When I first started this blog there were so many things I didn’t know.
Like how to take pictures.
Or how to take pictures with a blurry background.
Or how to add an arrow to a photograph or title a picture or style a room for photos or how to paint a wooden sign…
…or how to hand letter.
And now, five years later and hours and hours and hours of practice….
….I’ve figured out most of those things by myself.
But every now and then I need a little professional help.
That’s when I’m glad I’m friends with Skillshare. Skillshare is an awesome community full of more than 15,000 online classes on skills that are just waiting to be learned. Classes on photography and crafting and creating and designing and blogging and so much more.
In super exciting news….
….you can try it for two months for FREE here or by entering the promo code THISTLE at checkout.
The challenge I have isn’t so much with the lettering.
It’s the layout.
I work on my letters and some days they look amazing and some days not so much, but I can’t ever get them to go where they are supposed to go.
And then I found this class on Skillshare.
It helped with every lettering layout dilemma I ever had and then some.
You start with a simple layout like this one.
And then graduate to advanced layouts and then complex layouts. The class gave me a PDF of different quotes to use and the best part? There was an entire PDF file of extras to add to your quotes. There were flourishes and swirls and decorative elements and lettering pairings.
It took all the guesswork out of a really cute quote.
I’m a big fan of Skillshare.
They offer over 14,000 different classes on everything you can imagine from with 208 hand lettering classes alone.
Here are a few of my favorites:
Four easy steps to modern calligraphy
How to add character to your bounce lettering
Fundamentals for drawing letters
Create your own hand drawn font
This is just a sampling of some of the classes on hand lettering. It’s just what I’m interested in right now. There are over 15,000 classes in every possible area you can think of–from photography to building your social media platform to learning how to blog.
You can check them all out here and design and create and dream and learn to your heart’s content….
….for FREE. 🙂
There are thousands of classes waiting with a seat with your name on it…
….just waiting to help you learn something new. 🙂
