Tomorrow I’ll be at Chapel Market.

If you are coming, I can’t wait to meet you.

If you live in a land far far away, please know that you will be missed.

I know this year will even better than last year.

And so much easier.

Because this year I’m bringing an assistant who is faster than a speeding bullet and more powerful than a locomotive and who can leap tall buildings with a single bound….

….my oldest son Denton.

To celebrate him, here’s one of my favorite stories ever about the day that Superman came to Chapel Market.

Hello Alabama.

You know I adore you.

I’m coming for a visit this weekend and I’m bringing my red lipstick and my best earrings and some of the cutest stuff you’ve ever seen for the annual Market on Chapel Hill at Pike Road just around the corner from Montgomery.

If you are planning on going, I’ll be in the main building at the back with my sweet friend Lucy from Lucy’s Inspired who makes this awesome, one-of-a-kind jewelry.  This year I’m partnering with Painted Fox to bring my collection to life.

Want a sneek peek of what I’m taking with me?

I’ve put together a few pictures and some ideas of how to use them in your house.

Ready.

Set.

Go.Continue reading

Through the years you might have seen several editions of the present exchange.

There was the picture made out of words from my blog.

And the bowl carved out of the tree that fell in the yard.

And the book of love letters from Box 54.

And so many more.

DIY Faux Galvanized Tray (For under $5.00)

My friend Laura wrote a book.

It’s called DIY Rustic Modern Metal Crafts.

There are 187 pages full of ideas and projects and metal creations and to say it is inspiring and exhilarating and creative is like saying the sky is blue.

All day long and twice on Sundays.

This, however, is not a project from her book.

It’s a project I made up from the book I may or may not write one day called, “How to Buy Things for Under $5.00 and Make Them Look Like They Belong On Fifth Avenue in New York City.”

I think it just might be a best seller.

If I were a wooden tray…..this is what I would want to be when I grew up.

Nothing too fancy for me.

No walk on the wild side.

No partying with the hors d’oeuvres and the fruit tray.Continue reading
