Thistlekeeping on a Monday

Thistlekeeping on a Monday

Random thoughts on a Monday morning:

1. The Oscars.  Oh nooooooooooo.  I felt so sorry for Warren Beatty.

2.  Thistlekeeping missed Saturday because I spent the weekend in Kansas.  You haven’t lived until you’ve driven through cornfields with the sun shining.

3.  I just found the coolest attachment for the top of a tripod.  It takes pictures from every angle you can imagine.  I think I’m ordering one this week.

4.  I cannot thank you enough for all the amazing recommendations for shows from last week.  If you are looking for a show with a British accent, check out all the recommendations in the comments here.

5.  Am I the only one all about Fixer Upper this season?  Just when I think they’ve thought of everything….

…I see an office like this one.

Mondays after a good weekend make me happy just to be alive. 🙂

My linen closet is smiling now.

The day a kitchen went from before to after.

And brought along some amazing bar stools for the ride.

  1. Welcome home! Where in Kansas?

  2. What a great set of links! I saw wild asparagus for sale this weekend. That means it’s officially spring.

  3. Miz karianne, I live in Kansas….where were you?

  4. it wasn’t Beatty’s fault, some Admin’s in big trouble I think 🙂 I was paging through This Old House magazines for a client’s inspiration and I saw your office (with the beehive designed wall) on an ad for frog paint. Sure enough, fine print said Thistlewood. Fun!

  5. Happy Monday friend,
    and welcome home!! : )

  6. Welcome home! Any place in the country with sun shining is a happy place. Have a wonderful week.

  7. I love MMD!!! My Saturday just wasn’t the same without Thistlekeeping. 🙂

  8. Oh Fixer Upper! It always amazes me what they do to transform a house. Love that office but the reading nook? I want one!
Been enjoying Victoria- so sad the season is almost over. Waiting for The Crown. Love British shows!
I hate folding fitted sheets. Going to try to do it this way and see if I can make it look as good.
Thanks for putting Thistlekeeping out. I missed it Saturday. 🙂

  9. Thank you so much for sharing my European Farmhouse Home Tour!! Such an honor to be featured on your blog. I am a big fan! Hope you have a wonderful week!

  10. I really missed Thistlekeeping this weekend and am delighted to find it on this Monday morning!! Everyone needs a weekend off, hope yours was fun and relaxing. Saggy cushions are an hourly occurrence at my house, my two Persians are always on top of them. Roasted vegetables are the best. We love roasted sweet potatoes, carrots and any other potato too. Cauliflower is my favorite, try it with Trader Joe’s Toasted Sesame Oil – fantastic. Now, excuse me please – I must continue perusing Thistlekeeping on this Monday morning. THANK-YOU!!!

  11. What did Warren Beatty do?

  12. You are NOT the only one who is all about Fixer Upper! I received “The Magnolia Story” as a Christmas gift, and read it in a hot minute! lol! It made me watch the show differently, loving it that much more!!

Oh, and I so did the couch cushion thing! It worked better on one side than the other, but I think I was just tired from doing the first one. Next time I’ll start on the left instead of the right . . . LOL!!!

PS – My book goes on pre-order NEXT MONDAY!!!!!!! I can’t believe it!!

  13. I love the wooden chairs with the cane seating in your photos – where did you find them? I am trying to find two more chairs to complete my dining room and those would work perfectly. Love your blog!

  14. Teresa Gonzales :

Yes the finale for the Oscars was very confusing for everyone! I felt for Warren Beatty too. Thanks for all the links and info. Glad you enjoyed Kansas!

  15. I ran away from home once. Or you might say I was given the opportunity to run away from home. I was 42. But still… I had been non-stop caring for an aging parent and grandparent and my teenagers were a teensy bit out of control. I was overwhelmed. So my sweet hubby hired help and sent me out in my little pink car for a three-week road trip. I visited family and friends from New Mexico to Colorado, then on to Chicago and Pennsylvania and, finally, back home through the Southern States. It’s a good thing I love to drive. It was relaxing, refreshing, heart-warming and enlightening. One of my favorite parts of the drive was through what seemed miles and miles of sunflowers in Kansas. Beautiful! Welcome home, Karianne, and Happy Monday!

  16. If you need a British accent fix, watch Victoria on PBS or the first season of The Crown on Netflix. Both are terrific.

  17. Thanks, KariAnne… Always appreciate your posts. And, yes, I’m all about Fixer Upper this season, and every other season, as well! 😉

  18. It wasn’t Warren Beatty who announced it. It was Faye Dunaway. He opened it and new something was wrong, so he paused to show it to her and instead, she blurted it out. He seems to be the one catching it on social media since he was the one to open the envelope. Poor guy!

  19. Karianne, I, too, am enjoying roast vegetables of all kinds. If you have not tried roasted cabbage yet, I recommend it.

Love Modern Mrs. Darcy as I am always looking for reading inspiration. I am trying her 2017 reading challenge.

  20. Fixer Upper??? There are not enough words !!! Just can’t get over the inspiration there !!!! A houseboat?? Really?? And ohhhhh that bakery !!! Yummmmm……. and gorgeous !! Can’t wait for the next episode of Victoria !!! What a love story …. 🙂 (btw… roasted cabbage … YUMMMM )

  21. KariAnne oh my goodness thank you again, I can’t tell you what an honor it is to be included here! I truly appreciate it, you are such an inspiration to me -xo.
p.s. – I am always looking for a good show so I will be trying out Larkrise to Candleford!

  22. On the folded sheed information. After a set is folded, I tuck the entire stack into a pillowcase and it fits more neatly into my linen closet.

  23. Welcome home, Karianne! Thanks so much for the shout-out. Hope you’re having a great weekend! 🙂
