Last night we had a s’mores party.

I didn’t even know it was a thing until Whitney suggested it. All the chicks are home and we are trying to be purposeful and mindful and squeeze all the holiday out of every minute.

We planned out the menu and shopped for everything and put an entire s’mores bar together and invited all the extended family over for marshmallows and stories in the backyard.

It was so easy.

Truly.

If you are looking for a simple and creative idea for all the holiday family get-togethers?

A s’mores party is your ticket to fun.

Here’s what we shopped for and how we put it all together and 8 simple and creative combinations we came up with for think-outside-the-box s’mores.

We hosted the party in the new outdoor pergola in the backyard.

The inside has couches and chairs and benches (enough seating for 14) and the star of the show is this amazing fire pit from Better Homes & Gardens at Walmart.

It’s constructed with a durable wicker base and an aluminum top and has a heat-resistant bronze finish.

My favorite part?

The pit includes a burner cover to allow it to be used as an outdoor coffee table and comes with an all-weather fabric cover to keep the fire pit protected when not in use.

Here’s a close-up of the fire pit so you can see the finish. It’s really good-sized and measures 37″ wide and 24.41″ tall.

To use it, we simply turn on the propane unit inside the base and turn it off when we aren’t using it. It’s so much easier than a traditional fire pit.

Here’s what the fire pit looks like when we aren’t using it. It turns into an outdoor table that fits in with the rest of the seating in the space.

Here’s a close-up of the s’mores bar.

I set up all the different types of marshmallows and combinations on this tiered tray.

Then I put stacks and stacks of graham crackers in this cute holiday baker and the marshmallows in this beautiful holiday bowl.

This is the list of everything we put together:

  • Nutella
  • Almond butter
  • Peppermint patties
  • Sprinkles
  • Chocolate bars
  • Cookies and cream bars
  • Popcorn marshmallows
  • Cinnamon swirl marshmallows
  • S’mores marshmallows
  • Stuffed chocolate marshmallows
  • Graham crackers
  • Rice Crispy treats (as a graham cracker alternative)

And here are 8 creative s’mores combinations

Full credit goes to Whitney for coming up with most of these. It was so much fun to challenge ourselves and put it all together.

(total aside: we wanted to add different types of graham crackers, too, but that’s for the next s’mores party)

1. classic s’mores

This is the basic s’more. Graham crackers and chocolate and marshmallow. They sell the best s’mores marshmallows now that are thicker and wider than your standard marshmallow.

2. Peppermint and chocolate s’more

This is the same basic concept as a traditional s’more except you swap out the chocolate for peppermint patty.

3. Caramel popcorn nut s’mores

These are the popcorn marshmallows.

You melt them on a graham cracker and drizzel caramel sauce on top.

You can add nuts to the melted marshmallow, too.

4. Cookies and cream s’mores

Another version of the basic s’more.

We found these cookies and cream candy bars and added them with marshmallows and graham crackers.

5. Rice Crispy treat s’mores

Instead of graham crackers?

Add melted marshmallows to rice crispy treat.

Sprinkle chocolate chips or add chocolate bars to the melted chocolate.

6. Stuffed chocolate s’mores

These marshmallows are next level.

They are chocolate and stuffed in the center.

Just add sprinkles.

7. Peanut butter and chocolate s’mores

You could just add a reese’s peanut butter cup for this s’more.

We added almond butter (or peanut butter would be great, too).

Then marshmallows and chocolate.

8. Cinnamon and nutella s’mores

These s’mores start with a base of nutella.

Then add these cinnamon marshmallows, melt them and sprinkle with cinnamon.

So was it fun?

Was our s’mores party successful?

Take a look at those faces that I adore.

It was good to the last bite.

What a FUN idea. I see you included peanut butter with a chocolate bar, but really, there is nothing better then melting Reeses peanut butter cups on the graham cracker with a marshmallow. It's the best! We've had pot luck bonfires where we've asked everyone to bring their favorite smores combos, or some they'd like to try. We've had some VERY unusual, but delicious treats!

Your pergola area is a lovely new area to be outside to enjoy those precious peeps in your dear family! You are such a breath of fresh air, KariAnne, and I wish the best Thanksgiving to you and yours--as amazing as YOU ARE! I'm about to head to the kitchen to make several pie crusts, of which you were kind enough to email me on Saturday, you sweet woman! Have a wonderful, heartfelt day with your babies!

Just looked up a book on Amazon and what do I see-YOU there LIVE on the page doing gift reviews. Did not expect that! Good job!!

That's a fun idea but I may have to remember it when our weather in Michigan is more predictable, hahaha. I can't remember if it was your idea or something you linked us to awhile back, but I had a popcorn bar event for my teen daughter and her friends and it was a brilliant idea. There's something about these add-your-own parties that is guaranteed to be a hit. I especially like how darn easy they are to throw together.

Believe it or not, I had (classic) s'mores for dinner last night. I'm going for the peppermint patties next time. Such a fun idea! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. XOXO

Roasted marshmallows are so good no matter how you eat them!!:) we started using ritz crackers instead of graham and like them so much!! Adds a little salty to the sweet.

We do this at our lake place and use cans of frosting (in place of candy bars)...milk chocolate, white chocolate, cream cheese, and our latest...birthday cake frosting!!

You must try PB Cup Reese's instead of Hershey bars next s'more event. Our son introduced us to them. OH SOOOO GOOD!
