Looking for ideas on how to decorate a kitchen island? Here are simple, affordable ideas to decorate your kitchen for spring.
Do you know what my favorite thing about shopping is?
When you go into a store for butter…
….and come out with a cart full of stuff you never even knew you needed.
Have you seen the dollar spot at Target?
Stop reading right now and run there.
The dollar spot is full of the cutest stuff right now. There are bunnies and tea towels and bunny cutting boards and mini topiaries and chalkboards and monogrammed ceramic trays.
And I got so distracted, I forgot the butter.
But I came home with these carrots instead and spent the afternoon decorating my kitchen island.
And it turned out like this.
See what I mean?
See why I told you to run?
I know it’s freezing right now.
I know it’s cold and overcast and foggy and wintery.
But sunshine is JUST around the corner.
Spring is ALMOST here.
How to Decorate a Kitchen Island For Spring
Okay, so let’s start with what I found.
I couldn’t find everything online, but I was able to link a few things in case your local store is sold out. Sometimes different stores have different selections. If you follow me on my Instagram stories, I gave an entire tour of our local dollar spot with everything that I got.
- these carrots
- I couldn’t find the white bunnies online, but they come in a set of two. If your local store is out, I found this entire set of five (that are even cuter to me) linked here
- the cutest bunny cutting boards
- this set of gold bunnies
- I couldn’t find these mini trees online, but I found this set of mini flowering trees
- I also found this set of topiaries for only $8.50
- And this set of rosemary topiaries
I put the vintage truck on a cutting board and filled it with carrots.
Then I added the bunnies around the truck.
I found this vintage truck at a shop in downtown McKinney, but I found the cutest white truck that would be perfect for a centerpiece.
You can see it here.
Next, I added a stack of books and scattered a few more rabbits around.
I added a little mini topiary in front of the truck.
There’s also a little teacup of fresh rosemary surrounded by bunnies.
Lastly, I filled a glass vase with faux ficus branches.
I got the branches here and they are SO realistic in real life. They are actually longer than this and they needed to be trimmed down to fit in a glass vase like this.
The glass vase is old, but I found a super similar one here.
Westleigh just came home for spring break and the first thing she did was tell me how much she loved the kitchen island when she walked in the door. It just makes me so happy.
Almost as happy as know that the dark clouds are going away because spring is just around the corner.
Isn’t it amazing what you can find when you aren’t even looking?
All this was just around the corner.
I need to go back to the store for butter.
Who knows what else I’ll find?
I’ll keep you posted. 🙂
