DIY Rock Heart Necklace

DIY Rock Heart Necklace

It took me longer to think up a title for this post than to make this diy rock heart necklace.

I wanted a funny title.

Or a clever title.  Something that would make you smile or laugh or chortle this almost Valentine’s Day weekend.

Like My Heart Belongs to You.

Or Be Still My Heart.

Or I Heart You.

See what I mean?  I got a million of them.  They just roll off my fingers.  But in the end, I went with the tried and the true, otherwise known as the name of the project.

Just know.  No matter what I call it…

….it really is a Rock Star. 🙂Continue reading

My Rock Heart Belongs To You

My Rock Heart Belongs To You

On Friday, my friend brought over a bucket of heart rocks.

Just nature’s way of saying I love you.

I washed them and cleaned them and sang to them and thought up clever heart sayings and made the coolest, easiest Valentine’s Day present from them that I’ll share with you on Thursday.

Maybe it was the hidden I love you in every stone.

Maybe it was the entire rock heart collection.

Maybe it was February knocking at my door.

But it reminded me of a story.

One I’ve shared before, but I wanted to share it again…

….with a little twist from the heart.Continue reading

Thistlekeeping

Thistlekeeping

I just realized I have been super lame.

I let two weeks go by without a word about Victoria.

You know….the tiny queen of England.

If you haven’t seen Victoria yet, it’s a show that comes on every Sunday night on PBS at 8:00 CST.

And it’s amazing.

Here’s just a few observations I’ll make while trying not to give away any spoilers:

1.  I had no idea Queen Victoria was so pretty.  The only picture I’ve ever seen of her was when she was older with a random lace cap on her head.

2.  Not sure about her hairstyle with the braids around her ears.  It did look good with a tiara.

3.  I think Lord M is kind of hot in a “I’ll help you run the country” kind of way.

4.  I really love the show and I heart the queen….

…but just between us my heart belongs to Dash. 🙂Continue reading

Easy Valentine Heart Project

Easy Valentine Heart Project

easy Valentines heart project

Tomorrow I’m heading to Nashville to appear on a local talk show called Talk of the Town on Channel 5.

A while back they called me and asked me if I had any fun Valentine’s day projects I could share and I told them I was born thinking up Valentine’s day projects how about this easy valentine heart project and I just needed to make sure my hair was curly and put on the most amazing pair of earrings and red lipstick and I would be there.

And besides.

Meryll Rose, one of the hosts of the show is literally one of my favorite persons on the planet.

She sparkles when she talks.

So tune into tomorrow at 11:00 if you live in the greater Nashville area and in case you live in the rest of Tennessee or one of the other 49 states, here’s the step-by-step tutorial just for you. 🙂Continue reading

Run Like the Wind

Run Like the Wind

tiny-rock-heart-in-heart

I come from a tribe.

A boisterious, opinionated, over-the-top, joke-telling, loud, over-sharing kind of tribe.

I have two brothers and two sisters and four children and eleven nieces and nephews.

And that’s just on my side of the family.

We get together every Christmas and in the summer on Cape Cod and a few random holidays and events in between.  And when we are all together, there are family jokes and kids spilling out every where and giant waffle bars and Oreos in the couch and basketball games in the winter and tea parties and laughter.

Lots and lots of laughter.Continue reading
