Looking for simple cozy decor tips for your home but you don’t have a lot of time? Here are 5 tips you can add in 5 minutes.
I spent the weekend watching football.
And being cold.
I’m layering up with tights and jeans and wearing the cutest slippers and drinking hot chocolate and snuggling under blankets to try and stay warm.
It’s that time of year when cozy reigns supreme.
But what if you want cozy, but you don’t have time?
I got you.
I have 5 ideas to instantly add cozy to your home (and I filmed a video at the end of the post with all the tips, too) here.
5 Cozy Decor Tips You Can Add in 5 Minutes
1. Add a throw to a basket
Pull out all the throws you have.
Decorate with them.
Here are 11 ways to decorate with throws.
This is my best tip for adding a throw to a basket. So many people fold it and try and drape it over the side of the basket. It never works. The throw always look a little glumpy. Here’s the solution. Take the blanket and grab it in the very center and twist it slightly then drape the ends together over the side of the basket.
It looks like a magazine basket now.
If this seems a little confusing, you can see exactly how I did it in my cozy decorating video here.
2. Add battery operated candles
This tip should have been first.
It’s the easiest, simplest way to add cozy to a room.
I have these candles all over my house. They are on mantels. They are in my faux fireplace. They are on my hutch.
The candles operate off of double AA batteries and they are on a timer. The timer is the key. I set the timer to go off when the sun sets and when I walk into a room there’s instant coziness.
The flames flicker and look so real and I never have to worry about lighting them.
3. Adding pinecones to anything
Not to belabor the entire pinecone thing, but I can’t get enough of them this year. I’ve added them everywhere and they just make the house feel so wintery. It’s one of the easiest cozy decor ideas.
I’m actually bleaching an entire batch tomorrow to add to a dough bowl.
You can see how I add them to a winter display in the video and I started with this truck.
4. Fill a dough bowl with winter
This simple cozy decor idea starts with a dough bowl.
Just fill up the bowl with winter. Wondering what winter looks like?
Here are a few winter dough bowl suggestions:
- jingle bells
- wood pieces
- architectural pieces
- pom poms
5. Make these DIY wood slice branches
I shared this craft last week and so many of you made it and sent me pictures.
Just in case you were wondering, I LOVE IT when you send me pictures of your decor.
This project is so easy and I actually went back and added another pack of wood slices to these branches (I showed it on Instagram stories) and it looks even better now.
It’s such an easy project you can finish in a little more than five minutes.
Here’s the video with all the tips. Let me know if you have any questions and here are a few of the cozy home decor finds from the video:
- Dough bowl
- Large jingle bells
- Battery operated candles
- Truck (similar)
- Glass vase (similar)
- Wood branches
- Wood slices
I hope these cozy decor tips warm you up and make your home feel extra warm and welcoming this winter. How is the weather where you are?
Is it cold?
I hope you are sitting on a beach with your toes in the sand.
If you are can you send me a postcard?
It might make me feel warmer. 🙂
