Dear March Madness Organization,
Can we talk?
Just for a moment. It won’t take long, I promise. I know you are busy and all, what with big game tonight.
See that television in the corner?
That’s where we have been watching the tournament for the last month.
On these couches.
In this living room.
And I just want to say thank you.
I couldn’t let the tournament come to a close without saying thank you for allowing McDonald’s to sponsor the March Madness Games.
And not just as a once-in-a-while sponsor,
with an occasional commercial, where you might only see it now and then.
No.
I wanted to say thank for allowing McDonald’s to sponsor every segment of every game on every channel each and every night.
And play that incredibly witty and overwhelmingly enticing Shamrock Shake commercial.
You know.
You know which commercial I’m talking about.
The commercial where the girl walks up and she stares at her boyfriend or husband or significant other. And then she sniffs him and tells him that he smells like mint and then she tells him that she doesn’t like him and then he brings out a shake and she says she loves him.
Kind of like a mini-romantic comedy.
Brought to you by McDonald’s.
And that Shamrock Shake.
*sigh*
I might have seen the commercial a few times.
Right here on these couches.
Watching this television.
Staring at that coffee table and all of its freshy decorations.
Wondering how fast I could get to McDonald’s for a Shamrock Shake.
So March Madness folks.
I’m glad it’s April.
And McDonald’s has quit selling the Shamrock Shake.
And I have a treadmill.
However, I did see yesterday that they have a new Strawberry Shake coming out.
Really.
It never ends.
I truly hope they aren’t sponsoring the world series 🙂
No it doesn't end damn McDonald's and their yummy shakes.............lol
HHahaha. WELL I know I own a television, and I think we turned it on around Christmas when my niece was visiting to watch a special.......other than that? Well i sure wish I knew what freshy commercial of which you are referring. Yum. Just so you don't think I am a completely clueless freak I did know about the Final 4 because I live in OSU Buckeye Country (one of the 4) and my sistr grduated from UK (winners.) So, at least I DID know about that. And I knew about the shakes - see I AM normal!! - because I have this amazing cravings for McD's breakfast food. Usually around 11 when they don't serve it anymore. Sure wish they served it all day - I wouldn't eat another Filet O Fish again. Treadmill? Hmm.......now what are THOSE....................
Oh, yeah. I wrote a blog about it too. *shakes fist at McDonalds.*
Oh dear, according to Michele, I'm not normal. I haven't seen one game but I think I knew it was going on. This means, I didn't know about the shakes, which is a very good thing. I don't like strawberry shakes and that's a good thing too. I am suddenly craving a chocolate malt or a rootbeer. This is bad because it's only 3:23 a.m. here. I'm having a little trouble sleeping and now you've filled me with cravings :)
Hmmmmmm ask my husband.... the only sport I've enjoyed this past month is poking fun at the bright green shakes! However I do love your living room! Freshy and all.....! I see the mantel is no longer sporting it's yellow decor! :-) dee dee
LOLOL ... love it! Thanks for the Monday morning laugh !! You're lucky it was McDonald's and green shakes !! At our house ... in the man cave ... the basketball games were sponsored by sausage dips, 7 layer dips, caloric-infested snack mixes, Mich Ultra and loud men releasing *interesting* words out of the mouths at time!! Is it over yet?! (And, by the way, I can honestly say that when I saw your gorgeous living room before, I *never* even noticed the TV ... I was too busy looking at your beautiful furniture and accents!)
Fortunately, I am not a lover of milkshakes, but that commercial will be in my memory for quite a while. Though hopefully not as long as "My bologna has a first name. It's O.S.C.A.R. My bologna has .... That is still in my head from my childhood. Surely, going inside my head would be a scary adventure. Go Wildcats!
Oh, the maddening shakes..maddening because they taste so incredibly good, or maddening because we are mad that we cannot resist them...What is that song?..Shake, shake, shake...shake, shake, shake your boo-tay....well that's where the shakes are going....right there!!...at least mine... I am going to be in front of the TV with a "shake-less" drink, rooting for the Wildcats, waving my arms, shouting the sounds like Julia Roberts, "woop-woop-woop" or something like that...because I have a monetary stake in this game...Go Wildcats, cuz I can buy a "freshy pillow" if you win!... I love seeing the details of your gorgeous room...my fav?..that sign!!....and don't tell me you got it at a garage sale for a dollar! Go Wildcats!!!
You need to walk away, Karianne! : ) I get up and walk away when commercials come on for anything I'm watching! Of course, more times than not it's to go get a snack {like a chocolate pudding} from the refrigerator, but hey - I'm up and moving around!
I live under a rock, I am in a world of DVR'd television, and a hubby who (thank you lord) does not really care about sports. Except for Yankees Baseball. Did I get the only one of his kind or what? I have not seen this commercial you speak of! I was under the spell of the fabulous photos of your home during this whole post, but I think I picked up on the fact that you may have seen a few McDonald's commercials, and while I'm sure that the Shamrock Shake commercial in particular is award worthy, I too think it may be time for you to walk away! ;-) Hehe But seriously, I am drooling over every. single. picture. in this post! xo-Lisa
Praise and thanks for my DVR. I am so lucky to have missed those commercials, my hips are thankful too! Love your room and the pics are glorious!
