What My Coffee Filter Whispered To Me

What My Coffee Filter Whispered To Me

Have you ever seen something on Pinterest and become obsessed and think about it all the time and you knew that you had to create it yourself?

Except.

It wasn’t a DIY.

It was just a picture.

So you climbed the craft challenge mountain and tried to create it on your own and it didn’t work the first time so you tried something else and then that kind of worked and then you finally figured it out…

….and emerged victorious and showed that craft who was boss.

Oh, good.

You, too?

So you will understand why my heart beat a little faster when I saw this.Continue reading

The Day I Wore Frayed High Waters

The Day I Wore Frayed High Waters

This Saturday I took 21,000 steps.

It wasn’t that hard.

For every step I took, I took two steps back.

It was a day that nothing went right.  I got lost on the way to the ballgame and yelled at the general population of the car and sunburned the tip of my nose and discovered that wood bees are not your friends and dropped my phone which now has a giant crack in it held together with scotch tape.

And to add insult to injury?

I cut off the bottom of my jeans to make them fray and misjudged the length and now I’m wearing frayed high waters.

*sigh*

Am I the only one?

Just in case you had a rough weekend, too….

….here’s a little post to make us both smile. 🙂Continue reading

Every Muddy Foot Should Know Its Worth

Every Muddy Foot Should Know Its Worth

Several weeks ago these mud-covered feet got asked to a dance.

They belong to my youngest twin–my tiny, blue-eyed, blonde-haired, tree climber.

A dance?  In middle school?  With a boy?  With awkward moments and disco balls and blaring music and watered down punch?

When did that happen?

She was just climbing trees and walking the dog and decorating her room with post-it notes and having tea parties with spotted elephants.  I wasn’t sure that I was ready.  I wasn’t sure that I was prepared.

But she was.

And she said yes.Continue reading

Life In Season

Life In Season

Isn’t it incredible when a friend dreams big?

When they reach for the stars and the moon and a few random galaxies…

….and something amazing shows up?

That’s how I feel about this book.

It made me laugh and sigh and think and it inspired me and filled my heart and made me the proudest of the proud.

I can’t help it.

You see….I’m kind of its aunt….

….because its authors are my long-long sisters.Continue reading

Five Simple Tips for Photo Editing

Five Simple Tips for Photo Editing

Can we trade tips?

See here’s the thing.  I know a little about photography and making pictures sharper and editing photos and making them brighter.

But baking chocolate chip cookies?

I got nothing.

I tried for the zillionth time to make them over the weekend and for the zillionth time they ran off the edge of the baking stone.  I just can’t get them right.  They are either hard as stone or too runny and the chocolate chips scold me from the batter and wish they had showed up in someone else’s kitchen.

So I thought I would ask you.

You.  The incredible baker.  You.  The person with the happy chocolate chips.  You.  The person waiting for a call back from The Great American Baking Show.

I’ll talk about my very best photography editing tips and maybe you can give me your very best tip for making chocolate chips behave.

My kitchen is all ears. 🙂Continue reading

A Spring Tour With Emojis

A Spring Tour With Emojis

Hello and welcome to almost spring.

I’m super excited about today.  I’m linking up with some of my favorite bloggers on the planet for a spring tour put together by Jen and Randi to celebrate flowers and spring and green and grass and blue skies and waving to winter in the rear view mirror.

If you are visiting from Courtney’s, I’m so happy that you stopped by.

Truly.

It’s super nice to meet you, but before we get started….

….I have a confession to make.

I need to up my emoji game.Continue reading

Five Minute Flower Arrangement With an Extra Dose of Perspective

Five Minute Flower Arrangement With an Extra Dose of Perspective

When we remodeled the kitchen at the farmhouse, we started with the floor.

I thought it would be easy and five-minutes and not-too expensive and done before Dancing With the Stars came on.

I thought wrong.

We pulled up four layers of flooring on our kitchen floor before we reached the original floors underneath.  It was an arduous journey, full of twists and turns and disappointment and the occasional moment of triumph.

Kind of like 20,000 leagues under the sea.

And when the final floor was revealed, my husband called me over with dismay in his voice,

“Oh no,” he sighed.  “What are we going to do about this?”Continue reading

Spring Door Decorating Ideas

This post is brought to you by Kwikset.

Are you a front door or a back door house?

A front door house is a little fancier.  There’s usually a living room right off the entry that’s clean most of the time because no one really ever eats Captain Crunch in there.

A back door house is a little more all about coming on in and having sweet tea.  There’s usually a recycling bin and some bikes stacked up and Christmas wreaths that have to be put up in the attic you have to wade through to get to the entry way.

If you had to choose, which one would it be?

Which door is your house?
