10 Easy Projects Made From Yard Sale Finds

10 Easy Projects Made From Yard Sale Finds

(this hutch was $75 dollars at a yard sale)

The other day I was driving down a winding country road.

You know, the one next to the chicken barn right after the fork in the road.

Out of the corner of my eye–I saw it.

Something that made my heart beat faster.  Something that made my eyes light up and my hands twitch and my hair curl up at the ends a little more and sing “Don’t Stop Believing” at the top of my lungs…

…a multi-family yard sale sign.

More than just one family’s abandoned treasures on display for only a quarter.  Welcome to yard sale season.  Before your next trip, here are some of my favorite yard sale finds ever and what I made from them.

A few random thoughts on a Saturday morning:

1. I’m almost done watching Lark Rise to Candleford.  I only have one season left.  Does anyone have a really good show with a British accent they’ve watched lately?

2. I think my scent for this month is Lemon Verbena.  I’ve ordered soap and dish soap and room spray and lotion.  Here’s to smelling like spring.

3. The bathroom remodel should be done this week.  I can’t wait to photograph the tile.

4. I cannot WAIT for you to see the cover of the book.  It’s the perfect combination of fancy and what was I thinking.

4. I just realized I never photographed and posted about the rest of the handmade Christmas presents.

I’ll fix that next week. 🙂Continue reading

Good morning rock star.

Here’s a few random thoughts on an almost-stormy Saturday morning.

1.  I’m thinking about adding a faux brick wall to the house.  I’m all in.  I just have to convince a few other people.

2.  Nothing says spring like walking in fresh green grass without shoes on.  Yesterday I actually felt the grass squish between my toes.

3.  Best outfield catch ever at the ballpark last night.  Time suspended as it hung in the air.  I thought he was going to drop it.  I thought I was going to have to prepare my “you can’t catch them all” speech.  But he emerged victorious with the ball clasped firmly in his glove.

4.  I read somewhere about the “Lark Rise to Candleford” series and I think it looks like Downton Abbey’s cousin.  Have you seen it?

5.  You are amazing.

I know a million other people will tell you that today….

….but I wanted to be the first. 🙂

I love this post.

Well-written and heartfelt.

Dear Carolina

My friend Kristy just finished her first book.

I couldn’t put it down.

Seriously.

I wanted to be friends with the characters and have one of them decorate my house.  It’s a story about two mothers, one biological and one adoptive, and the love they have for each other and a sweet baby named Carolina.

Best new book I have read in a while.

You can read more about it….here.

And now in random Saturday news:

Love this project.  Everything old is new again.

Great neutrals for a small space.

This made me laugh.  Dogs annoying cats with friendship.

Great furniture idea.

The best way to keep flowers fresh.

And I love the simplicity and sweetness of this house tour.

And one more for the road.

How to transform a crate into wall organizers.

Happy Random Saturday to you.

Now go take on the day. 🙂