Huh! I see I'm not alone! I went off my strict eating plan that got me off two medications for a Shamrock Shake. OK, I did it three times. My excuse? It's only available once a year. Excuse #2: It's my birthday. Third time, I got the whole family involved! Hooo, boy!
I haven't seen the commercials, but I'm always happy to see your family room, it's so pretty and you have some great things going on there. Hugs, Cindy
Your living room is beautiful! Also, as you know, there is now another "green shake" option out there......ok, it's made with spinach but if you just close your eyes and believe...... Have a great Monday and thanks for the laugh. David
And strawberry cream pies. But I shall resist. Yes. I shall.
Let's just talk about that wooden door. Can we? And those baskets lining the back of the sofa, like the ones in your beautiful bath!! Can we focus on those, please? OR the swirly rug below that makes me happy inside and out? Dancing feet Happy! And the way the room is NOT aligned with that pesky television set. (I enjoy insulting television screens by calling them "sets". =>) And what about the fact that I COULD NOT, (well, not right away) FIND your television screen when you mentioned it above. Seriously, your living room is a live version of Hidden Pictures in a Highlights Magazine!!! Also, I had a hard time trying to find your husband in there too!!! Where does he sit? xo ~K ps - Shamrock Shakes are not Irish, nor do the manufacturers of them use real mint. The green is dye and the entire contents are made from powder. Talcum. And I believe that the Strawberry shakes next in line.....hold on.....pink slime.
At first, I thought you didn't like those commercials. But now, I see they were just too much of a temptation for you. Ha! Lucky me, I don't watch March Madness. So, I never had to be tempted by those commercials. I'm not into sports. I AM, however, into milkshakes though. So, I'm with you on those. What a cute post and a pretty family room to watch tv in.
bwahahaha! freshy. it gets me EVERY.TIME. happy monday, sweetie!
McDonald's they find a way, shakes, fries whatever it takes! Have a great week! Debbie
Karianne, you are too funny! Years ago I made a promise to myself to not drink my calories but milkshakes are not really a drink, are they??? I think I am allowed to have one of those every so often. Please tell me it isn't a drink! Ha Love the way you decorated your bookshelves and love the wire baskets behind your sofa! Have a great day!
I think I would rather watch the World Series and have the Strawberry shake. I might be in trouble huh? Pinning your chair top art dear..... love it. ~Bliss~
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD LUCK tonight my friend!!! we will be routing for you! opening day for us starts friday for the YANKEES...so our sporting life starts up once again!!! hope tonight is picture perfect for you and your family! (((HUGS)))
I guess I live under a rock. haven't seen the shake commercial, or any of march madness. BUT! I really love the room in which you have been seeing it all. Love the freshy decorations!
Am I the only one repulsed by the idea of a green shake? Now green beer. That's a whole different story. And you have some serious freshy going on in that room! I see the Poms have made their way back onto your husband's chair. I'm also in love with the chandelier ... it's exactly what I want for my dining room ... I'm now compelled to pin! :) Linda
At least it takes you 1/2 hour to get to the nearest Mickey D's! That gives you enough time to stop that craving and come to your senses! Glad the hubs enjoys watching his manly b-ball game surrounded by all your freshy decorating - I love a guy who's in touch with his feminine side! Kelly
It actually takes 26 minutes.....but who's counting :) Can't wait until this afternoon! thistlewood farm the journey of making a house into a home blog facebook twitter pinterest ________________________________
Hmm, I've never had one. Oh well. We've watched plenty of basketball too but I am most excited about Opening day of baseball season this week!! Go Reds! =D I love your bookshelves and window seat, by the way!! :)
I'm glad it's April too. I am in Kansas, and not a basketball fan, and as you can imagine, everyone around here has lost their MINDS. And I didn't have even one shamrock shake this March. :(
I'm so ready for UK to bring the National Championship trophy back to the SEC!
If Kentucky wins I win the friendly little family bracket contest we started in FL. Go Wildcats!!! And I'm loving the freshy decorating in there...and am with Linda, not at all enticed by the green shake idea, but since she brought it up, am now craving a green beer. :)
I missed out on the shamrock shakes so I guess I'll have to make up for it with the new strawberry ones :)
Freshy or not, it looks so comfy and inviting.... Luckily we do not March any madness around here! Yay! I just pinned your awesome sign... hope you don't mind!
No shakes for me, thank you. But I would love to have that window seat. Your room is beautiful!
Your living room is so stunning. McD's always has a way to lure me in. The mcflurry or wait, the chocolate dipped cone gets me every time.
I just have to say Rock Chalk Jayhawks! (all in good fun)
Thank you for sharing your beautiful blog! I love it! Hillary
