How to Make Money Blogging (part 2)

How to Make Money Blogging (part 2)

This is the second post of a mini-series on how to make money blogging.

Super mini

There are only two posts.

Let’s review what we’ve already talked about in case you missed the first one (which you can read here).

1. Blogging is hard work.

2. You can make money (that’s the best part of the entire article).  Yes.  Yes, you can.

3. All clicks on ads are not created equal.

4. Working with brands involves networking and relationships.

5. Keep pushing your snowball.

All caught up?  Oh, good.

Let’s talk more about making money. 🙂Continue reading

Bathroom Organizing Ideas

Bathroom Organizing Ideas

disclosure:  This post is sponsored by Kirkland’s.

When I was younger I thought that organizing was super-overrated.

“Why would anyone want to be organized….when they could live like this,” I’d say to my piles of clothes draped over chairs in my room.

“I know right where everything is anyway,” I’d whisper to the closet floor.

“I’m organized in my mind,” I’d tell the stacks of papers on my desk.

But now?

I love organization.

Especially when it starts with 2017.

You, too?  Oh good. 🙂

Here are some of my favorite bathroom organizing ideas.Continue reading

How To Make Money Blogging (part 1)

How To Make Money Blogging (part 1)

I have written this a post about how to make money blogging in my head about 5,327 times.

I’d start it and a story would pop into my head.

Or a DIY.

Or a dining room with a faux parquet floor and smocked burlap curtains.

And I’d get all distracted and chase rabbits and realize I needed to apply more red lipstick.

But this is a new day.

A new year.

And I thought that many of you might have added blogging to your resolution list.  Or maybe you have a hobby you want to turn into a business.  Or maybe you have created something that you want to share with the world…

…and getting paid for that blog or that hobby or that product might be fun.

But you wondered if it was even possible?

You wondered if you could actually make money?

You wondered how and why and when and where and IF.

And the answer?

It’s a wonderful, incredible, amazing, resounding YES.

Why yes….yes, my friend…..YES YOU CAN. 🙂

January Fresh Start with a FREE Mrs. Meyer’s Kit

My heart is longing for clean.

It can’t help it…

…it’s missing Christmas lights.

My house and I are at that awkward stage where you’ve cleaned up all the tinsel and put away the jingle bell garland and the tiny red car with a tree on top and now instead of twinkles everywhere, it all just looks kind of empty.

But sometimes empty isn’t so bad.

It can be a blank slate and full of possibilities and classic and cleansing and cathartic.

Especially when it smells good.Continue reading

How to Get Organized After Christmas

How to Get Organized After Christmas

This is what I wish my front entry looked like right now.

But, it doesn’t.

Not even close.

It’s auditioning for an episode of entry ways gone wild.

There are bit of paper and ribbon and tags and empty stockings and a reindeer wearing a party hat and sunglasses.

Christmas 2016 is officially in the books.Continue reading

How About Them Apples?

How About Them Apples?

types-of-apples

When I was younger I was better at talking than listening.

I talked through the multiplication tables and chemistry and Romeo and Juliet and the entire history of the pilgrim population.

I talked so much I majored in it in college.

But now?

Now that I’m older and wiser….

….I’m trying to get better at listening.

And learning.Continue reading

The Best New Candle Scents of the Season

The Best New Candle Scents of the Season

candied-walnut-and-apple

One of my favorite things about fall is the smell.

I think every season has a smell…

…and fall’s is the best of all.

I love the smell of the air on a cool, crisp fall afternoon.

I love the smell of apples and cinnamon and pumpkin pie and the feel of a fuzzy wool scarf against my nose.

But when you write a blog, smell is a hard thing to get across.

So I put together a fun photo shoot for Yankee Candle that helps to illustrate the smells of their yummy new candle line called Wine Pairings.  It’s a really fun concept.  Each of the candle scents was meant to pair with a specific wine and cheese for the entire entertaining package.Continue reading

Easy Tip for Maximizing Your Rug Budget

Easy Tip for Maximizing Your Rug Budget

Living Room Decor

Yesterday I watched my zillionth tiny house show.  I can’t get enough.  I tell myself no more tiny house shows and then I end up sticking around to see where they hide the toaster or how big the bathroom is or the ingenious way they turn a bed into a couch and turn a couch into an entertainment center.

It’s addicting.

Last night the tiny house was amazing.  It was a luxury tiny house.  It had shiplap and farmhouse lighting and extra counter space.  I was kind of all about it.  I thought I could live there.  I could be a tiny house person.

And then I saw the loft.

And the bed.

You had to climb a ladder to get to this loft and crawl into bed in a space with a ceiling height of 2.5 inches.  I’d never make it.  I’d wake up in the middle of the night and forget I was in a tiny house and bump my head.

And that tiny space in that loft in that tiny house with its tiny roof?

It’s exactly like my rug budget.

(total aside:  just admit it….you were wondering how I was going to bring the story back around to the rug…right?) 🙂Continue reading
