Decorating Your Home With Yard Sale Finds

Decorating Your Home With Yard Sale Finds

It’s been an incredible week around here.

There are hopes and dreams and plans and laughter spilling out of the farmhouse this week.

I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

Every.  Last.  Detail.

But for today lets talk spring and yard sales and the people whose heart beats a little faster when you see a hand-lettered multi-family yard sale sign.  I’m sure it’s spring home tour sharing day somewhere and today I wanted to take a walk through mine.

Except.

Except I wanted to do things a little differently (this is the part where you nod your head and tell me you are not surprised).

If you were to stop by for a tour, I tell you how happy I am that we are friends and I would get you some sweet tea (or water if you preferred) and I would take you through the rooms and give you the yard sale tour.  You know, the one where I tell you where everything came from and how I made it or got it at a yard sale and what I would buy at a yard sale season if I only had $5.00 and that yard sale season is starting again and we should go some Saturday.

Hold on.

Let me get you a glass of tea.

Now let’s go.Continue reading

A Tour of the House for Hope

A Tour of the House for Hope

I have written 1,315 posts on this blog.

Some of them funny.

Some of them not as funny as I thought they were.

Some of them introspective.

Some of them room befores and afters and furniture makeovers and DIY projects and the occasional post about hay bales and gas station pizza in the country.

But this post?  The one you are about to read?  Of all the more than thirteen hundred posts…

….this one is the longest.

I couldn’t help it.

The house for hope turned out that amazing. 🙂Continue reading

A Sneak Peek of the House for Hope

A Sneak Peek of the House for Hope

The House for Hope is done.

It’s all furnitured and rugged and wallpapered and faux finished and lighted up.

I brought my camera to photograph everything and take pictures of the entire house.

Especially what you see when you look up.

Seriously.

There are light fixtures in this house that are so amazing they need their own reality show.

I can’t show you all the rooms until the end of the month, but I got permission to give everyone a little sneak peek.

Buckle up butter cup.

This house is a design roller coaster ride. 🙂Continue reading

A Little Hope From a House

A Little Hope From a House

If you’ve never met me before…

….there’s one thing you should know.

I’m a jumper.

A feet-firster.

A yesser now and a thinker later.

An “of course I canner” and a “I got thisser.”

There are days when I wish I thought a little more and looked around and held my finger up to the wind and thought about it before I jumped.

But I can’t help it.

It’s how I’m made.Continue reading

Christmas Decorating in the Kitchen

Christmas Decorating in the Kitchen

I’m so happy you are here.

Truly.

More happy than the time I found an entire congregation of tiny paper birds with glitter wings on sale after Christmas for .19 each.

And that’s happy with sprinkles on top.

Today is the day for Deck the Halls Christmas Home Tour–the kitchen edition.

If you stopped by from A Thoughtful Place it is super nice to meet you.

I’m KariAnne and I live in the middle of nowhere with a farmhouse as my best friend and….

…. I’d like to introduce you to my kitchen.

It got its floor polished just for you.

The House That Laughed in Colors

The House That Laughed in Colors

life-in-grace-house-tour-4

I first met my friend Edie online.

I didn’t have a blog yet.

It was just a far away dream.

I’d spend hours reading blogs and looking and sighing and hoping and wishing that one day I’d start a blog of my own.

And then right around Christmas several years ago, I read the most terrible news on Edie’s blog.  Her house had burned to the ground.

I couldn’t believe it.

My heart almost broke in two when I saw this.

Hello rock stars.

I’m the first stop on the Simply Fall Home Tour today and I’m showing off the gatehouse.

It’s a little different look at fall than the main farmhouse.

A little simpler.  A little sweeter.  A little more modern farmhouse.

This is where I work.  Where I write the blog.  Where I’m writing the chapters of the book (which is almost finished fingers crossed).

I wasn’t going to decorate over here at all.

But somewhere along the way a little fall showed up. 🙂

Hello friend.

I’m so happy you are here.

Truly.

You’ve made my entire week.

My friend Laura from Finding Home Farms put together a little fall tour today.

I’m throwing open the door to the farmhouse and showing off the kitchen and the family room and fluffing the pillows and picking the Captain Crunch up off the floor and filling the sweet tea glasses.

Let’s get this party started.Continue reading
