Five of my favorite paint colors for summer

Today I”m so happy to be teaming up with Sherwin-Williams today to showcase some of my favorite summer paint colors.

You see…..I love to paint.

Seriously.

I would rather paint a room than fix a pot roast any day of the week.

Usually I’m all about neutrals.  I’ve already shared my favorite gray paint colors and my favorite white paint colors.

But today?

Today is about fun and summer and sunshine and lemonade and green grass….

….and color.

I'm pleased to partner with Sherwin-Williams for this post to inspire you

This is my home away from home.

This is my local Sherwin-Williams store.

I have been walking through those double glass doors way before I ever had a blog.

Here's me in the paint store looking for inspiration

This is me at my local paint store.

(total aside:  this is the first in a series of pictures where I thought it would be hilarious to toss the paint chips in the air.  Ummm…..can I tell you all the awkward expressions I made in the process?  Only this photo was un-award enough to make the blog).

I should have taken a picture of me waving my hands and pointing and asking a question…..

….because that’s what I’m normally doing when I’m standing in front of the paint chip display.

The best piece of advice someone ever gave me when I purchased my first home…..was to make friends with my local paint store.

And they were right.

Sherwin-Williwms is a great spot to inspire you for your next project

Because sometimes when you purchase your first home or start a remodel project or re-do a kitchen or a bathroom….

….you start here.

Standing in front of the paint chips.

*sigh*

And it can be a little overwhelming.

SO many different ideas and options

That’s why I ask questions.  And that’s why I’m friends with all the people that work at the Sherwin-Williams store.

They know what the best trim color is and if you should paint enamel over latex and how to paint a ceiling and what paint you should use in a bathroom…..

…..and on and on and on.

You see….when it comes to paint…..they know the answers.

Truly.

And now….without further hand-waving or pointing…..

…..here’s my five favorite colors I picked for summer.

Summer color number one- SW Ardent Coral

1.  SW 6874 Ardent Coral

I almost sighed when this picture came up.

This is my go to coral.

It’s what I painted my dresser for the BHG challenge.

It’s the perfect almost orange….but with the slightest hint of pink coral.

Go to color number two- SW Impatient Pink

2.  SW 6854 Impatient Pink

I love this pink.

I painted the hutch in the gatehouse SW 6855 Dragon Fruit and I love it, too.

It’s the kind of pink you would take out on the town and ask to the dance.

A little can go a long way with this vibrant color….so I recommend starting with a piece of furniture.

Kind of like dating it first. 🙂

Third choice- SW Optimistic Yellow

3.  SW 6900 Optimistic Yellow

Okay….seriously….can we start with the name?

Who wouldn’t love a paint color with a positive outlook?

This yellow is soft and warm and cheerful.

And it looks so pretty when you pair it with navy or gray.

Option four- SW Lime Rickey

4.  SW 6717 Lime Rickey

I love this green because it reminds me of the back field here on our property.

It’s fresh and fun and vibrant and full of life.

I want to stripe a wall in this green with white and add a canvas painted with a yellow monogram.

And lastly, a little purple - SW Joyful Lilac

5.  SW 6972 Joyful Lilac

I like a little bit of purple in all my rooms during the summer.

It’s almost a neutral….but with a little pop of color.

This purple is not overwhelming.

It doesn’t shout.

It simply whispers to you when you enter the room.

That's just the starting point, there are so many options to consider at your local store

And there you have it…..five of my favorite colors for summer.

But why stop there?

There are hundreds of color choices waiting to meet you…..

….just around the corner at your Sherwin-Williams store. 🙂

And then I found my favorite color of all - SW Thistle

PS  I think I found my favorite color of all.  🙂

Did they name the paint after you -- Thistle ? I could see you wearing that color. It has a classic appeal but approachable. Not at all like a real thistle that beckons you with the beauty of the flower and then you discover that it is covered in prickly spines. Anyway -- I love your colors and you are soooo correct with becoming friends with paint store people. Have a wonderful day!!

Agree, love my local Sherwin Williams paint store. But why, when I went in to get paint for my second project, did they remember me? Hmm-m-m.....can't figure out if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Now, approaching my forth room, they've confirmed I'm nuts. Do love their sales and discounts!

Our local paint store is also our local hardware store, so they get us for ALL our projects! Lol! Not sure how I feel about one place knowing our skill-levels on so many things!! :) Beautiful, beautiful colors - I'm especially Gond of your "Ardent Coral!!" Happy Monday!

My living room is painted in a color close to Optimistic Yellow. It's subtle but adds warm light to my northern room, especially during our northern winters! Oh, and I'll share my homemade blueberry muffins with you if you'll come paint for me ... ;)

Nice colors - they could almost describe you! You know, ardent, impatient, optimistic, joyful, and a lime Rickey for refreshment!

After seeing a friends daughter's room, four years later I decided Dragon Fruit was the right color for my granddaughter's room. She's eleven and loves it. We accented with bright white. I love all the colors you choose.
