Have you ever tried to stay up all night on New Year’s Eve?
Did you ever make plans to stay up and put a mud mask on your face and paint your toes and give yourself a manicure with cuticle correcting cream and make your highlights even blonder with lemon juice right after you put an egg deep-conditioning treatment in your hair?
And then watch the ball drop?
And see The Spice Girls sing on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve…..way before Posh ever married David Beckham and got a much cuter hair-cut and her own clothing line?
Did you ever drink diet coke and eat the tub of popcorn with the three divided sections of caramel and cheese and butter popcorn…..until all you had left was the butter section because everyone knows the caramel and cheese are way better flavors?
Did you?
Really?
Me, too.
So just in case you have really exciting plans for an all night popcorn beauty marathon and you need a little refreshment when it turns midnight in Juneau, Alaska…..
…..here’s a great mocktail recipe to toast the new year with.
Cranberry Sparkler Mocktail
inspired by this recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups cranberry juice
1 cup orange juice
1 cup pineapple juice
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 cans of ginger ale
1 whole orange sliced for garnish
Directions:
In a pitcher combine pineapple juice, cranberry juice, orange juice and lemon juice.
Chill.
Just before serving slowly add ginger ale and crushed ice.
Serve with sliced oranges for garnish.
It is so 2013…..not too sweet with a little fizz and a little tart.
Simple.
Easy.
Delicious.
And it’s perfect for toasting the Spice Girls and eating caramel popcorn with freshly highlighted hair and glowing mud-conditioned skin.
I’m just sayin’. 🙂
Happy New Year!
Hey- I love the spice girls!! Happy New Year Mrs.Kentucky!
Happy New Year, Karianne!!
Happy New Year, Karianne. I know just what to do tonight now. :)
Happy New Year! This drink looks yummy and festive :)
Happy New Year, my sweet friend.♥
Awesome Mocktail! My girls will love it! We may just have to hit the storestoo one last time in search of the canned popcorn. Those were the days Kariann! Didn't it seem like that was THE gift to get back then. And the cheese and caramel were of course the best! If you were a Spice Girl you would be Hostess Spice or Crafty Spice or maybe even FarmHouse Diva Spice :-). Have a wonderful New Year's Eve and happy 2013 to you and your family.
Happy New Year!! Karianne it's been a great pleasure to know you !! All the Best in 2013!!! Thanks for the Mocktail recipe!! Now does lemon juice really help the hi-lites??
This recipe sounds so refreshing. Happy New Year, Karianne! I'm so glad I found your blog. It is so much fun here. And, thanks for helping me navigate blogworld. I'm wishing you all the best in 2013.
That mocktail looks so refreshing! Thanks for the laughs every morning at 7:22 am.....my days are much better when they start out with a giggle! Happy New Year my friend!! ;)
It will be a bit sad not toasting the New Year without Dick Clark...but life goes on and we shall watch that gorgeous Waterford Crystal ball drop...Here's to another wonderful year Kari!!...Happy New Year!!
Karianne, I wish you and your family a healthy and very happy New Year! And many thanks for the mocktail recipe. I don't drink alcohol and it's definitely something I will be trying. Sounds totally yummy and refreshing!
YUM! Thanks for the recipe KariAnne! I'm actually planning to watch the ball drop in London which happens at 7:00 EST. I'm such a lightweight that staying up til Midnight isn't likely to happen. Plus this way, my little one can be part of the fun and still get to bed at a reasonable hour :-) I'll have to download some Spice Girls mp3's to round out the night! :-) Happy New Year my friend!!!!
This recipe sounds delish! Just perfect for toasting all the well deserved success you have had this year. Happy New Year, girl! Oh, and can I ask WHERE did you get those beautiful clear stars???????
Ok...if I start when you start, and you end when I end, that will give us both three extra hours of indulgence due to time zone craziness. Kapeesh? Have a wonderful new year and stay safe with all that mud masking.
Looks like a great mocktail, the kids will love it! Hey, I didn't get a tub of popcorn this year! I might have to correct that.....have a wonderful New Year!
I am so not a New Year's Eve party girl....I love to be home and comfy too! Happy New Year to you and your family, and thank you for your blog!
These look yummy. Your photo's are great. Very sparkly. Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year. Sherry
We always mix up a special festive drink for our girls - this looks delish! Have fun watching that blinged out ball drop! Kelly
This sounds great! I don't always stay up until midnight on New Years Eve, but tonight daughter #2 will be getting back from Gatlinburg about then, so we decided to have 2 other couples over who are also waiting for their kids! Might just have to serve Cranberry Sparkler Mocktails! :) Happy New Year sweet friend!
