A Bit of Cinderella Wisdom

A Bit of Cinderella Wisdom

This week I was working on a project and I was trying to remember the name of a post that I’d wrote back when burlap was still a thing and I hadn’t discovered Mellow Mushroom Pizza yet.

To try and find it I searched for lessons on the blog.

I thought I’d find one or maybe two posts with that in the title.

Nope.

Not even close.

There was a post for almost every month of the year.  Apparently I’m all about a good lesson and I didn’t even know it.  But in the middle of all that lessoning, one post stood out.  It’s all about learning to live with mice and glass slippers.

Here are my favorite life lessons learned from Cinderella. 🙂Continue reading

Sometimes You Just Need a Sticker

Sometimes You Just Need a Sticker

A couple of weeks ago we were cleaning out the attic.

Because we are super-exciting and cutting edge and live a jet-set lifestyle….

….this is what we do for fun.

It’s actually an adventure up there.  Treasures that you forgot about hidden away in the eves and forgotten pieces of junk just waiting for a project.  You never know what you’ll find.

Even Chairs Need a Little Confidence Sometimes (And a Giveaway)

Even Chairs Need a Little Confidence Sometimes (And a Giveaway)

Master Bedroom Chair

I spent this last weekend speaking at a blogging conference called Haven.

It was a weekend full of laughs and catching up with old friends and wearing red lipstick and tromping through the halls and dancing on my tiptoes….

….and accidentally walking around with a band-aid in my hair.

But that is a story for another day.

Today we are talking about this chair and voting for our favorite and I’m giving away $100 Amazon gift card to one of you.

Just because I woke up and the sun was shining…..

…..and it’s a wonderful day to be alive.Continue reading

The Perfect Negotiation

The Perfect Negotiation

This is a sponsored post written in collaboration with Arhaus

I live in an area where two rivers meet.

And actually if you are a river aficionado, there are two other rivers several miles up the road.

But who’s counting?

Living by that much water can be good and it can be bad.  Good because it’s beautiful and peaceful and full of lush green foliage and picturesque river banks.

Bad because sometimes it floods.

Like four years ago when the river was rising higher than it had in decades and it looked like the 100-year-flood was rearing its ugly head and the water showed no signs of stopping and the entire town built a wall of sandbags higher than my head to prevent the water from flooding the area.

It was stressful.

And overwhelming.

And so I did the only thing that a person can do in the middle of a crisis…..

….I went to a yard sale.Continue reading

Faux Chair Slipcover

Faux Chair Slipcover

Faux-Chair-Slipcover-Label

Is it a chair?

Is it a slipcover?

Is it a chair covered by a slipcover that had big dreams of one day becoming more than just a piece of fabric and transformed itself into a chair?

Seriously.

I feel like there is a life lesson in here somewhere about reaching for the stars and being the best you that you could possibly ever be.

Even if you start out life as a textile. 🙂Continue reading
