conference sounds like it will be amazing. Of all the things I learned in school, I retained all the states and their capitols too...math and science, meh, not so much ;)

I am hoping to make it to Becoming. Trying to find someone to go with me, it's a long drive from the coast. Will let you know for sure asap!