Thank you so much for an idea to celebrate with! I had no idea what to do tonight until I read your post today. I would never have thought of having a "beauty" night, but it sounds perfect! Happy New Year! Linda
Wonder if it would go with my fuzzy red robe and peanut butter M&Ms... and maybe my yearly bath. I might have to sneak some vodka in mine though, cuz, yes... I'm that girl...
CHEERS...wishing you and yours a Blessed New Year filled with joy and happiness! Sending hugs your way!
Sounds yummy and looks gorgeous! Wishing you and your family a New Year filled with many blessings!
Oh Happy New Year Ms. Thistle. Bliss
Happy New Year! This drink sounds absolutely delicious, I may have to give it a try, without the mocktail part ;)
In the North we spent the evening BEFORE New Year's slathered in gunk so that on New Year's Eve we would look beautiful and refreshed and newly highlighted when we dressed up in pumps and our sparkly dresses and partied the night away. There may even have been a kiss with a random stranger at midnight ... Have a fabulous New Year my friend! :) me
Looks great! My girls are attempting to stay up with us tonight so we'll maybe do up a batch of these in case either makes it last 9...doubtful! Happy New Year!!
My kind of drink! I can never stay up to see the new year here on the west coast, so I watch the ball drop in New York at 9:00! Happy New Year, dear friend, XOXO
Happy New Year, Karianne!
Happy New Year, Karianne- That whole evening sounds wonderful to me!!!! xo Diana
Happy New Year Karianne! This sounds absolutely delightful for our family evening at home!
You photos are stunning!!! I would drink whatever you served up...just because it looks so delicious!! :D Wishing you joyous and blessed New Year!
Oh yum, the popcorn sounds delicious too, but I am dieting so none for me! Happy New Year! ~Diane
It looks delicious! I have sparkling wine and microwave popcorn for tonight...haha, not as appetizing as your, but trying to use up what's left over from Christmas. Happy New Year to you and your family.
The cranberry sparkler mocktail looks so good. Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year.
Oh you are so much fun Karianne, I know we would have a ball together on New Year's Eve drinking Cranberry Sparklers and throwing mud concoctions on our faces! Happy New Year Girl!
Sounds and looks yummy! Happy New Year, KariAnne! I pray you and your family have a blessed and joy-filled 2013.
Sounds delicious! I would make some, but it is cold and nasty out, and I am not getting out of my jammies now! But I will save it for another day. I wish you joy, blessings, and all good things, in the New Year, and always. Love and hugs!
I guess I should add that what I meant was, I don't have all the ingredients on hand, and don't want to go to the store!! Anybody who read that first post might think I have already had a few too many not-mock-tails, which is definitely not the case.
Happy, Happy New Year, KariAnne! ( =
Yes, yes, yes, and yes to all of the above! Love the recipe, hope you have a wonderful and blessed new year!
Of course the cheese and caramel corn is the best and it is even better mixed together and eaten hot and fresh from the popper. Your cranberry sparkling mocktail sounds and looks delicious. I can't wait to share it with my boys, I'm so happy I stumbled upon your blog. No matter what kind of day I've had, reading your blog always puts a smile on my face. I hope you have a wonderful and blessed New Year!
Happy New Year!!! May 2013 be just amazing for you and thank you for sharing your sense of humour, kindness and beautiful words on this blog.

I don't even make it to midnight...much less all night..
Happy New Year, Karianne!
Happy new year and happy birthday!
I did have that year! This year I had put our foot creme, and "frownies" a new mask-thingy, and had serious pampering plans, but hubby adn I watched the ball drop in NY at 9pm California time then went right to bed;) Maybe next year. Oh, although I did make hot spiced cider to drink, which was yummy, and sticky, and sweet. Happy 2013. Jessica
Happy New Year! Hope it's off to a wonderful start!
Those are all great ways to spend New Years Eve!!! This year we went to a gala at the Kennedy Center in DC and saw the stage production of White Christmas... I wore a sparkly gown and high heals... loved every minute of it... but somewhere in the back of my mind I was wishing I was at home in my pj's with my feet in a warm sudsy soak (I HATE high heals!) eating somethings salty and drinking a diet coke... and watching the ball drop on TV! New Year's Eve is my least favorite time to go out. I like to snuggle down and bring in the New Year... quietly! Now I'm a Rock Star on 4th of July, though! Happy New Year, KariAnne! Hope 2013 is even better than 2012....that probably means you will win the lottery, be crowned Miss America and win a ton more blogging awards! And I would not be surprised at all! xo
i made this for New Year's Eve and everyone loved it ... including my children who will. not. eat. fruit. I'm mixing up another batch today because everyone is sick and I'm sure all this healthy yummy goodness has magical healing powers .... thank you for sharing!
