I’m a 7 on the Enneagram Scale.

If you aren’t familiar with the Enneagram Scale it’s a way to help define your personality and what makes you tick. You take a test and answer tons of questions—all designed to give you a number.

And that number?

It tells you all you need to know about yourself.

The 7 is an enthusiast.

(total aside: please act like you are shocked.)

Just between us, I’m not really sure I needed a test to tell me that.

7’s are full of fun and loud and full of joy and hand clapping. They never met an exclamation point or a glass that was half full that they didn’t like. They get excited about the little things.

Like the first sip of hot coffee.

Or the first time you walk outside the door and it feels like fall.

Or a multi-family yard sale sign.

Or inexpensive white pumpkins with a side of white pumpkins on your painted brick fall front porch.

Before we go any farther, can we take a look back?

At this?

This was the porch from last year.

Before we painted it.

Can you see that orangy-red brick that didn’t really go with the house? I think I put all those pumpkins out there because I was trying to cover all the brick up.

But somewhere between the Octobers we painted it.

And now?

It looks like this.

CAN YOU EVEN BELIEVE THE DIFFERENCE?

And the best part?

It’s just paint and white pumpkins.

Seriously.

Even if you aren’t a 7 can you give the porch a hand clap?

The key to this look is mixing in faux pumpkins with real pumpkins.

I’m not sure why I haven’t ever thought of that before.

Maybe it’s because I was too busy celebrating hot coffee.

In super affordable news, I got my faux cream and white pumpkins at Walmart.

They seriously have the best selection.

Like these and these and these and these.

I also found these metal pumpkins for the back porch, too.

For the simplest fall decor project on the planet.

I found these giant white real pumpkins at a local nursery.

I put them on top of a planter and tucked in eucalyptus around them.

I put faux white pumpkins I found at our local Walmart store on the benches.

And then?

On either side of the door, I placed a stack of three pumpkins and draped eucalyptus around it.

I already had these vintage lanterns, but I wanted to add more.

So I found these black lanterns at Walmart.

I placed them all around on different steps.

And then I put these battery-operated candles inside them.

They are super affordable and they come with a timer.

So the candles come on at dusk and turn off around 11:00.

You can set them for whatever time you want.

Walmart is all about fall this year and they have the prettiest collection you can see here.

One more time.

Here’s last year.

And now?

Here’s the after.

Me and my 7 self are so happy.

And the best part? I didn’t overthink the pumpkin placement.

I just put the pumpkins where the told me they wanted to be and it worked out and turned into something amazing.

Because truth? One of the challenges of 7’s is that we aren’t that great with the details.

I know, right?

I can see all the other numbers are shaking their heads at us.

Those 4’s might even be rolling their eyes. 🙂

Have you ever taken the test? If so, what’s your Enneagram number?

You so didn’t need a test! Both porches are so beautiful. Something about autumn and all the cool looking pumpkins these days. I love those gnarly Light green ones.

Gorgeous!!! I am probably not a 7... but I LOVE exclamation points and dots for some drama. Love your blog, you always make me feel like I’m part of the family. Thanks, friend.

I love this! Love the painted bricks.( Orange/red bricks...no love there.) Love all the pumpkins and lanterns. I would really dance to have that big porch. For a big house we have a little stoop. :( I dream of adding a front porch. Sadly, hubby is not feeling it.

Beautific!! I'm not a seven, but I think I'm married to one . . . LOL!! Love the white pumpkins and your different lanterns!! I found some gorgeous lanterns at Michael's the other day - HALF OFF!!!! They're for wedding-decorating - a pretty antique-gold - and I can turn around and use them to decorate for Christmas!!

Love the white pumpkin and the full porch curb appeal look . . .so inviting. We all probably liked your last year's too. OK, I thought I was done buying white pumpkins, but now I will be headed to get more. Love the faux ones with the gold stems. & that you took the time to give us the source . I love that we can use them for Thanksgiving too, harvest and vegetables and fruit. I tuck them in between my white ceramic houses and add twinkling lights in votives. I think I decorate for me but family would be lonely without the warmth of flowers and candles.

Beautiful porch and it looks so welcoming! Where do you store all your decore? Later in the season, you can stack 3 of those pumpkins, paint a face, tie a scarf, and you have a snowman for Christmas.

Your painted brick is so great looking. Haven't heard of anagrams in years but certainly not surprised you are a 7!!! Definitely a positive people loving person who enjoys life to the fullest. Just finished putting together my 4 high pumpkin totems on my black urns on either side of our front door. Used real pumpkins of various colors and just love them. Never met a pumpkin I didn't love. Fall is coming to the southeast this weekend. Hope it reaches Texas soon.

Haha, I didn't have to know about that test to recognize that you are a "7".........biblically speaking, the. Number 7 is "perfect". What else is there to know about you?? Lol Love that porch and ALL the transformative projects you do.. Happy Fall, Little One!

  18. Image for Sheri Sheri

This is so beautiful Karianne. I thought last years porch was pretty spectacular too but this knocks it out of the fall ballpark! Love the painted porch. Paint sure is an amazing thing!

  19. Image for Kris Kris

Both porches are gorgeous. While I don't get excited about orange-ish brick, I admit I do love me a traditional orange pumpkin! So I'm wondering ..... do you have problems with the wind blowing over parts of your displays? Somehow my front porch seems to be a wind tunnel (also, I think we get a lot of wind here in west Michigan) and so I have to be careful what I put out on my porch. I have seen so many pretty porch decorations but sadly, I can't copy them.

Absolutely love the porches! Borrowing your white pumpkins and black lantern ideas for our fall porch. Can’t wait to put it together. Would you please share the source of the black planters too? Thank you so much for making home decorating such a joy!
