Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

I wasn’t going to post this weekend.

I have Thistlekeeping scheduled for Monday.

But I couldn’t stay away.

I couldn’t let one more second or minute or millisecond pass before wishing each and every one of you the greetings of the season.

So from our family to yours, may your day be full of joy and happiness, may your holiday be full of wonder, may your heart be full of light and may your home be full of the welcome of family and friends.

Merry Christmas

love, the Woods 🙂

Farmhouse Christmas Lights Tour

Farmhouse Christmas Lights Tour

I’m so excited you are here for the Christmas lights tour hosted by my friend Rachel from Maison De Pax.

She’s invited dozens of bloggers to show off their Christmas lights at home after the sun goes down.

If you are visiting from Rooms for Rent, it’s nice to meet you.

I thought I’d start the tour with a little before.

Here’s the farmhouse in the snow.

During the day.

And now?Continue reading

Christmas Decorating in the Kitchen

Christmas Decorating in the Kitchen

I’m so happy you are here.

More happy than the time I found an entire congregation of tiny paper birds with glitter wings on sale after Christmas for .19 each.

And that’s happy with sprinkles on top.

Today is the day for Deck the Halls Christmas Home Tour–the kitchen edition.

If you stopped by from A Thoughtful Place it is super nice to meet you.

I’m KariAnne and I live in the middle of nowhere with a farmhouse as my best friend and….

…. I’d like to introduce you to my kitchen.

It got its floor polished just for you.

The Best Cookie Candle Scents of the Season

The Best Cookie Candle Scents of the Season

I love candles that smell like cookies.

It’s like baking them without the calories.

Fresh, hot sugar cookies right out of the oven with extra sprinkles.

Spicy cinnamon.  Buttery crust.  Hot gingerbread. Crunchy pistachio cookies with almonds and vanilla.

I wish you could smell my kitchen.  It’s almost like Santa’s elves are making an eight-course meal entirely made up of cookies.

I put together a fun photo shoot for Yankee Candle that helps to illustrate the smells of their yummy new candle line called Cookie Swap.  The scents are inspired by holiday cookie classics with six new fragrances that smell like a whole lot of wonderful.Continue reading

Christmas Decor, a New Lens and the Mannequin Challenge

Christmas Decor, a New Lens and the Mannequin Challenge

Have you seen the mannequin challenge, yet?

You know.

The one where someone yells freeze and everyone holds their place and no one moves and every single person in the scene stays exactly where they are.

Just like mannequins.

There are scenes of restaurant mannequins and basketball game mannequins and party going mannequins…

…and even Santa scene mannequins.

But around here?

We’re a little different.  We have house mannequins instead.Continue reading

My Handmade Ornament Christmas Tree

My Handmade Ornament Christmas Tree

This post was written in collaboration with Puleo, International, Inc.

Just when I thought I couldn’t adore you anymore.

You went and inspired me again.

If you are into a handmade Christmas or want a few ideas on handmade gifts or cry a little with joy over these amazing ornament stories.  You have to read the comments on this post and this post.

So when Puleo, a maker of great Christmas trees and garlands and wreaths sold to stores here and internationally, asked me to decorate one of their trees and photograph to be used in social media promotion–I knew that I knew that I knew….

….I was totally going vintage and handmade.Continue reading

Twinkle Twinkle Little Christmas Dining Room (and a Giveaway)

Twinkle Twinkle Little Christmas Dining Room (and a Giveaway)

This wasn’t the post I was going to write today.

I was going to photograph the dining room with its Christmas dining room decor and give you some fun ideas for inexpensive decorating ideas for your room.

But just as I finished with the last branch and the last ornament and the last furry pillow on the last plaid throw, the sun started to set.

It took my breath away.

The setting sun.

The Christmas tree casting a warm glow over the room.

The tiny houses glowing in the coming darkness.

I couldn’t help it.  I had to show it to you.  I grabbed my camera and snapped and snapped and snapped away to try to capture that moment.

I hope you like twinkles as much as I do. 🙂

The Best Christmas House Tour Ever and Happy Thanksgiving

The Best Christmas House Tour Ever and Happy Thanksgiving

Christmas decorating living room

May your cranberry bread be baked to perfection.

May your broccoli be steamed.

May your potatoes be mashed.

May your corn be buttered.

And may your turkey and dressing be shared with family and friends.

Just in case you had a few minutes between courses and conversation, I wanted to share one of my favorite Christmas tours ever.  In the history of ever.  I’m getting ready to deck some last minute halls here and show them off next week.
