The Last Chapter

The Last Chapter

I’m editing the last chapter of the book right now.

It’s so close to being done.

Shhhh….don’t tell the publisher, but it was so much easier to write than I ever imagined.

When I started I was a little scared.  A book?  Seriously?  What was I thinking?

And then?

I just sat down at the computer and wrote and wrote and wrote and then I drank some coffee…

…and wrote some more.

Just between us, it really wrote itself. It’s like the story was right there at the tip of my fingers just waiting to come out.

When I was researching stories for the book, I found this one.  It made me laugh and cheer and tear up a little, especially because my tiny basketball player just had emergency eye surgery and had to cut her season short.

This story is written for everyone who has ever faced a challenge.  Everyone who stares a mountain in the face and takes that first step.  Everyone who falls down, dusts themselves off and tries again.

You got this.

We are cheering you on.Continue reading

This Monday on the Today show they published a segment on the happiest people in America.

I’m not really sure how they determined they were the happiest people or where they found them or what even made them happy.

I missed that part because I was brushing my teeth.

But at the end of the segment, I heard something that gave me pause.  Maria Shriver was talking to Hoda and Matt and she told them that all the happiest people in America had one thing in common.

I put down my toothbrush to listen.

This had to be good.Continue reading

Sharing a Little Joy

Sharing a Little Joy

barn-in-snow

Yesterday….in the middle of happy and bright and harking herald angels and the hallelujah chorus and the parties and the celebrations and decking the halls….

….something stopped me mid-merry...and gave me pause.

It served as a vivid reminder…..that sometimes….amidst all the laughter and the rosy cheeks and the wonder that surrounds us this time of year….

….so many hearts are grieving.

And full of sadness.

And aching.

And hurting.

And sometimes….even the simplest of reminders….like a song or a smell or even the Christmas aisle at Target….

….can almost overwhelm a tired and weary world.Continue reading

An Amazing Hair Day

An Amazing Hair Day

Soap

The other day I put a bobby pin in my hair.

Right at the top….holding back my bangs.

I’m not really sure why I put it there….I’m not really the bobby pin type.  I’m more of a hot roller girl….one who never met a can of aqua net hairspray that wasn’t welcomed with open arms.

But I just saw Jennifer Aniston in a magazine with a bobby pin.

And she looked amazing.

Her bobby pin said “I’m cool and hip and fun and ready to fly to the south of France at a moment’s notice.”

All things I aspire to daily.Continue reading
