A House Full of Inspiration

A House Full of Inspiration

Before I ever wrote this blog…..I was a blog reader.

Every morning.

I would sip a cup of cinnamon coffee with hazelnut creamer and read……and dream.

This was a world filled with pages and pages of chevron rugs and burlap and locker baskets and down pillows with the number seven and bingo cards and nailhead trim.

It was perfection.

It was amazing.

Full of endless creativity and a world of possibilities.Continue reading

 Personalized All Natural Room Scents

I’ve been growing my own herbs in the window.

At first I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them.  I’ve never really grown herbs before.  They were on an end cap at Lowe’s calling my name with the tiny clip-on chalkboard tags and the little tin buckets….put there for people just like me who go into Lowe’s to buy a light and come out with an herb kit.

I wasn’t sure if they would actually grow.

Well….actually I wasn’t sure if I would remember to water them.

But I did.

And they grew.Continue reading

An Amazing Hair Day

An Amazing Hair Day

The other day I put a bobby pin in my hair.

Right at the top….holding back my bangs.

I’m not really sure why I put it there….I’m not really the bobby pin type.  I’m more of a hot roller girl….one who never met a can of aqua net hairspray that wasn’t welcomed with open arms.

But I just saw Jennifer Aniston in a magazine with a bobby pin.

And she looked amazing.

Her bobby pin said “I’m cool and hip and fun and ready to fly to the south of France at a moment’s notice.”

All things I aspire to daily.Continue reading

Did You Miss Me?

Did You Miss Me?

Did you miss me?

Please say yes….because I totally missed you.

The blog was down all weekend…..which seemed like an eternity and left me with an amazing amount of free time on my previously overly involved blog hands.

So I decorated.

And ate some Thin Mints (thank you Girl Scouts of America).

And decorated some more.Continue reading

Blog Make-over

Blog Make-over

Here are some herbs growing in my kitchen.

Ummmm…..can you say…..random.

I know.

I was going for a brilliant, witty analogy about growing and herbs and spring and blogs and make-overs.

And somewhere between taking the picture and writing the post….I got nothing.

Nothing brilliant.

Nothing witty.

Nothing even garden-related.

Nothing……except to say that the blog will be off-line this weekend while it goes all Beverly Hills and gets a facelift.

So if you stop by and there’s a construction screen…..no worries.

Just remember the herbs and know with absolute assurance……Thistlewood will be back on Monday with a total room (and blog) make-over.

See you then rock star!

Easiest Yummiest Pie Crust Ever

Easiest Pie Crust Ever
This is the easiest yummiest pie crust ever….in the history of ever.

It’s true.

Three ingredients.

Well….four if you count water.

It is so delicious and easy that you have to try it.

After you make it….you are totally going to want to be best friends with me.

And I’m okay with that.

I like a friendship based on a really good pastry. 🙂Continue reading
