Whitney has been waiting to show you her decorating skills.

This is her room.

Her design.

Her colors.

Her planning and hoping and dreaming and putting and placing and fluffing and creating.

Remember when she told me what she wanted and I worked with an online designer and there were two design plans and you all chimed in and told us which plan you loved and which elements you loved? We read every comment. We listened to every one of you who took the time to leave a note.

And in the end?

We actually liked things from both rooms so we combined what we liked and added in a few elements of our own.

And now there is an after to the before.

Want to see what the room looks like now?

I took the same camera angles from each of the before pictures so you could see the change better.

Are you ready?

Several months ago the room looked like this.

And now?

It looks like this.

Here’s the before from this angle.

And now?

It looks like this.

Here’s the before from this angle.

And now?

It looks like this.

CAN YOU EVEN BELIEVE IT?

I am so proud of her.

Truly.

When we first started planning out the room, I was going a different direction.

A little more farmhouse.

But Whitney knew that she knew that she knew.

She wanted a room that was bright and white with pops of yellow and blue.

Here’s what we kept from the original room.

The bed.

The desk.

The dresser.

Here’s what we purchased for the space from the original design.

The chair.

The basket.

The rug.

The side tables.

The bench at the end of the bed.

The tufted chair in the corner (which we both LOVE SO MUCH because it’s so cozy).

I sold much of the rest of the room on Facebook Marketplace (thanks to all of you) and used the money to purchase some new accessories for the room.

I’ve linked all the sources at the end of the post.

It was a process of figuring out which direction we were going to go.

But Whitney knew.

She knew she wanted a little bit of greenery.

She knew she wanted blue and white.

She knew she wanted curtains.

And she knew she wanted this yellow chair.

I’m so proud of her.

Designing a room is challenging and overwhelming and a little intimidating.

But it makes it so easy when you find a yellow chair and fall in love.

And then?

Just decorate the rest with your heart. 🙂

Just beautiful! So serene and calm! I just did a blue and white room for two girls who will be joining my family. (I'm getting married for the first time at age 62. He still has 3 daughters at home!). I can't wait for them to come and help me complete the decorating. Thanks for the inspiration!

Wow!!!!! She is on point in every way. (I'm glad I was able to contribute to the room design fund) LOL If I had to choose to favorites in this space, I would go with that yellow chair and the artwork.

Be proud, Mama, be proud! The room is perfect because it is what Whitney wanted. The best part of this story isn't the re-styling of the room, but the relationship between you and your daughter. Your trust in her decisions and you working together is the story. God bless you and Whitney. I am sure she is enjoying the new look in her room.

Just lovely and crisp and fresh and classy and trendy all wrapped up in one! Tell Whitney her choice of a pop of yellow/gold inspires me as I still have some remnant gold from the red/green/gold days that she has shown me how to "work in" very nicely.. Great job!

Blue, white and yellow- bright and happy! Actually my entire beach home is done in this combo which I truly love. And the best part is that for a seasonal change it is so easy to add a single bright color with a pillow or vase or lamp shade!

Whitney, You definitely inherited your Moms decorating skills! Your room is just beautiful and I really love that you went your own direction. One of the things that I have learned over the years when it comes to designing and decorating is follow your own heart. Forget trends and what everyone else is doing and do what inspires you.
