The Master Bedroom

The Master Bedroom

The master bedroom was one of the last projects we completed.

And here’s the before.

Can you even believe it?

I dredged up some old before pictures from the vault.

From way before.

Back in the day.

The days of red toile wallpaper and ancient grey Berber carpet.

I thought about calling this post….”To Toile or Not to Toile.”

Shakespeare.  Funny, right ?  Get it?

But then you realize that the Shakespeare thing has already been done this week….and by a much more capable writer and in a way funnier way than you ever thought about.  Where does that leave you?

That’s where.

Here’s another after of the master bedroom fireplace.

We completely surrounded the old fireplace with moldings.

I’m sure Shakespeare would approve.

I keep thinking that this armoire should be grey.

Or maybe not.

I’m sure there are other stumped Shakespeareless bloggers like me…..

….so I’m sure tomorrow will be a much better day.

Don’t forget about our linky party this Friday, March 2.  Share what your dreams for your blog are.  I can’t wait.  It’s going to be awesome.  Dream-sharing is the best.

PS  If you want to see how I made the curtain rods in this post….click here.

PSS Just for the record, Shakespeareless isn’t in the dictionary.  But that’s how I roll.

PSSS  All of these shakespearless photos are taken by RTM Connect.

Details, Details

I think it’s unanimous.

We all want to wrap ourselves in smocked burlap curtains and go out on the town.

But first a little clarification.

This is what the curtains in the dining room used to look like.Continue reading

I Never Promised You a Rose Garden

I never promised you a rose garden.

But I did promise you a sign tutorial.  Did you think I forgot?

And I was going to write one….but why?

Why would I even attempt to show my definitely amateur sign-making tutorial when Kristen from The Simple Things has written a truly professional step-by-step tutorial on how to make a sign.

And she shows you how to white wash.

And she uses fence posts for the sign……how brilliant is that?

And she sent it to me… show all of you.

You’d think it was my birthday week or something 🙂

Take it away Kristen.Continue reading

Dear Book Club

Dear Book Club

Dear Book Club,

I’m sorry I was late.

I know you weren’t surprised.

I was going to be there.  Really.

I had my schedule cleared.  I had finished the book.  I had my cute book club outfit on.  I was even leaving my house early.  Truly, I had my keys and I was walking out the door….

….and I on my way, I passed by the dining room and noticed that the hutch was….well….how can I put this….Continue reading

Exclamation Points R Us

Exclamation Points R Us

What do you think of the exclamation point?

Can we all agree there are a lot of “!!!!” in blogland?

Do you think it’s trite?

Imperfect Perfection

Perfection in blogland is everywhere.

Everywhere you look.

With every click of the mouse.

Sometimes when I see rooms like this or this or this done with such effortless perfection, it can be overwhelming.

Not Wordless Wednesday

Who doesn’t love a good “Wordless Wednesday” post?

Well, this isn’t one.

Because it’s Thursday.

And I am not, nor ever have been, wordless.

But I had to share a picture that is worth at least 10,000 words.

Please tell me you have seen this.

Please tell me that you laughed out loud.

Please tell me I’m not the only one.

I could not let the sun set on Thursday without sharing.

And I know it’s wrong…..

…..but it does make me feel so much better about yesterday?  🙂
