Cranberry Sparkler

Have you ever tried to stay up all night on New Year’s Eve?

Did you ever make plans to stay up and put a mud mask on your face and paint your toes and give yourself a manicure with cuticle correcting cream and make your highlights even blonder with lemon juice right after you put an egg deep-conditioning treatment in your hair?

And then watch the ball drop?

And see The Spice Girls sing on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve…..way before Posh ever married David Beckham and got a much cuter hair-cut and her own clothing line?

Did you ever drink diet coke and eat the tub of popcorn with the three divided sections of caramel and cheese and butter popcorn…..until all you had left was the butter section because everyone knows the caramel and cheese are way better flavors?

Did you?

Really?

Me, too.

So just in case you have really exciting plans for an all night popcorn beauty marathon and you need a little refreshment when it turns midnight in Juneau, Alaska…..

…..here’s a great mocktail recipe to toast the new year with.

Cranberry Sparkler

Cranberry Sparkler Mocktail

inspired by this recipe

1 whole orange sliced for garnish

oranges

Directions:

In a pitcher combine pineapple juice, cranberry juice, orange juice and lemon juice.

Just before serving slowly add ginger ale and crushed ice.

Cranberry Sparkler

It is so 2013…..not too sweet with a little fizz and a little tart.

Simple.

Easy.

Delicious.

And it’s perfect for toasting the Spice Girls and eating caramel popcorn with freshly highlighted hair and glowing mud-conditioned skin.

I’m just sayin’. 🙂

Happy New Year!

Awesome Mocktail! My girls will love it! We may just have to hit the storestoo one last time in search of the canned popcorn. Those were the days Kariann! Didn't it seem like that was THE gift to get back then. And the cheese and caramel were of course the best! If you were a Spice Girl you would be Hostess Spice or Crafty Spice or maybe even FarmHouse Diva Spice :-). Have a wonderful New Year's Eve and happy 2013 to you and your family.

YUM! Thanks for the recipe KariAnne! I'm actually planning to watch the ball drop in London which happens at 7:00 EST. I'm such a lightweight that staying up til Midnight isn't likely to happen. Plus this way, my little one can be part of the fun and still get to bed at a reasonable hour :-) I'll have to download some Spice Girls mp3's to round out the night! :-) Happy New Year my friend!!!!

Ok...if I start when you start, and you end when I end, that will give us both three extra hours of indulgence due to time zone craziness. Kapeesh? Have a wonderful new year and stay safe with all that mud masking.

In the North we spent the evening BEFORE New Year's slathered in gunk so that on New Year's Eve we would look beautiful and refreshed and newly highlighted when we dressed up in pumps and our sparkly dresses and partied the night away. There may even have been a kiss with a random stranger at midnight ... Have a fabulous New Year my friend! :) me

Of course the cheese and caramel corn is the best and it is even better mixed together and eaten hot and fresh from the popper. Your cranberry sparkling mocktail sounds and looks delicious. I did have that year! This year I had put our foot creme, and "frownies" a new mask-thingy, and had serious pampering plans, but hubby adn I watched the ball drop in NY at 9pm California time then went right to bed;) Maybe next year. Oh, although I did make hot spiced cider to drink, which was yummy, and sticky, and sweet. Happy 2013. Jessica

Those are all great ways to spend New Years Eve!!! This year we went to a gala at the Kennedy Center in DC and saw the stage production of White Christmas... I wore a sparkly gown and high heals... loved every minute of it... but somewhere in the back of my mind I was wishing I was at home in my pj's with my feet in a warm sudsy soak (I HATE high heals!) eating somethings salty and drinking a diet coke... and watching the ball drop on TV! New Year's Eve is my least favorite time to go out. I like to snuggle down and bring in the New Year... quietly! Now I'm a Rock Star on 4th of July, though! Happy New Year, KariAnne! Hope 2013 is even better than 2012....that probably means you will win the lottery, be crowned Miss America and win a ton more blogging awards! And I would not be surprised at all! xo
