Ice Box Cake In a Jar

When I was younger my granny used to make this dessert called Icebox Cake.

It was my favorite.

Like stand in the kitchen and watch and sigh and giggle and try to stick my fingers in the whipped cream and wipe the bowl clean kind of favorite.

Lately, I’ve been trying to start a few traditions around here and I thought it would be the perfect first day of after school snack.  I would make it and have it chilled and ready and covered with whipped cream and tiny chocolate chips. And when everyone got off the bus I would greet them at the door and they’d snack and I’d hear all the middle school gossip.

And in my new tradition day dream I would be having the perfect hair day….

If you put on work out pants and a work out top and your brand new zig tennis shoes that color coordinate with the side table project from yesterday…..then finish it off with a pony tail and drive to Wal-Mart….

….does that count?

Is it almost like working out?


I mean….you’re half way there.

Isn’t it close enough?

I’m parking my car in the back lot….speed walking to the front of the store….power pushing a cart…

No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars and a Linky Party!



If you made these no-bake peanut butter bars and brought them to the potluck…..

…..and I was there….and I ate one.

We would instantly become BFF”s.


I would sit right next to you with my peanut butter bar dessert plate and talk for hours.

I’d ask you for the recipe and point out my slice and bake cookies on the dessert table still covered with red Saran Wrap left over from Christmas and we would talk about how hot it has been here and how everything should be no-bake when it’s almost 100 degrees outside and how I have this very odd sunburn on one arm in the shape of a space ship where I forgot the sunscreen at the pool yesterday.Continue reading
