Before and After Loft Workspace With National Painting Week

Before and After Loft Workspace With National Painting Week

I have been waiting for 1,900,800 seconds to show you this before and after I worked on in conjunction with Sherwin-Williams National Painting Week.

That’s 31,680 minutes.

Or 528 hours.

Or a really, really, really long time.

It all started with a request.  We have a brand new cancer center going up in our town. My sister is a local artist and she was asked to create an mixed-media art installation with a group of cancer survivors.  It’s a giant tree with leaf after leaf after leaf created from the pages of each of the survivor’s journals.

Words transformed into art transformed into inspiration…

….with hope written in every line.Continue reading

I’m Donating My Color (and a Sneak Peek)

Did you think I forgot something today?

Does the blog look a little different?  A little off?  A little unusual?

Can you guess?

IT”S THE COLOR.

It’s gone.

Poof.

I’m donating it today for a worthy cause.Continue reading

A Little Before and After With Extra Curb Appeal

A Little Before and After With Extra Curb Appeal

disclosure:  This post is sponsored by National Hardware.

Don’t you love a pitiful before?

Especially one that has its picture taken on a dreary day when the sky is cloudy and the walls need power washing and the steps are sad and the door needs a little freshening up.

This is my office.

The gatehouse.

It’s seen one too many winter days.Continue reading

A Before and After Sprinkled With Friendship

A Before and After Sprinkled With Friendship

Have you ever noticed that you call different friends for different things?

There are the friends you call because you think of something funny and you love to hear their laugh.

There are the friends you call when your car breaks down by the side of the road and it’s midnight and you left home wearing slippers because you were just running out to get milk.

There are the friends you call when you discover that Chip and Joanna have a new show on HGTV because you know they’ll scream with you.

There are the friends you call when you need to read someone a blog post because you know they will silently laugh in all the right places and not interrupt (Ashley…I’m looking at you).

And then?

There are the friends you call for a little sunshine and conversation and they stop by your house with all of that….

….and the missing piece of a design puzzle.

A Tour of the House for Hope

A Tour of the House for Hope

I have written 1,315 posts on this blog.

Some of them funny.

Some of them not as funny as I thought they were.

Some of them introspective.

Some of them room befores and afters and furniture makeovers and DIY projects and the occasional post about hay bales and gas station pizza in the country.

But this post?  The one you are about to read?  Of all the more than thirteen hundred posts…

….this one is the longest.

I couldn’t help it.

The house for hope turned out that amazing. 🙂Continue reading

Welcome to the next edition of as the bathroom renovation turns.

Where a humble homeowner and her imagination transform an awkward master bath and an over-sized powder bath into a bathroom poetry.

Let’s review.

When we last left our master bath….

….it looked like this.Continue reading

Before and After Guest Bedroom

Before and After Guest Bedroom

disclosure:  This post is sponsored by Birch Lane.

Here’s a little throwback Thursday.

I’m not sure if a little throwback on a Thursday should make you a little wistful.

But this one does.

This is the before.  This room was the twins’ room when they were younger.  This is the room of tea parties and stuffed animal boarding school and fancy hats and dance parties and stories that never ended.  Before they moved upstairs and ditched the monograms and chose even brighter colors and painted murals on their walls.

The room was a little sad when they left.

After all, who doesn’t love a fancy hat and a tea party with choreography.

But now?

It’s repainted and restyled and redone….

…and ready for guests.

Before and After Imagination Craft Room Redesign

Before and After Imagination Craft Room Redesign

craft room before and after

Today I’m going all Adele and telling you hello.

Remember when FrogTape challenged me to take an empty room and transform it with paint and color and $1000?

Cue the drums.

Cue the ticker tape parade.

Cue the pots and pans and wooden spoons in your kitchen.

Today is the day for a little before and after craft room amazingness.

Are you ready?  Have your party hat on?  Ready for choreography and dance moves?  Memorized all the verses to Eye of the Tiger?

Oh good.  Me, too. 🙂Continue reading
