Five Last-Minute Valentine Gift Ideas

Five Last-Minute Valentine Gift Ideas

I don’t have the DIY to show you today.

I fully intended to with every single fiber of my being and the bobby pin I’m using to help grow out my bangs.

I was going to edit the photos and write out the instructions and astound and amaze you with my incredible insight into the world of do-it-yourself.

And then?

The superbowl kind of happened.

I wasn’t even going to watch it.  It was supposed to be background noise with the occasional running into the room to watch the commercials.  I don’t even have a team I’m rooting for.  I’m a Cowboys fan and we didn’t make it past the play-offs.

And besides.

I thought it was over.  I thought the Falcons had won.  Winning like hand over the ring and cue the gatorade.  Then just as I sat down to work on the post, my family called me in.  Watch this, they said.  You’re never going to believe this, they told me.

The rest is history.

If you are a Falcon’s fan, I’m sorry.  Truly.  Your team played with such heart.  If you are a Patriots’ fan, you need to send Julian Edelman a thank you note. 🙂

And for everyone else….

….here are some easy last-minute Valentine gift ideas to start the week off right.Continue reading

When I think of my wedding day there are so many amazing memories…..

….but one is my favorite.

I remember sitting on the floor of the kitchen in hot rollers and red lipstick and a monogrammed train….refusing to budge…..

….because I had just read Dear Abbey.

I remember the smell of Christmas trees and the flicker of the candlelight and the smile on my mother’s face and the receiving line and the topiary fruit trees that the caterer made because I had seen them in a movie.

I remember the sailor dress I wore when we left the reception and the car we drove away in decorated courtesy of my brothers…..covered with cans and streamers and shoe polished windows and a sign tied to the back.

All that was amazing.

But that wasn’t my favorite part.

Not even close.Continue reading

How’s the weather where you are?

In Kentucky we are preparing for the ice storm of 2013.

I just got the phone call that they have cancelled school and I currently have four pairs of eyes asking me what we are doing tomorrow.

The questions are swirling like…..“Can we make a fort that covers the whole upstairs?”

and……“Can we make snow ice cream?”

…..and the ever popular…..”Can we plan a play and a dance and make hula skirts?”Continue reading

A Stamp To Remember

A Stamp To Remember

There are days when I feel like I spend my life with my foot in my mouth.

Not intentionally.

Not on purpose.

It just seems like “embarrassment” follows me around.  Like an old familiar friend.

And although “embarrassment” and I have seen our share of good times, I thought we were well on our way to breaking up.  Over.  Done.  Finissimo.  I was moving on to a new relationship with “model citizen.”  Together we were going to be unstoppable….with my foot out of my mouth planted securely on the floor.Continue reading
