My UPS man is one of my best friends.
When you live in the middle of the country without stop lights and drive-through anything and gas station pizza is considered a delicacy….
….the luxury of having something delivered directly to your door is so lovely.
I’m used to checking sizes and measurements and placing painter’s tape on the floor to make sure the piece will fit in my home and ordering fabric samples to make sure the color is right.
When you live in the country it’s kind of a thing.

That’s why I’m so happy I discovered Interior Define, a company that specializes in custom made-to-order furniture on their website.
I’m an expert in custom furniture (remember the yellow couch with red flowers) and it can be super expensive when you go custom. Interior Define? Not so much. The prices are about 30-40% less than other custom furniture sites. You can customize the size, fabric and legs on almost every design they have. Most pieces are available in 40-60 fabric options and the swatches are complimentary. You can order them here.

And the best part?
The fabrics are so pretty.
I thought it might be fun if we designed a room around a few of them.
Like this mod velvet option in the color “elephant.”
I’m thinking a structured sofa like one of these with a seagrass rug and an antique coffee table that came over on the Mayflower and a chandelier with a drum shade and stacks and stacks and stacks of books.
And a pillow with a bird pattern on it.
Or maybe stripes.
I’d let the couch tell me.
Or this woven cloth fabric in the color Ivory.
I’m thinking a set of chairs like one of these in front of a vintage fireplace with the cutest original tiles and two library bookcases behind them.
I’d add gray linen pillows and a gray and white hand hooked rug with a faded pattern on it.
I’d make sure there was lots of dark wood to set off the light chairs.
Or oiled and waxed leather (it feels wonderful).
It might look perfect on a sofa with vintage looking legs like one of these here.
This makes me want to decorate with color.
I’d have a study with a vintage desk and an old swivel chair and a faded tapestry rug with shades of red and light gray walls.
And a pewter table lamp.
And now are you ready?
