WOW.
Just WOW.
You really know how to make a room feel special.
Just in case you were wondering if your comments make a difference? They do. And you have REPRESENTED in the comment section this week. When I posted about Zack’s bench and you left all that encouragement, he called me. His exact quote was, “Mom, these comments are getting me hyped up.” And when you left the sweetest comments for my mom? Especially those about my dad? She almost started crying again.
See? See how you can impact someone’s life with just 26 letters and a few random punctuation marks.
Thank you.
THANK YOU.
You are making this world a better place with your kindness.
We need more people.
Just. Like. You.
And now?
All those questions you asked me? All the furniture questions and the rug questions and the wall questions and all the sources? I put them all into one post. Because guess what?
I have a few answers.
Where did you get the throw on the bed?
I got it off Amazon.
It is 50″ x 60″ and it’s SO COZY.
The color shown here is pretty true to the actual color.
Where did you get the bedding?
The bedding was a JOURNEY.
Originally, I was going to order this pom pom bedding from Amazon.
I loved the texture and the price and that it came in a set, but it was out of stock. So I found this plain duvet cover and matching shams (wait until you see the price).
Sizing tip: we ordered it in a king size for the queen size bed to go all the way to the floor and hide the box spring because we didn’t have a bed ruffle.
Then I added this pintucked comforter at the end of the bed to add texture.
Where did you get the pillows?
I shopped my mom’s house for some of the pillows.
I got the shams from Bed Bath & Beyond.
The velvet pillows came from Home Goods (you can get them two to a pack with braided cording).
You can get the damask pillow (it is SO MUCH prettier in real life than in the photos on the site) here.
Where did you get the rug?
Y’all. This rug is the FIND OF THE CENTURY.
It has so many different colors that it goes with almost everything. The colors shown here are pretty true to what it looks like in real life. I don’t have a filter on the pictures.
I got it off Amazon here, but it’s almost sold out now.
It’s called Loloi II Wynter WYN-02 Auburn / Multi Oriental Area Rug 7′-6″ x 9′-6″. It comes in tons of different colors, but the “Auburn” color is AMAZING.
I did a little research and found the rug on Overstock under a different name.
You can see it here (and they have all the sizes in stock).
Where did you get the chandelier?
Again, I ordered it off Amazon.
LOL.
I am all about ordering things now and having them delivered to my house (or my mom’s house).
It’s so pretty and it puts out a good amount of light. It has five bulbs inside the fixture. Make sure to get clear bulbs without a yellow filament because you can see them through the fixture.
It’s 32″ high and 22″ wide with a pretty brushed metal band in the center of the beads.
You can see the fixture here.
What color did you paint the hutch?
Here are all the colors I used in the room.
The wall is Urbane Bronze SW 7048.
The other walls are painted Shoji White SW 7042.
This thrifted hutch that we bought for under $100 is painted with Gateway Gray SW 7644.
If you are shopping in the McKinney area? I cannot recommend Habitat ReStore ENOUGH. We have the BEST ReStore with TONS of furniture and hutches just like this one for super inexpensive prices.
Where did you get the lamps?
These are my go-to lamps from Lamps Plus.
They come in a set of two and are really affordable and go in almost any space.
The shade that comes with them is a white shade, but I switched it out for this bisque shade to add a little more dimension to the room.
And that table? ReStore again. It was such a great find. We painted it Shoji White SW 7042 and changed out the knobs.
How did you build the wall?
I’m actually going to do an entire tutorial on this. We created the wall simply using 1″ x 4″.
It’s such an easy project and the perfect solution for those slanted ceilings so many houses have.
You can make it in a day.
Instructions are on their way next week.
I hope this answered most of the questions.
If you have any that I missed you can ask them below.
Again, I cannot thank you enough for all your encouragement.
It was so special to my mother.
And for that?
My heart is happy. 🙂

How beautiful! It’s cozy and very inviting! I love the chair and ottoman. Can’t see where that can be purchased. Like usual, you hit it out of the park! ❤️
Rebecca, I actually got the chair at a thrift store and had it recovered! happy day! KariAnne
What size is the pintucked comforter? Also, even though I have a bedskirt, queen comforters/duvet covers rarely cover the top edge of the bedskirt! Just a pet peeve of mine....
Teresa, It's a queen--but I have it folded long-ways to reach the floor! happy day! KariAnne
The room is soooo cozy and calming! I would cry too if you did this for me- sweet! Love when you tell sources and thanks for even doing extra research for items.
That room is breathtaking!! I can only image your sweet mom’s delight when she saw it all put together. You are so gifted and you just make the world a brighter place!
The room looks great!!! Thank for the tip about habitat Restore!!!
Way, way, way outta the pahk!! {insert Boston accent here] LOL xoxo
Seeing this room again, I like it even more. It's so relaxing and peaceful. I've always wondered who are "we" when you do a project? When I paint, my old sweats have colors from every room on them.. Somehow, you're too cute to be such a mess. "Hi" to mom. Bless your day.
Beautiful, elegant, cozy! Your mother is very fortunate to have a daughter and family like yours! Hope this brings her joy!
I love your room! Just simple wood pieces painted gives this room a beautiful focal point. The rest of the room is beautiful too. Love the reading chair and ottoman in the corner. Your just passing all that love your mother has given to you over the years back to her. I would cry too and it wouldn’t be pretty more like racking sobs. 🤣🤣
This room just takes my breath away! It is gorgeous. What a transformation! And the bench your son made is incredible. Ya'll did good!
Thanks for the details! Also, I appreciated seeing the overall picture of the room. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want to layer rugs on top of our carpet (I'm pretty sure I'd be kicked out of my house if I suggested hardwood floors, haha) and it's good to see how it looks in your pictures. Wondering if your mom would like a visitor to stay in her room ..... wink wink.
I was so caught up in the bench and your handsome son....I forgot your Mom. So sorry for her loss and yours and all his family as well. It is not easy to lose a loved one. I lost my husband almost 7 years ago. It gets a little better with time but I still cry and will always miss him till I meet him again in Heaven.
I love this story and what you created out of love. You showed your mom how much you loved her. What a gift.
Very cool, thanks for all the tips. It is so fun that Zach read the comments, he deserves all of our compliments. Hope his SO some day appreciates this kind of skills that many will never possess. Very complete and comfortable guest room, maybe your mom will sleep there too. Love the comforter and the pillows and the light fixture and ......... and ......... and the designer.
I love that you use the Habitat for Humanity Store. Isn't it a wonder what people give to them? Ours has gone a little pricey, but they still have bargains. Love what you do sister!!! Could I adopt you any time soon? Lol
Thank you! GREAT info and links - appreciate, KA.
You and your mom are lucky to have each other. You for your creativeness and enthusiasm for everything. Your mom for passing on wisdom and her love for you and your family. I have tried to email to share something I accomplished but it comes back undelivered. Wanted to share two pictures.

You sure know how to pull a room together!!!! And, just like in your dining room, I think the rug just makes the space:) I'm sure this room will be a favorite!!!!!!!
It's so beautiful KariAnne! I have a ceiling like that in my bedroom and I'd love to make some panelling like yours. I'm looking foward to reading the tutorial. I hope your weekend is absolutely fabulous, just like you!
Your son did a fantastic job on the bench a d the gift you gave you Mom with her room was so loving and sweet.
Where did you get the big basket on the floor? Your bedroom is beautiful!
So beautiful and peaceful. Love the wall effect just as I did from How Does She 10/08/2018. My second comment cuz it looks like you didn't post or took down my original.
